The coolest part to me is the fact that these kids, and more than likely their parents, weren't even born when this song came out. Great music transcends time and space. Guaranteed there are a couple dozen new STYX fans in the world from that room .
You think those kids were having fun? They'll never forget that they got to play music with Tommy Shaw......warms your heart to see such a beautiful thing!
I saw Styx twice...once for Kilroy tour and once a few years later. I was fortunate enough to see their original lineup with drummer John Panozzo RIP. I love Styx's earlier stuff!❤❤ at one point during Kilroy Tommy Shaw jumped off the stage and ran up the aisle to at least 30th or 40th row!
You have to do the 15 minute medley that Styx did with this youth orchestra. Tommy has worked with them a number of times, but in this one video they weave together many of their hits, at one time, each song flowing into the next perfectly. And the kids go crazy playing and dancing during the songs. The production is on a much bigger stage, and with the whole Styx band there it is GREAT! If you liked this, you'll be blown away by the medley they do.
Thank you so much for this. Never saw it before. I love the talent and the enthusiasm from the orchestra who were not even born when Styx was big. Most enjoyable!
This brings tears of joy to my eyes!! What an experience of a lifetime for these kids!! Tommy Shaw is such an inspiration, I wish more rock artists would do this.
This is making me teary-eyed.... the song itself has such a good, strong, POWERFUL message. We human beings, individually and as a group have so much more that we can accomplish than we can truly see. Our ATTITUDES determine our outcomes. These young people understand that. It is good to see

Always loved this song. Thanks for reacting to it. To see Tommy Shaw sharing his gifts and encouraging youth who have musical gifts to keep on playing is just great! They sound wonderful together! There also is a fun little version of this same song on RUclips that Tommy sang to his dog with lyrics altered to suit the dog, his wife filming. It was during the 2020 shutdown and Tommy was in his jammies at home. Seems like such a genuine person. And vocals are still so good.
I grew up listening to Styx! They were my favorite band ever! I wanted to be Mrs. Tommy Shaw LOL! They are all gifted musicians and this is a beautiful version of this song. Thank you SalvoG!!
When I first saw this, I cried myself silly - to be one of those kids and make THAT sound......together.......it was just amazing and it remains so, today.
Tommy doesn't age. That was so special with the kids choir & orchestra. WOW!! They were SO GOOD. I loved all the strings coming together towards the end as well. Gave me goose bumps. Always loved that song. I'm not sure if you reacted to "Grand Illusion" or "Come Sail Away", but please do.
God, I love this so much. I'm so glad you reacted to it. I cry every time I watch this video and you captured it so well, people in a room together creating beautiful music. Superb.
Had the opportunity to watch Styx in concert at the University of Houston in 1978. Not only is this symphonic version upbeat and fun, but Tommy Shaw looks better now than back then.
The most amazing thing is that this performance could not have been so perfect with one single player missing, no matter how small a part they played. A+
Wow! I have heard this song a hundred times, but not like this! This rivals the Collective Soul concert with the Atlanta Youth Orchestra! It is worth watching!
Tommy Shaw has a lot of great songs; some of my favorites are no released songs, like Ever Since the World Began from Ambition, although Ambition was a good song as well. Title track Girls With Guns was Guns was a top 10 song for Shaw; while Remo's Theme (What If), was the theme for the movie Remo William: The Adventure Begins. Too bad; it didn't. The movie flopped, but the song was fairly popular. Nature of the Beast from the What If album is another fav of mine.
Eff Tommy Shaw and eff James Young for destroying my favorite 70's prog-rock group because of their own insecurities and jealousies. And, oh look! Tommy Shaw is now performing with orchestration decades after the guy he was jealous of was already doing it! How PRECIOUS!
Really is sad how they did Dennis. The mix of talented individuals with their different styles was what made the band special. One side without the other is nowhere near the same; together they were greater than the sum of their parts.

you took the words right off my keyboard.
You think those kids were having fun? They'll never forget that they got to play music with Tommy Shaw......warms your heart to see such a beautiful thing!
There's also a video of all of Styx playing with the same orchestra. Tommy is such a good man!!
Tommy Shaw is an incredible singer and musician - don't sleep on his time with Damn Yankees.
Love damn yankees! Wish they would've done more music.

Yeah, something very appealing about successful adults giving back to the community, and to the next generation.

Tommy Shaw also did Renegade with the Youth Contemporary Orchestra. (Also on RUclips)
And Blue Collar man which was sensational.
OOOOO this is the BEST version of this song.
Those kids were AMAZING!!!! Tommy's vocals are just the icing on a delicious cake!!
What a wonderful performance! That it's kids makes it even better.
That First Chair is amazing!
Thank you so much for this. Never saw it before. I love the talent and the enthusiasm from the orchestra who were not even born when Styx was big. Most enjoyable!
While watching those talented young men and women playing along with Tommy Shaw I couldn't help but think of the movie Mr.Holland's Opus!
Thanks for your words! Always proud of my students work and this was one of my proudest moments as a conductor and educator. ❤
Those kids were amazing!
Cannot love this enough! The transcription for orchestra is brilliant
"Very cool. Very cool." "Super cool."
Very super cool.
Tommy Shaw wrote this song, “Fooling Yourself (Angry Young Man)” about Dennis DeYoung.
Going to see Styx/Foreigner in about 4 weeks,,,,,can't wait. 💥💥💥👍😎
This brings tears of joy to my eyes!! What an experience of a lifetime for these kids!! Tommy Shaw is such an inspiration, I wish more rock artists would do this.

That was awesome. I've yet to see a live orchestra. That's something I need to do. I get why you were so moved. It was just gorgeous

I would LOVE more Styx.
God, I love this so much. I'm so glad you reacted to it. I cry every time I watch this video and you captured it so well, people in a room together creating beautiful music. Superb.
Wow. Amazing version of Fooling yourself. The violin solos and choir added so much to the song. Thanks for posting.
Watching these young people playing instruments and singing should remind all of us to not let music classes disappear from schools!
Styx is the soundtrack of my teenage years ❤ thank you! The orchestra was absolutely incredible 😮❤
Tommy is older than me. And that's saying something. An incredible musician, performer and song writer. You'll never get another of him.
You need to also listen to the Styx version. It's amazing!
Had the opportunity to watch Styx in concert at the University of Houston in 1978. Not only is this symphonic version upbeat and fun, but Tommy Shaw looks better now than back then.
Talented kids.❤
I could listen to this all day. I even bought the album.
As said, the sheer joy of the kids is such a heartwarming sight.
One word...JUBILATION!🥁🎻🎙🎶
The most amazing thing is that this performance could not have been so perfect with one single player missing, no matter how small a part they played. A+

🇬🇧 Wow! The orchestra were wonderful. Tommy Shaw? Phenomenal, as always. ❤🎼🎙️✨
Great reaction. Keep up the great work.
FANTASTIC! Thank you for sharing this, I've never seen it, grew up with Styx. There's some prodigy lil' ones right there shining bright....BRAVO!
Wow 🤩 Love this🎼♥️♥️
Love this 🥰
Never heard this version before. Seeing such a group of talented young musicians is heartening.
This concert was amazing. Tommy is too cool. They do Renegade too. If you can find Tommy in Daryl’s House check it out
Wow! This was a great version of this song. Tommy really still has an amazing voice.
I have this video.
The whole thing is a concert. There's a break where he talks about how great it was working with the kids. Class act man.🤩
Love, Love, Love this version of this Styx classic!
Tommy is always amazing, but that young violinist stole the show!
Wow! I have heard this song a hundred times, but not like this! This rivals the Collective Soul concert with the Atlanta Youth Orchestra! It is worth watching!
Loved this version for some time.
❤ this!
I absolutely love your reaction. The first time I saw this that was my same reaction. You’re awesome man keep on going.❤️✌️🌼
Watch the entire concert. Amazing
Oh I got to see him STYX perform on my bday last year…I grew up with Mr. roboto…
This is incredible
Me too brother, me too.
Your reaction to this is the same as mine, tears of joy!!
I've just rejoined you. Tommy was amazing with this youth orchestra. As I said below Blue Collar Man is sensational.
Saw Tommy as a solo opener for Rush!!! Great musician!!!
"Man In The Wilderness" another of Tommy's then go way back to their second album: "Lady" and "You Need Love"
The last time I saw Styx they performed with the Nashville symphony. It was great.
They also did a zoom song during the pandemic that was incredible.
Don't kniw if you'll see this, since this is an older video, but a great song from Tommy's solo album
7 Deadly Zens is
"What Do You Want From Life?"
Another group, Godsmack has a song(watching the video I'd a must!) called Unforgettable. It has the band working with a bunch of youth.
Such an important plan of action for a certain segment of today's young American men.
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
This was awesome! It's too bad we couldn't get the OG Styx lineup back together for this... it would have been even more magical.
I saw the whole concert on AXS TV... very good show... hey Salvo check out "Loreli" from this same show.

🌊
Before Styx hit it big they played at the prom of a nearby high school.
All teenagers its great
Damn Yankees. The song Come Again. Tommy Shaw and Ted Nugent.
Eff Tommy Shaw and eff James Young for destroying my favorite 70's prog-rock group because of their own insecurities and jealousies. And, oh look! Tommy Shaw is now performing with orchestration decades after the guy he was jealous of was already doing it! How PRECIOUS!

Personally, I like the Styx version better. You need to hear Styx's 'Snowblind'. It's one of my favorites.
Just like you. Get cooked up over the exact same things!
