A terrific story, a great entry in a marvelous series. I really love these zombie tales of the outbreak in NYC. One of the questions that a reader considers when reading a zombie apocalypse story, is how could the vast majority of the population be taken down and killed so quickly? Well, this story illustrates that perfectly. The people who are ill with the zombie virus take hours or days to turn, but once they do, their victims take only moments to turn. The number of zombies would increase exponentially the moment the first outbreak started. Most people would be taken down without even knowing what was happening---like the man coming out of his house being swarmed. People being attacked on the street in the middle of a regular morning, most never able to even react in time to save themselves. A really heartbreaking moment was when the one man tried calling his wife to warn her. We, the audience know that it is already far too late, as his son was already sick, and most likely already turned. His mother would not stand a chance. And what is especially diabolical about the plague is that it would take down the first responders first---police, fire fighters, EMT's, hospital people----all of the people that the public depends on to handle a crisis. This story was just so sad, really heart breaking. But with everyone and everything you cared about gone, how many people would just give up? Quite a lot I should think. And this really a series about all the people who's lives were lost in the first few hours of the outbreak, so we cannot really expect too many happy endings. I really like this series because there are just so many scenarios that can be used for other stories. .
Derek, thank you for publishing over a holiday weekend. That’s dedication to your fans and needs to be appreciated and acknowledged. I enjoyed the story immensely. Thank you again.
Every story that starts with "Day Zero..." those are my favourites. Also the Texas story on the origins is so well written... Derek you need to try and sell this to HBO or (I would say Netflix but they'd F it up). On the condition they stay true to the books,.
Honestly thought he was going to chop off his wifes arms & lower jaw to be a zombie pet like TWD or shaun of the head but like in your earlier story with the 2 soldiers in texas, at least they're still together.
Derek- you are likely young enough to be my son BUT we have a thing going on. Never have l waited so impatiently for Saturday mornings (as an adult). Rarely have l changed my pattern for a guy, never-mind one l haven’t met. I might be one of many waiting. As long as you keep churning these out - l will be waiting. Hey - l might not be much of a wordsmith but you do bring such a smile to my face… please give me warning when you take a deserved vacation.
Thank you so much, you flatter me. And don't worry, even though I am going on vacation at the end of the month, I will have a story lined up in my absence!
This is one of the best zombie stories so far and they haven’t even moved. I’ve often thought about what would happen if you were trapped in certain areas and u had to use the equipment available. Let’s hope it’s not a yarn barn😅 20:24
If there's an ad in the middle, then thats a screw up on RUclips part (it happens). I do an ad break every 12-14 minutes, which is considerably longer than anything on cable. I wish I could do it without ads, but can't

Once again, first class.

Thank You 🙏

Thank you! Hopefully one of these days I can get it on film
This is nice, I LOVE zombie books, THANK YOU SO MUCH for sharing these... These are part of my nightly routine, I can't sleep without playing one...
Jesus. These stories are so scary. Honestly, I hope this never happens. I'm 70 and I don't know if I would survive. 😅
I'm late to the party but this does not diminish the joy this brings me. Thank you
Never to late to join this party
Well. I understand that they all cant be kittens and cuddles but..... So sad. Great writing. Thanks for sharing this with us.
Another great story Derek
Glad you enjoyed it!
I had to look for you this time.
That's ok.
You're worth the effort.
You've really got me looking forward to these.
Thanks.
Hope you enjoy! And thanks!
We need more Derek 🙏🏽
always enjoy how some of your stories end with everyone dying, or in this case atleast a implied death at the end.
Yeah can't always have happy endings in the apocalypse
Ending had me sad lol. Good story.
Another good one.
Thank you Derek!!!
I'd been looking foward to this, for erm, eight days! [I do like your works].
Thanks Neil! Hope you're doing well buddy
@@DerekSlatonHorrorAuthor Still eating. Corned beef hash Neil-style tonight.
My heart sank at the end. I loved the story. I Always have to remember that not everyone will not make it😢. GREAT STORY ❤
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it! And yeah, not everything in the zombie apocalypse is going to have a happy ending

Bloody Brilliant
Thank you!

Awwww Vinnie😢
Thanks for another awesome story! I don’t know how you do it..
Glad you enjoy it! And it's years of dreaming about telling stories and finally having the chance to do so.
@@DerekSlatonHorrorAuthor You are a phenomenal storyteller.
Wow, this was a sad one
Vinny was a fool at the end.
I can see me ending it that way.
A man can withstand any how, if, he has a sufficient why.

Yarn barn, haha. Although those knitting needles could be useful....
@@DerekSlatonHorrorAuthor nice to nit u 😂🤣
Have you considered doing a one off for the ISS?
I haven't yet, but it's an interesting idea tho!
@DerekSlatonHorrorAuthor on another side not do you use Twitter? I often don't get notifications on uploads from YT despite having the Bell on
An ad per chapter and every other one has another ad in the middle. The ai voice is bad enough but the constant interruptions is maddening.

❤ 6:23 6:24 6:25
How did you guys survive the apocalypse? We killed so many there was a wall. The rest couldn’t see us.😅 21:44
Jippiaye?😋🤣🇧🇻
crap
Sorry you didn't enjoy the story
