    Pictures and video just doesn’t do this park justice. I was fortunate 25 years ago to see the Badlands. The different terrain is unreal. You can go from flat and then it drops off. The colors are unreal. Thanks for the video brings back some wonderful memories. 😊

    Another really good video! Thanks for the plug for my area. When you showed you getting your new truck you had mentioned how the Colorado had taken you to all of the lower 48 states plus British Columbia. Hope you will get the opportunity to explore my home area a bit more in depth on your way to Alaska in the summer. Those videos will be well worth the wait! I had been looking at various types of RV’s as I started thinking that this is something I would definitely like to do in the next few years once my work days are over. I finally decided on the truck and trailer scenario. I now have the first piece of the puzzle, the truck. Hopefully the trailer to follow soon. You have definitely been an inspiration to me!

    What an excellent video Robert! You took us right into the Badlands better than probably anyone else has done. Everyone will want to go there after watching this; and it makes me think the National Park Service may be shooting themselves in the foot by banning the making of unlicensed commercial videos this year.

    • @derekk6906

      Robert is very respectful and professional when filming in our National Parks, other RUclipsrs not so much. Those restrictions have always been there but it took someone with a RUclips Channel and over 3 million subscribers to force the National Parks Service hand. The way I understand it, they were warned numerous times to stop using drones in National Parks to film footage for their channel and the ignored the warnings. Drones offer awesome footage but many people visiting our National Parks may not enjoy those things buzzing over their head when trying to enjoy solitude and scenic views. Just my opinion.

    • @imagseer
      @imagseer Год назад

      @@derekk6906 Agree about the drones especially if they spook wildlife and intrude on people. But some of the 'drone' footage can be from wide angle micro cameras on the end of long telescopic poles.

    Fantastic video as always. You've inspired me to get out and explore more. I've been staying close to home since the pandemic, but this year I am going to be brave and see new things. Based on your SD videos I have planned a trip to the Bandlands and then on to Spearfish. These areas I wasn't able to see back in 2012 as we had horses with us. This year we are mainly traveling horse free to see more national parks and do a bit of hiking.
    I noticed you stay at quite a few KOAs. I bought KOA membership, hope it was worth the cost. Going to stay at Mitchell KOA, Badlands KOA and then Spearfish city park. Looking forward to checking out Spearfish canyon, Devil's Tower and riding our Rad eBikes on the Michelson Trail near Deadwood.

    Sunday morning, it's time to fire up the moka pot for some Cafe Bustelo and this week's TR video! That area of South Dakota is a so full of neat stuff to see! My two fondest memories of Badlands NP are hiking the trail with a boardwalk during a thunderstorm wearing a cheap poncho and stargazing on a warm clear night at the campground while listening to Pink Floyd.
    By the way, I'm sure you're probably already aware that there's big news regarding permits for filming in National Parks. I hope you don't mind me promoting another channel, but Park Junkie's latest video goes into some depth about the FILM Act, which changes the current laws to allow youtubers to film in the parks. This is a big deal for content creators and fans of travel videos alike. I hope anyone who's interested will take the time to contact their representative and express their support.
    Happy trails!

    • @TravelingRobert

      @@TravelingRobert Yes so true. We did similar as we had been towing with a Toyota Highlander and now tow with an F150. Slightly worse MPG but better towing, although the Highlander was a good tow vehcile, but a lot more storage room for bikes and stuff with the pickup. I went with a slightly more highway friendly tire, which is quite quiet, but I am sure not as good off road as yours are.... safe travels....really looking forward to the rest of your 22 west series, and especially keen to see your upcoming Alaska trip...bucket list for sure... also we are heading to Cuba next week for a couple of weeks... will be thinking of you for sure.
