    Hi John thanks for the interesting vlog much appreciated. The rectifier vlog was also of interest to me as I have in the past and possibly future building service vans for work on hgv installing electrical systems using 12v van to change and power 24v hgv systems and have noticed faults cropping up, sometimes the charging relay was at 33v consequently some systems failed and had to be replaced. It was only by chance I noticed this when checking a technicians van who had complained of electrical issues connected my test meter and noticed a sudden spike of 30+ volts. Now I have to persuade my boss to retrospectively fit regulators to all our fleet vehicles. Thanks again for your vlogs cheers Rod

    Interesting findings John, thanks for sharing - impressed with the dual aerial improvement. Odd ref the power supply needing regulation if 12/24v isn’t it.
    All the best, David 👍

    Great video and super helpful! Personally I love HomeFi and am constantly using it as a full time RVer that has to work remotely. It has been the best and most reliable option i've tried so far.

    I love these GL.Inet routes for travelling. I used one in the Solomon Islands for about 4 months with starlink and using a 4g failover. It worked ok which was great. But also being able to use many different services such as a wifi connection meant I could connect to almost anything and have it fail over.
    The biggest problem I have found ATM with these devices with built in 4/5g is that none of them support eSIM's. and when traveling internationally there are so many good deals but all rely on eSIM's

    Hi John thanks for the video I've ordered the GL.iNet GL-X3000. For the aerial I don't have any place for the bracket to go. Do you suggest a bolt on through the roof type like the Poynting XPOL-1 V2 5G . thanks

    In our old MH I used a TP-Link MR600 (4G+ dual band) and was getting up to 150 Mbps which was great obviously but something I did not consider and wanted to know what your thoughts were was this:
    Is there any benefit to getting a 4G puk or antenna that has better gain for the frequencies used by the 4G provider of choice?

    Hi John, great informative video as always! Just a question with regard to the antenna, I use the same one myself on my 4G set up and found it to work well but thinking of upgrading the router due to having to do random reboots, in your link you describe it as 4G/5G but the item description on the web page does not mention 5G, does it pick up the 5G signal anyway?

      @GadgetJohn Hi John follow you with my wife on your journey, we found you and Mandy just after lock down. As we were thinking of going full time.
      Which have been since Octobr last year.
      So I work from the van on a laptop but would like another screen. Is there a portable screen out there, that is rechargeable?
      We are running of 1600w Inverter, with solar. We manage quiet well with both our laptops.
      Just need something extra, we also have a River 2 Ecoflow Powerbank
      My apologies for all the questions, hope you can point me in right direction.
      Keep your spirits up, and send our love to Mandy.

    Have had the GLi in our Moho here in Spain for around 6 months now and what a massive difference - I am only using internal aerials at present but been looking at the Poynting aerial but so expensive, so will do some research on yours and see if I can get them here in Spain. Can’t ship from UK as customs will grab them and charge me a premium

      I’ve not seen anything on the router software that refers to virtual sim, it has 2 physical sim slots and that’s all you get to see in the settings.

      The battens ends are sma, so they’re tiny and easily fit through the gland fittings

    Another interesting video John, out of interest, given the voltage sensitive nature of many devices is it not possible to fit one big fat voltage regulator at source so to speak. This would do away with the need for individual units as the total 12v system would then be stabilized?

    • @GadgetJohn
      @GadgetJohn  2 месяца назад

      I’ve covered this in a few comments on the other video. It’s always worth checking the comments for common questions.

      It's hard to find a high-wattage regulator. The biggest I found, on Amazon at least, was144W/12A so you can use one, but be aware of what you are connecting to it and maybe use multiples of them for different circuits. I've bought three little fuseboards and have one so far feeding a fuseboard with the fridge, the 12v car adapters and the diesel heater, I'll have a 19v one (actually 285W) feeding another fuseboard for some 19v stuff, speakers, projector, laptop charging) and currently have the remaining fuseboard unregulated.

    • @MartWilliams
      @MartWilliams 2 месяца назад

      After having fitted mine, one thing I've realised is that you'll get a voltage drop over lengths of wires, so my fridge was not in fact getting 12V, but nearer to 11.7, or lower. And I think this meant it wasn't able to cool as much as it was when it was getting 13v+
      So best practice is probably going to be separate regulators fitted as close to the device being powered if low voltage is going to be an issue. I've had to wire my fridge direct to the non regulated fuseboard.

      @@trevorhoward7169 I think what John said was that the terminal voltage of a fully charged lead acid battery, or a battery on charge, can be high enough to upset some "12 volt equipment.
