Smart. They try to give young artists some really predatory contracts and that “million dollars” is actually a loan and the artist is usually in debt to the label. The artist makes almost no money on their music alone, so they have to go on tours to pay back the label or start businesses and do press releases and stuff.

The best thing an artist can do is stay independent. They can control their music, image, etc. With social media they have their fan base. They don’t even need to tour, they can do live chats and sing. Might not make millions but peace of mind is priceless

the reason the labels are offering him a better percentage rate is because he has done the successful marketing campaigns himself and created a huge hit, but i hope he remains independent or if he does sign eventually maybe with BMG because they seem to be favoured by artists. Technology has made it capable for artists to become independent. The reason the music labels are offering him such lucrative deals is because they know he's profitable. He could keep all that profit. He could expand just as much alone as with a record label. He has the capability to establish his own team/network. It's just harder than working with an established record label. If you're a capable / motivated person going independent is usually the best option.

Technology has made it capable for artists to become independent. The reason the music labels are offering him such lucrative deals is because they know he's profitable. He could keep all that profit. He could expand just as much alone as with a record label. He has the capability to establish his own team/network. It's just harder than working with an established record label.
If you're a capable / motivated person going independent is usually the best option.

Seriously though, there are very few reasons to sign to a label these days, and if he can get that kind of success without one then they'd just be taking his money, the rights to his music, potentially his creative control, etc.
And remember independent artists get to enjoy 100% royalties as well as publishing royalties
You don't need a label, he needs social media. Keep posting in tiktok, spotify, RUclips etc and let the word spread. You don't need a company to produce music if you already talented, they don't produce cds anymore, he just needs to list on Spotify, iTunes etc. He can also raise money to produce mvs.

Yes and when I found outhe sang 'So Will I' at one of his concerts I was so happy. He definitely stands apart from others and the bunch of whoever sits in the record label big chairs.
If his next song flops he won’t be offered any good deals, seen as a one hit wonder, whereas a label would of given him financial security and just knowing if anything he can try more things musically, when ur independent you really put your life on the line and every track can mean the end or continuation of ur career

Don't like the song personally, but I respect anyone for staying independent. It's very hard to stay true to your roots as an artist when people are waving millions in front of your face.
