    The guy who wrote the SCP-140. "AssertiveRoland" wrote that the writer referred by Foundation as SCP-140-A was one of the Daevite matriarchy who grew sick of the brutality of their culture and left. Some time after the destruction of the Daevites she created the SCP-140 hoping that just like humanity left behind slavery and feudalism and such the Daevas would also leave behind their own blood rituals and sacrifice altars.
    Again and again the SCP-140 openned up the possibility that the Daevite Empire could have become something better but that didn't happen. What reformers could have been never got far and the Daevites repeated their same brutal blood culture again and again. She realized that she had failed and made a huge mistake.
    As a final act she sent a message to the foundation explaning herself, asking them to burn the copy they have and giving them a modified SCP-140 book which tracks the other books but does not itself "drink".

    I have always found the Davite Empire and the mystery and intrigue surrounding it to be a fascinating part of SCP lore.

    Ah, yes. The Davites… the group who created Grand Karcist Ion… aka the Big E of the Flesh.

    Oh i think you misheard, in the timeline of events the daevites are gone, wipedout, kaput. But the scp book is constantly being added too, and as its added too. the daevites history is being added too as well and in turn Our history is being rewritten and slowly the daevites are coming back, starting to show up in later periods of time.
    it alludes that if it keeps happening the Daevites Will come back unless the foundation can destroy allll the copies of the books

    1) it’s left open to interpretation / authors whether the Daevites themselves are wholly extinct in the modern era. (I’ve definitely seen at least one tale with a surviving Matriarch.) But they don’t seem to be active in the same way as either the Sarkics or the CotBG. Their artifacts certainly have survived though, and there’s another TES video following up on them.
    2) One aspect of the Daevites to underline is that, according to 140, their culture isn’t really seen to evolve: they remain the same empire of anomalous blood sacrificers as they were 11k years ago. This aspect has not sat well with all authors in the years since 140 was introduced; SCP-6140 in particular grapples with/deconstructs that kind of alternative history. But that cultural stasis is definitely a big part of why people find the Daevites to be so scary.
    2) SCP-1000 is a Big Deal, as X000 entries tend to be; TES as ever has a good introduction. Alas, it wasn’t added to the Discord request list prior to the lockdown so it’ll have to remain mysterious a while longer…

    Anyone else get the feeling that the name of the university is Miskatonic?
    Also, the head tree sounds like something straight out of Japanese lore.

    Last year, someone wrote an SCP that describes the eminent arrival of the Daevites into the modern era, as well the SCP Foundation’s plans and best estimates involving a new world war against this spontaneous superpower. The Exploring Series does have a video on this as well if you wanna react to it. It’s called SCP 6140.

      In the When We Came Home story, the book gets yeeted into the ocean and the whole Daevite Empire claws its way into the modern age. The Flesh that hates shows up too, and this is all the prologue for the Scarlet King's apocalypse.

    SCP-1000 is one you'll definitely find interesting. It's an interesting twist on a well treaded idea and they come up more in the future so be prepared to hear more of them.
    The video 'more deavite SCPs' by the exploring series does go into them more. It definitely adds some more context.
    but too truly understand the deavites you'll need a full history lesson from a mrkacktus. And suffice to say I don't think we're far enough into the creatures and factions of SCP to get into that yet SCP-1000 for example, but we're getting there.

    The thing with the Davites is that they aren't doing anything now, yet. SCP-140 currently says the Davite civilization ending a couple of centuries ago. What the Foundation is trying to prevent with containing SCP-140 and destorying it's copies is keeping the Davites from existing in modern day as continous additions to 140 could result with the Devites becoming the dominate civilization in the modern world.

    I’d soooo recommend SCP-6140 for an alternate take or at least thought experiment - I know it’s slightly contentious but I found it interesting

    I agree with many here. SCP-1000 is a great one to get into next as they appear in so many places, along with the fey.

    14:37 you asked what they are doing now, they are doing nothing, because they they died long ago, now if more 'liquid' is poured into the book they might appear in the present, the book writes into the their history, so far the book only has history of then in the past but it can only get worse until their story catches up to ours.

    I think the implication with the tree is that either the slave used to create it was valued by their master, or they were being punished. Either way, it's still creepy.

    About that paragraph at the end...Could it be possible that one of those redacted fields was referring to [Miskatonic] University?...If so, it would be easily possible to fill in the rest of the redacteds.

    There is an SCP, 1173, that's a fictional country that becomes more "real" the more people know about it, even the O5 are split on if the country is real or not.

    An interesting angle is that as Church of the Broken God worships Mekhane, the Sarkhites worship Yaldabaoth, so did Daevites worship their very powerful and very scary deity, The Scarlet King, and trust me, if that's the case then the Sarkhites were the good guys of that slave rebellion. As disgustingly terrifying the Sarkhites are, Scarlet King is worse...

    • @semiclassical7620
      @semiclassical7620 2 года назад +4

      The relationship between Yaldabaoth and the Scarlet King has never been clear as far as I can tell. But the fact that they’re connected via the Daevites would seem to imply some sort of relation. Especially since the Sarkics originally tended to fear Yaldabaoth more than revere it-that makes it seem like it’d be in the same Daevite pantheon as the Kikg.

    I honestly recommend listening to SCP-6666 "Demon Hector and The Dread Titania" - The Exploring Series. While long, is quite expansive and through with one fifth of THAT story.

    You are going to love SCP -1000 and their lore.
    It is referenced in so so many SPCs and it just adds a lot of alternate world history to SCP in general.

    The Daevites aren't doing anything now because the book hasn't caught up to the modern day, though their splinter groups in the Sarkic cults and the Church of the Broken God are.

  • @Brutalyte616
    @Brutalyte616 2 года назад +3

    So the concern with SCP-140 is not that it rewrites history per se. Somehow, despite whatever gets added to SCP-140, modern civilization still appears and the book can only retcon the past so the Daevite civilization lasted longer or accomplished more before its decline. The concern is that evidence of the history SCP-140 describes will simply appear, which could obviously cause problems with secrecy and introducing new anomalies in the world, but the greater concern is what happens when the history of the Daevites overtakes modern times and our civilization is effectively wiped out by the Daevite history totally overwriting our own. Initially, the Daevites might simply be the last few survivors of a dead civilization, but as time goes by and more is added to SCP-140, the Daevites will retroactively become more and more powerful until they are a credible threat, and beyond that may simply conquer the world and reassert themselves as the dominant power once again.
