Most likely, this dude was just running a scam taxi to make some money while fooling customers into thinking he was a real employee working for a taxi company or uber. But he would have (probably) gotten the customers where they wanted to go.
Glad you listened to your gut, from what I've heard Florida is one of the hot spots in the USA for human trafficking. I don't know if that was what the guy was up to but given your description of his behavior I can tell you with 100% certainty that his intentions were less than pure.

There was a case when I was in south Florida where a woman threw an alligator into an Arby's in an attempt to murder someone. Florida is weird...and beautiful...Beautifully weird. lol

You all made the right call not getting into the car it could have ended very badly. its sad but it is not entirely uncommon for people to fool tourists like this, driving the people away to a predetermined location to be either robbed or worse. when traveling to an unfamiliar area if your gut says it isnt right. listen to your instincts

As someone who takes uber daily, you gotta watch out for those kinds of people. Uber has this neat little trick where you can verify the driver that will pick you up (like holding up a color on your phone, or specifying a certain pick up spot, but you probably knew that.😅) Disney and Universal can be a hot spot for those kinds of guys. Always make sure to check, especially now. Holidays bring out those guys/girls like cockroaches

I'm glad you guys had fun at Disney! First and last time I was at Disney in Florida was for a band competition in high school. I played Bari sax for jazz and one of the judges claimed he played Bari before and made very sexist remarks towards me and how I played. The other judges rated us 90+ while he rated us 60+ points... not only did that dampen my trip, but my friends kinda ditched me so I spent a good portion of the trip kinda alone. I really want a redo of Disney one day because that trip was honestly kinda depressing for me 😂😭

This trip to DisneyWorld/Universal Studios Florida sounds like a real adventure, with or without the shady guy and his van. P.S. I went to the Rainforest Cafe in the MGM Grand in Las Vegas in 2010, and I haven't gone to one since. I really wish someone would take me. The atmosphere alone is worth repeat visits, not to mention my dad was making faces at the crocodile animatronic. It made for a funny picture, let me tell you.
I watch these story time videos and I think to myself, “I’m not that interesting. I have lived the most boring life the world has ever seen.” I guess I’ve been so caught up with my own situation that it was very hard for me to have weird moments in my life.
Honestly, you probably have had some weird stuff happen to you that would make for a good story that you just didn't realize was weird at the time or that would only sound weird to someone else. If you only compare your experiences to story videos like these, it may just be a case of not having the perspective you need.

i have a few friends who live in florida, and when i went there with my family (to disneyworld, universal, and magic kingdom) they warned me to stay with my family and be safe as theres lots of creeps, traffickers, and kidnappers in florida. i remember a lot of weird guys looking at me and getting worried, thankfully i usually had my dad behind my back and hes a big guy so i was ok. glad you and the others are safe tho!!

I had a similar fake Uber experience in New York City but thankfully it ended in a good way. 5 mounted policemen charged through Times Square to chase down the scammer after I gave the driver $250. The police arrested the guy and he returned my money. The Yellow cabs at the time charged a flat rate of $77 to/from JFK airport!

It's a good thing you didn't get in that car. Most uber drivers, Lyft drivers, or Taxi drivers will not only have a sticker or sign indicating they're one of those kinds of drivers, but they also wouldn't get mad over being asked if someone can see it to the point of driving away.

I got to see all sorts of places when I was younger, since my father worked as a band director and the summer trip always spared more than enough tickets for our family. We usually got to bring some friends, which was pretty great. One time at magic springs, there was a huge storm. No one got to the bus without getting drenched in rain, we were all pretty disappointed, and we had to go home sooner. But over all, I think it was pretty nice that we got to go at all.

I have been to DisneyWorld in Florida before, so I have 3 things to say: 1) Florida is hotter than it is in Australia? Huh, you learn something new every day. 2) The Dinosaur ride was... okay. I mean, the Carnotaurus is kinda cool, but the rest of the ride is kinda lame. I think you dodged a bullet with that one. 3) Why didn't you talk about Pandora? I had never seen the movie before coming to Disneyland, and even with no real info about the movie, that one section was the BIGGEST HIGHLIGHT of my trip. It's so beautiful.
When my family was in Jamaica there was a line of taxis and when we were getting in one the guy behind it said he'd drive use for half price. We got in the second guys car and he told us the car we were about to get into was in human trafficking and kidnapped tourists. He was probably just messing with us but it's still a weird story
Wolfychu, I'm just glad you didn't have to deal with the rain. Last time I went down to Disney it was boiling, and making me just want to jump into a fountain, but before that it rained a whole load for the week I was there. To the point every time it rained my shoes would get soggy as heck! It poured, thunder appeared here and there, and the rain felt to the point your feet were on needles! That “driver” was about to rob or kill you guys, in Florida you need to be careful because anyone that see you as a good target, never comes back alive and I’m glad you and your family is safe.
Thankfully you and your family got out of that alright. Florida is bad for crime and I’m 90% sure that it was a guy who would’ve driven you to another location where others would be waiting to rob you all at gunpoint or something. Or the guy was involved in human trafficking. If you ever go to Florida again in the future, don’t get into anyone’s car with out the verifying stickers, and don’t trust people who come up to on the streets asking for help (if it seems genuine, call the police, don’t follow them or give them money, if they run when you call the police then you’ll know they weren’t legit). Believe me when I say to trust your gut in Florida, it might just save your life.
Fun tip: go to Disneyland when it’s raining or better yet when it’s like about to Snow {Why it’s good} 1) no one is there 2) you can wear comfy clothes like a Jacket or something like that 3) no linessssssss 😍😍 4) you can get tickets easier 5) puddles and no one is there you can jump in the pubbles no one is gonna say to themselves “what are they doing” 6) the indoor rides are so fun 7) I think pretty much anyway is gonna have Hot chocolate and let me tell you its amazing 8- OH WAIT THERE IS NO 8!!!!!

i have a few friends who live in florida, and when i went there with my family (to disneyworld, universal, and magic kingdom) they warned me to stay with my family and be safe as theres lots of creeps, traffickers, and kidnappers in florida. i remember a lot of weird guys looking at me and getting worried, thankfully i usually had my dad behind my back and hes a big guy so i was ok. glad you and the others are safe tho!!

I had a similar fake Uber experience in New York City but thankfully it ended in a good way. 5 mounted policemen charged through Times Square to chase down the scammer after I gave the driver $250. The police arrested the guy and he returned my money. The Yellow cabs at the time charged a flat rate of $77 to/from JFK airport!

It's a good thing you didn't get in that car. Most uber drivers, Lyft drivers, or Taxi drivers will not only have a sticker or sign indicating they're one of those kinds of drivers, but they also wouldn't get mad over being asked if someone can see it to the point of driving away.

I got to see all sorts of places when I was younger, since my father worked as a band director and the summer trip always spared more than enough tickets for our family. We usually got to bring some friends, which was pretty great. One time at magic springs, there was a huge storm. No one got to the bus without getting drenched in rain, we were all pretty disappointed, and we had to go home sooner. But over all, I think it was pretty nice that we got to go at all.

I have been to DisneyWorld in Florida before, so I have 3 things to say:
1) Florida is hotter than it is in Australia? Huh, you learn something new every day.
2) The Dinosaur ride was... okay. I mean, the Carnotaurus is kinda cool, but the rest of the ride is kinda lame. I think you dodged a bullet with that one.
3) Why didn't you talk about Pandora? I had never seen the movie before coming to Disneyland, and even with no real info about the movie, that one section was the BIGGEST HIGHLIGHT of my trip. It's so beautiful.

When my family was in Jamaica there was a line of taxis and when we were getting in one the guy behind it said he'd drive use for half price. We got in the second guys car and he told us the car we were about to get into was in human trafficking and kidnapped tourists. He was probably just messing with us but it's still a weird story

Wolfychu, I'm just glad you didn't have to deal with the rain. Last time I went down to Disney it was boiling, and making me just want to jump into a fountain, but before that it rained a whole load for the week I was there. To the point every time it rained my shoes would get soggy as heck! It poured, thunder appeared here and there, and the rain felt to the point your feet were on needles! Glad you did have a fun time and glad you're safe Wolfy!

That “driver” was about to rob or kill you guys, in Florida you need to be careful because anyone that see you as a good target, never comes back alive and I’m glad you and your family is safe.
Thankfully you and your family got out of that alright. Florida is bad for crime and I’m 90% sure that it was a guy who would’ve driven you to another location where others would be waiting to rob you all at gunpoint or something. Or the guy was involved in human trafficking.
If you ever go to Florida again in the future, don’t get into anyone’s car with out the verifying stickers, and don’t trust people who come up to on the streets asking for help (if it seems genuine, call the police, don’t follow them or give them money, if they run when you call the police then you’ll know they weren’t legit). Believe me when I say to trust your gut in Florida, it might just save your life.

2) you can wear comfy clothes like a Jacket or something like that

4) you can get tickets easier
5) puddles and no one is there you can jump in the pubbles no one is gonna say to themselves “what are they doing”
6) the indoor rides are so fun
7) I think pretty much anyway is gonna have Hot chocolate and let me tell you its amazing
