In Norway, for instance, 98% of electricity is derived from hydroelectric power because its geography allows exploitation of deep valleys and waterfalls to build dams. This indicates that a country's access and energy consumption can often heavily rely on the resource that is most abundant, implying that physical availability is important in determining energy mix as well. Still, it could be argued that countries opting for a diversified mix of domestic and foreign sources, limits the importance of location.
