Ahh dude totally agree, something about being sick and knowing your parents are there makes you feel instantly so much better and safer. I’m 25 and I still reflexively want my Mum and Dad when I’m really ill, it’s just comforting
omg a little less than a year ago i had a kidney stone at like,, 3 am and did the same thing as you (waiting and convincing myself i'm fine) but then when i was throwing up with pain i had to go to the hospital and i was just in unimaginable pain. but then they put me on morphine and i was having a grand old, sleep deprived, extra happy time lmao
i hate hospitals and needles and blood tests and everything like that but unfortunately i got diagnosed with diabetes 7 years ago so these things are things i have to get used to. i get injections 4 times a day and blood tests every month and even though it's been 7 years im still not used to it,it really sucks when you can't avoid the things you hate :(( i hope you get better soon PJ!! thank you for sharing this :)
Welcome to the no appendix club! But seriously, I hope you’re doing better! Having appendicitis sucks, especially with going to the hospital, hospitals are scary! And at least it wasn’t worse. It could have exploded.. luckily mine didn’t, yours didn’t, but my brother’s did and they had to wash his organs from the stuff from the appendix and he had to stay in the hospital for a week to make sure his stitches were healing well. Then, a long while later, another doctor had to remove his stitches, (which he said really hurt) and then he was finally done with it all. He had the stubbornness you did and didn’t tell my mom that he was in pain, so I’m glad you ended up going to the hospital, otherwise you could have been in the same situation as my brother, so I’m glad you’re okay!😄
RilesDoesWhatever mine almost ruptured because a doctor from a walk in clinic said I had “a bladder infection” A week later it and I had to get it removed because it had started to rupture and it was releasing poison into my body... I could’ve _died_
My cousin recently had hers rupture. She’s fine now but it was insane bc all of a sudden she had this pain and then she was passed out on the floor it’s crazy how fast it all happens
the pain you described sounds like what happened to me a few months ago, i ignored it and there's been many probelms since.. i should see the nurse. probably.
Comming back to this because I started having a dull pain where my appendix is and... well... if it gets even a little worse I'll go to the hospital. I know it's weird to think of this video right when the pain started but hey, it left an impression I guess. Thanks for sharing your story.
as someone with severe health anxiety, it helps me so much to just see sb familiar go through that and be fine in the end. Idk that video just really made me feel a little calmer, thanks pj.
oh man, that "I'm the main character, these things don't happen to me" thought... my whole life. I have never broken a bone or anything. But I have always kind of had this fear that my appendix will die some day out of the blue. So thank you for feeding my hypochondria :)
Same but mine played out differently: Try being ill for months then finally going to the hospital at 1am with your mum because your in Year 1 then they take loads of tests for a few DAYS then when you finally get the surgery to remove it they find out later that you didn't even have appendicitis and you didn't react well the anesthesia so you have to stay at home for ages! So in total I was there for 5 pointess days
super glad it wasn't any worse and that even though it was a horrible horrible weekend for you, it was just a weekend and you were then able to recover with your family and lovely Sophie. hospital staff are amazing. also, I know this isn't the point at all but I love how as a guy you can sit here talking honestly about being afraid of going to the hospital and struggling with pain (while wearing nail polish!). it's the kind of thing we should see more of.
Tiny Freckle period cramps can be like that, though. I used to throw up several times on the first day of mine - fortunately it got better after babies, but that doesn't work for everyone.
That seems plausible tho, I get really bad cramps sometimes and I remember when I started my period I would have REALLY bad cramps but still would stay in school
Honestly I never used to understand people being afraid of hospitals but since I got my disease I've had some lovely traumatic memories in a&e and now I get panic attacks if I go 👌
I had a similar situation late September (the first day of school, ha), when I had intense stomach pain and nausea, leading me to be hospitalized (for the first time) where I waited for 10 hours (w/out eating!) and had multiple tests until I was diagnosed with 3 ovarian cysts. I had surgery the next morning and am fully recovered now. But that day I learned the meaning of level 10 pain.
This is kind of comforting because I’m a bit scared of having a appendicitis because both my parents had one and I’m pretty sure I’m also gonna have one in some point in my life... Hearing this made me a little less scared, thank you PJ!
i saw this video when it came out and right now im rewatching it at the hospital while waiting to get my appendix taken out and its making me feel so much better, thank you pj
I feel the exact same way about hospitals and medicine and everything to do with being internally sick. I can deal with breaking bones (even though I never really have) but being sick I just cannot. It’s so funny you uploaded this video when you did I was literally just having a conversation with a friend the other day about this.
It’s strangely comforting to hear you talk about your fear of hospitals/needles/waiting/etc because I hate all of those things and I really don’t know anyone who hates them more than me. Even going to the dentist or like the regular family doctor are enough to freak me out for a whole day before. So yeah if you are hoping this video helped someone, it helped this anxious gal right here 😂
One of my friends gets such bad anxiety about getting any sort of injection that she has to go to be hospitalised so she can get a vaccination without going into a panic attack.
I think one of the most important things my dance life has taught me it's that you have to listen to your body. You only get one,and like you said, your body just knows. I'm glad you're feeling better!
Thank you for sharing, I also have a fear of anything hospital related, needles give me huge panic attacks. I related so much to the way you felt, and its comforting to know that everything went okay and you're fine.
1 he’s right handed and probably too lazy to do the other hand 2 because it’s pretty and sparkly 3 our life 4 warning is of aliens that will come from Neptune and eat or appendix
Pj said in an IG story that he paints his nails because he finds it therapeutic and because he likes the way it looks. Other than that, I'm guessing the "significance" is that he's right handed and likes the colour. "Why is it blue? It's always blue, man!" (Legion reference you made me think of)
To echo others - I am similarly super anxious around medical things (and for some reason have always been scared of appendicitis specifically) so I really appreciate hearing your story and what to pay attention to and that (of course!!) it all turned out fine :) appreciate you, PJ!
A year ago i started to feel really bloated and had some pain that travelled from the belly to the appendix area. I had fever for a day and went to the doctor, they just told me I was constipated. They gave me some laxatives and it got a bit better for a week but then the pain came back and i saw another doctor and i was having constant fever that wouldn't go down and pain. The pain wasn't terrible, I am a professional ballet dancer and was still able to perform, but i felt terrible. The other doctor told me if it didn't get better i should got get an MRI to see what was going on, and since it never did I scheduled an appointment a few days later. Right after i got my MRI i felt like something was wrong. Like my whole body started to shut down and stop working. I couldn't stop throwing up and asked them to call the ambulance. The people at the MRI checked my imaging right away and told me i had acute appendicitis. Once i got into the hospital, luckily i didn't have to wait a lot because they knew what was going on. After the surgery they had told me my appendix had burst and it looked really bad. I had to stay in the hospital for a 5 days having fevers and hoping that the antibiotics would work so i wouldn't die of infection or having to go through another surgery. Not only that I had a drain that would drain fluids from inside my stomach for 2 weeks after surgery. Luckily everything was fine and i came back dancing 2 weeks after the surgery. It was really scary since i all of my family lived in another country and most of the time i was alone. This really traumatized me and every since then i see therapy for the anxiety i have towards my health. 2 weeks feeling awful and being misdiagnosed by doctor has made me really scared that whenever i get sick again they might misdiagnose me again.
That sounds awful! I'm so sorry you were misdiagnosed and pretty shocked as well! Usually doctors will check if it's appendicitis just in case every time a young adult complains stomach pain and has fever - or at least they do here in Finland. I had the exact same feeling of extreme constipation and after that the smallest amount of pain in the right side of the abdomen and a little bit of fever. Thank god my doctor forced me to go to the hospital even though I myself resisted because the next day was going to be Christmas and I felt so little pain I thought it couldn't be appendicitis... But it was and I was operated after only five hours :) Hopefully you'll be able to overcome your anxiety - know that there are good doctors out there and this one mistake doesn't mean you'll always be misdiagnosed. Super good to hear you got back to dancing so quickly though - I gave myself an excuse to lie in bed for ages and I only had minor laproscopic removal of my appendix haha
@@TheSunshine865 So glad that everything with you worked out just fine! And yes i am little by little overcoming my anxiety! thank you so much for your message! means a lot to me! :)
I’ve stayed in hospital more times than I’d like to remember, it sucks right? Having surgery is a proper experience along with general anaesthesia! I’m so glad you’re okay now PJ, take it easy for a while and relax
I'm so glad you're alright and that nasty appendix is gone! I experienced something somewhat similar the other week... I woke up in the morning to extreme pain in my low abdomen, and being a woman i thought at first it was cramps, but as the pain continued and got worse I knew it was something else. It got to the point where i was sitting on the floor and couldn't move, so my friend and I decided to go get it checked out. walking to the car I was throwing up in a bag, so we chose to go to the ER instead, but in the end they couldn't figure out what was wrong with me! i have been feeling so frustrated and embarrassed and it makes me so happy that your experience turned out fine! love you thanks for sharing this story :))
This scared me so much! I heard some real horror stories from uk hospitals and thinking about going to a A&E and waiting ages to get checked would be a real nightmare. I’m so glad you’re all good and up on your feet again! x
PJ, it wasn't a good idea to hold a hot bottle to your stomach as it enhances the inflammation, at least in case of such sharp pain. *medical student here*
Well, we are SO GLAD that you're okay PJ. I remember when my brother had appendicitis... I was so scared for him. But it all turned out alright. Take as much time as you need to recover PJ!
Thanks for making this vid pj, I kind of have a fear of my appendix bursting bc I thought it burst when I was young and since then if I get a pain that goes a bit to my right I slightly freak out, so knowing that you can still make it through is good to know. I'm real sorry that you had to go through that
Earlier last year I thought I had appendicitis and I had to go through a bunch of waiting and blood tests to figure out what was happening, which turned out to be nothing but digestive problems lol. It's so scary, and I'm really sorry you had to go through this, glad you're okay though!
Glad you made this video! My grandfather died of appendicitis my dad came very close to dying. Heaps of my family members have had to have theirs removed too so I expect to happen to me one day but I don't really know what I'm looking out for. Complaining of stomach pain is very different when you're a girl because everyone just brushes it off as your period (I've definitely known this to happen). It's great to hear someone talking about trusting your gut wiht medical issues and biting the bullet to go to the hospital.
Not even a week after you posted this and I had to et mine removed. Your video actually helped me figure out what was wrong and helped me get to the hospital before the appendix actually burst. Thank you so much! By the way, watched the doodle stream earlier and I have to say, I'm quite impressed with the bonfire King (even if you needed a little help with the pinecone). :P
Oh my goodness I'm so glad PJ can explain what it feels like i had my appendix out when i was 13 but I waited too long because i thought it was just a random stomach ache and my appendix burst and according to the doctors if i hadn't eventually gone in to the A&E when I did i probably would have had a hard time surviving. As it is I had to stay in hospital for a week and a half because it was that bad. I remember going under the general anaesthetic but I could never explain what it felt like but PJ explains it so well. I'm glad you're ok PJ !!!!!! Hospitals are harrowing places but now you can enjoy the comfort of your own bed.
I lost mine as well when I was four. Luckily I don't remember much of it, as I am told it was traumatic- a whole hoard of goblins came and stole it and ran away leaving me with an infection. Horrible, I know
You’re so right when it comes to going to check this stuff out, I waited 8 days to get my appendicitis checked out and it ended up bursting and I was in hospital for 3 weeks and ended up being put through a massive surgery which was TERRIBLE!!! But I’m glad you’re feeling better, I know how stressful the whole hospital situation is, but at least we both now know not to be so stubborn and to listen to our bodies :))))
Had my appendix removed three years ago now. I was a senior in high school and it was chronic. So basically my appendix would become inflamed every two months on the dot, I could’ve marked it on my calendar, and I would get extremely sick and couldn’t hold anything down and would be out of school for days. This happened four times, one of them taking a trip to the hospital where a clearly overworked young doctor reassured me the pain was just period cramps and indigestion. The fourth and final time it happened, I couldn’t get off my bathroom floor in pain and my mom found me and carried me to the car and off to the hospital where I finally got it removed. Being on morphine and oxis was strange, but now that sucker is gone forever and I’ve been great ever since! So glad to hear you’re feeling better, I’ve adored you for so many years. I wouldn’t wish that pain on ANYONE.
I’m glad you’re okay. I’m just as, if not more stubborn about going to the hospital. So I should be more careful next time my stomach hurts or something like that. Fortunately it has never hurt much, and I’m guessing it was food poisoning the few times that happened. Sometimes it has been period cramps too
I hate hospitals too, too many things happened there I really don't wanna be reminded of But unfortunately I'm really clumsy so every 6 months approximately something happens to me that I have to be rushed to the hospital I can really relate to your story, I hope you get well soon!
I had to do the same thing in like 2014 and i was very loopy and insulted my uncles shirt and they gave me a teddy bear because I was young and I still have it aswell as my scars from sugary. I'm glad you feel better❤❤
I'm glad those pesky appendix stealing goblins have left you in peace!
Did you try putting it in rice?
What about turning it on and off again?
Or have you tried slamming it against a table?
Tried charging it?
Maybe try baking it instead of frying?
Lmao all of you just made my day 😁

Well, we are SO GLAD that you're okay PJ. I remember when my brother had appendicitis... I was so scared for him. But it all turned out alright. Take as much time as you need to recover PJ!
Thanks for making this vid pj, I kind of have a fear of my appendix bursting bc I thought it burst when I was young and since then if I get a pain that goes a bit to my right I slightly freak out, so knowing that you can still make it through is good to know. I'm real sorry that you had to go through that
Ah man, that sucks! Glad your parents were there to support you, hope you're doing better now
I know the feeling kickthepjI was in the hospital for three weeks in October!!!!!!
Earlier last year I thought I had appendicitis and I had to go through a bunch of waiting and blood tests to figure out what was happening, which turned out to be nothing but digestive problems lol. It's so scary, and I'm really sorry you had to go through this, glad you're okay though!
Im happy that you’re recovering well, take the time you need
Hope you find it
I LOVE his nails omg
So happy you are ok and everything went well.
I'm happy you're better, PJ. Also shout out to the NHS for being crazy good and free and for saving your appendicitis-riddled bacon. Tasty.
i just UNLIKED it to be part of the 6 that wanted to call the attenttion. LOVE PJ BAI
My friend's appendix burst because it took forever until they concluded it really wasn't period cramps. (She's fine now, but that was bad.)
Good to have you back! Get well soon!
I lost mine as well when I was four. Luckily I don't remember much of it, as I am told it was traumatic- a whole hoard of goblins came and stole it and ran away leaving me with an infection. Horrible, I know
glad you're ok now and look at you with the dashing nailpolish! love it, mate.
Happy to hear that you are better!
I'm glad you're okay!
The "this" you talked about is probably several different regions in your brain going on standby and that happens in a chain reaction
missed ya bud
Awwww Mr and Mrs PJ making him feel safe and happy 😍
Sometimes it has been period cramps too
So proud of you for making it through this. I know exactly how you feel about all this
I hate hospitals too, too many things happened there I really don't wanna be reminded of
But unfortunately I'm really clumsy so every 6 months approximately something happens to me that I have to be rushed to the hospital
I can really relate to your story, I hope you get well soon!
That sounds pretty horrific, hope you feel better soon!
Glad you're okay
I LOVE YOU NAILS!
