My brother passed away 3 weeks ago and this was the song he requested to be remembered by. I cried my eyeballs out playing this for the first time today at the get together. Im fucking losing it now. Life is short
I like the line about the party everyone leaves at the same time. It demonstrates that the reasons people leave parties early don't happen there. And also the reasons people leave later. No fights No spiked drinks No getting so shit faced you pass out on a stranger's roof The vibes at the party are perfect
You put this video together by yourself? You're a genius! I loved this song when it first came out and the video looks exactly like the song and lyrics suggest! Thank You!
In my town, there wasn't a bar named heaven. But we did have a place called DV8 and The Zephyr Club that everyone went to and there were something did happen occasionally with cold bands performing. This has been and will always be a favorite.
Heaven is stillness is silence is is. The party is your life form what you do all your thoughts all other peoples thoughts about you, yours and their perceptions ideas moaning noise thinking thinking thinking. Heaven is a place where you don't think and where you STOP MAKING SENSE breathe in and watch the other world float by choosing when you decide to engage not your 24/7 365 running after your mind. Heaven is at hand
Uncountable beers listening that song ... Byrne genius. O dia em que eu assistir talking heads posso morrer em paz ... please translate this my English is suckz ..lol... Talking Heads Lover . Thank you. Obrigado.
This song could possibly be inspired by David Bowie's "Heroes". The same rhythm, the same kind of transition and tone of the chorus, the same mood and the same absurdist and conflicted lyrics.
If you listen closely, David sings, "Heaven is a place, a place where nothing NEVER happens". Note the double negative. He believes something is happening all the time in Heaven.
So appropriate for 2019...quick quick buying the stuff we don't need but only want want want.. In heaven we will all be zip zero zilt without our precious things lolz..😂😂😂
I was wondering about the lyrics, is it :"Heaven is a place where nothing ever happens" OR "Heaven is a place where nothing never happens"... I have the impression that he's saying "Never"... or maybe he says both ?
Everyone is trying to get to the bar The name of the bar, the bar is called Heaven The band in Heaven, they play my favorite song They play it once again, they play it all night long Heaven Heaven is a place A place where nothing Nothing ever happens Heaven Heaven is a place A place where nothing Nothing ever happens There is a party, everyone is there Everyone will leave at exactly the same time It's hard to imagine that nothing at all Could be so exciting, could be so much fun Yeah, heaven Heaven is a place A place where nothing Nothing ever happens Yeah, heaven Heaven is a place A place where nothing Nothing ever happens And when this kiss is over, it will…
I like Talking Heads except for this atheist song. I think I know why Byrne became an atheist. It is because one of his parents was Catholic and one was Protestant and that would obviously lead to a lot of arguments and he had enough of it and wanted nothing to do with Christianity in general because it caused his parents to fight so much. Just my theory. I could be wrong but the Catholic and Protestant thing is true and Presbyterianism is big in Scotland and they are Calvinists and if you know anything about Calvinists, they are historically very anti-Catholics. I almost lost my faith because of Calvinists.
Well Bluegrass you could try actually listening to the lyrics and at least make an effort to understand what he is saying. Or you could just continue to feel threatened and being presumptuous and attack rather than grow.
Spoken like a truly selfish ChristianIST. Totally disinterested and ignorant of Jesus' message. Just looking to get into Heaven and worship power. Disgusting.
The lyrics actually say, "Heave is a place, a place where nothing NEVER happens". Note the double negative. David is saying there's something happening in Heaven ALL the time! :-)
One of the most beautiful and profound pop songs ever written.

Great song from a great band.
Sometimes a certain piece of music brings things to life in one's own mind's eye.
Thanks for Sharing,Shared.
I can totally relate to your comment. If music we're to be taken away from me it would be worse than death.
in my top 10 ever - courtesy of the genius David Byrne
Höre ich jeden Tag 💖

Talking Heads Lover .
Thank you.
Obrigado.
Também amaria vê-los ao vivo...acho que isso não acontecerá, infelizmente. A banda acabou faz décadas
They were geniuses.
I feels like David Bowie a little bit. Thanks!
There will be a band in heaven. They will be called 'The talking heads".
You have described so well ...
Thank you.
Right along side Bob Marley
Beautiful.. ✌

Dis song let me thingk on a holidays in Ibiza
Nothing=Bliss
well it could equal boredom, which means disaster and tragedy is interesting and why we are here to escape heaven for a little ride.
It is peaceful.
Or Death
BOREDOM

Addictive and paralyzing makes me move my bones like ever

That's what you get out of this song about what a ridiculous concept heaven is???
the sign in this video is on top of the post office in Folkestone, on the high street. (English sea side town)
The Bar is called ‘ Heaven’.
It reminds me of that Twilight Zone episode where the gambler wins every game and it turns out he is not in Heaven.
This IS the other place!
'Hvalen Valborg' from 1976.
Sounds VERY similar.
🎶 G I N (): ) 🎵
The Golden Crockaduck awards brought me here lol.
The Album is all good,
No-one in the comment section seems to understand that heaven in this song is depicted as hell.
I was wondering about the lyrics, is it :"Heaven is a place where nothing ever happens" OR "Heaven is a place where nothing never happens"... I have the impression that he's saying "Never"... or maybe he says both ?
😊😊😊
David Crosby sent me here
Everyone is trying to get to the bar
The name of the bar, the bar is called Heaven
The band in Heaven, they play my favorite song
They play it once again, they play it all night long
Heaven
Heaven is a place
A place where nothing
Nothing ever happens
Heaven
Heaven is a place
A place where nothing
Nothing ever happens
There is a party, everyone is there
Everyone will leave at exactly the same time
It's hard to imagine that nothing at all
Could be so exciting, could be so much fun
Yeah, heaven
Heaven is a place
A place where nothing
Nothing ever happens
Yeah, heaven
Heaven is a place
A place where nothing
Nothing ever happens
And when this kiss is over, it will…
Heaven's is a place for You and Me 🤗🙏😇.
Byrne sounds like Bowie's voice.
Which came first? The song or the sign.....
The song. If you google Nathan Coley, the artist behind the sign, you'll find that he often uses quotes from popular culture for his work.
Who is here for the movie Philadelphia ?
Me 👌🏻
I've just uploaded a new clip to youtube: Talking Heads - Heaven (lyrics on clip)

Superb!!! Thank you :)
And I thank you: for your compliment and for sharing!
Simply Red recorded that song on their first album.
That's a sweet cover!
I liked it too at the time, in fact it was my fav track on that album.
I don't like TH too much, but this song is nice. Thanks for the video
+Ladd Russo And thank you for the compliment!
So you like Nothing but flowers?
the live version is so much better!

Nothing ever happens in Heaven, huh? ........guess you will never find out. Too bad!
