Dünnes Depron heißdrahtschneiden!

- Winterzeit, Hallenflugzeit. Für richtig leichte Indoor-Modelle benötigt man entsprechend richtig leichtes Baumaterial: dünngeschnittenes Depron.
Wie ich mir das herstelle, zeige ich in diesem Video.

Winter time, indoor flight time. For really lightweight indoor models, you need really lightweight materials: hot-wire-cut thin Depron.
How I do this, I show in this video.

Great tips as always. I love indoor flight models. They are very toy like, in a good way. Even when everything that can go wrong goes wrong you can still have a good time. They are incapable of damaging anything and it doesn't matter how bad the weather is. You just go flying without any worries and do whatever you want in the air.
In the upcoming months I'm hoping to see some indoor flight videos on your channel, maybe even a new indoor airplane design if we get very lucky :D
I'm not that often indoors any more as I ued to, so I usually concentrate more on the parkfly-size.
But your words encourage me to once in a while take the opportunity to rebuild my Jodel-D120, which I gave away at some point. It just flew fantastic:

@@HilmarLange Wow! Fantastic is not an exaggeration for that flight, that's a brilliant airplane.
Indoor flyers look very fun but parkflyers are still my favourite, models look their best when I see them against the blue sky, and maybe when the sun shines through the covering of a balsa airframe.
Outdoor models that are simple and fun, only if someone had a library of plans full of such airplanes and they were available for free... Sounds too good to be true

Also das ist schon echt Next Level. Hoffe insgeheim das in einem neuen Modell von dir nix von dem dünnen Depron verbaut werden muss sonst müsste ich passen! Aber ja wirklich toll!
Keine Angst, das Hauptziel bei meinen Bauplänen ist, dass die Modelle möglichst einfach nachzubauen sein sollen. Neue Baupläne, in denen dünnes Depron benötigt wird, sind zunächst nicht in Planung.

I used to sell a lot of thin cut sheet when I owned Indoor Flyer. It is possible to re-skin the cut side. Place a teflon baking sheet on top of the Depron and use a normal clothes iron. Once you get the temp right it is very quick to re-skin a sheet. I used to clamp the cut sheet between two sheets of glass and dip it in boiling water to create perfectly flat sheets.

Letztendlich war es die Summe aus allen gezeigten Maßnahmen, die ein gutes Schnittergebnis reproduzierbar machte: nicht nur der Vorschub (und dessen Geschwindigkeit), sondern auch der Niederhalter hinter der Walze war wichtig.
Ohne Niederhalter-Blech zeigten sich regelmäßige Wellen in der Oberfläche.
Das könntest Du ja mit wenig Aufwand ausprobieren, ich kann mir vorstellen, dass so ein Niederhalter auch beim manuellen Vorschub Vorteile bringt.
I am pushing the material through by hand. It cuts well but often there are a lot of very fine stringy fibers all over the surface. Is the wire too cold or too hot, or am going too fast/slow? Any tip would be appreciated.
I have those fibers, too. But they are very even and flat. If I want, I can sand them away by scrubbing gently with a 80 grid sanding block. This leaves a very smooth and lightweight material, but it's no problem to keep them.

very clever! only 5v on the motor? No gearing?
The brushed motor is geared 1:11. It has got a nominal voltage of 12 V, and it's no problem to run it with a lower voltage. Here's the link to the supplier:

@@HilmarLange I purchased this motor and under no load it seems to run much faster than yours... Probably too fast... Not sure what to do here....
Because Her Lange gave a misleading/wrong answer that it is geared at 11:1, however actually it is 3000:1, see it in his video at around 5:40 min. I made the same mistake that cost me first to buy 11:1 and then had to buy again with 3000:1. The new one turns slow, about 2 rpm/min at low voltage.@@BenErikNess
Hast du eigentlich schonmal Depron auf deinem Silhoutte Portrait geschnitten? Mich würde interessieren ob das geht und wie das Schnittergebnis ist. Grüße
Hab' ich noch nicht probiert, daher kann ich Dir diese Frage derzeit leider nicht kompetent beantworten.
Welche RC-Komponenten benutzt Du für diese Fliegerchen?
Da drängt sich in der Regel das E-flite-Zubehör auf. Diese kleinen Kompakt-Platinen mit Regler und Linearservos drin.
Aber offengestanden mag ich die empfindlichen und lauten Linearservos gar nicht so sehr. Aus heutiger Sicht würde ich deshalb separate Mikro-Komponenten bevorzugen, mit 1,8-g-Standardservos. Auch wenn's zwei, drei Gramm mehr bedeutet.
Auf jeden Fall vewende ich handelsübliche Komponenten, mit branchenüblichen, deutschen Händlern als Bezugsquelle.
