Just bought the K5, I prev had the k3. The quality and feel of the interior v is much better, feels great against my face. The weight is much lighter. The aerodynamics are much better although similar shape the k5 doesn't want to rip your head off when you look up. The k5 is quieter, I've been riding without earplugs whereas the k3 I had to. I've bought the exact same size as my k3 and it fits true. K5 has a d ring instead of the click on type. Im very happy I made the purchase.
Im planning to get into biking soon when i turn 18 and get an a2 license and this comparison really helped me understand the benefits of getting a k5 aka a more expensive helmet over what i initially intended to get, an icon airflite...
@@lucyluke9468 ehh i still need to wait like 3 months untill i can start driving school so havent gotten any helmet yet... but i recommend u get either the agv k5s or a shoei nxr... but first go to a store and test what helmets suit ur head shape from those 2...
@@lucyluke9468 OOF I have both the AGV K1, K5-S and the Icon Airflite. And I really do not like the Airflite, too much wind noise and hard to get off my head.
thank you. exactly what i needed to know. I liked the K5 and just needed to know why the extra money as the K3 looked ok, Im going for a K5 as noise and weight are important to me.
Im pretty sure both are fiberglass. Their Corsa R model is carbon-aramidic-fiberglass. I think the k5 has Kevlar mixed with the fiberglass so the shell can be made thinner but stronger. Also, my wife has the k3 sv and her neck roll does come out. Its snapped in and has shives that slide behind the styrofoam. I have the K5 and i do love it. Just as much as my old arai that cost me a mortgage payment 😆..
I have a K3-SV in Rossi Five Continents Design. I use Class 5 ear plugs so noise is not an issue. In saying that I'll be moving up the AGV ladder when the K3-SV requires replacing. Only issue I have with my K3-SV is it fogs up a little. Is the K5 any better in that respect ?
Hey dude, The K5 still has the fogging issue but then again so does the Pista GP’s i have found the the fogging was less on the K5 to begin with when it was brand new but as time went on and the seals wore it got a little worse. Hope this helps man 👍🏻
You got the k5 because it matched your bike... well guess why I am looking at it 😂😂 thx for the review because there aren't many out there. The one im looking at is a bit different in terms of colour. It is the k5s hero with the matte black and thin red lines that match the colour of the ducati monster I want to buy as my next bike!
The liner has little black locating pins. That clip into the shell of the helmet. And if you’re talking about the neck roll that if you get a light you see little plastic clips between the outer shell of the helmet and the foam inner shell just push the neck roll locating cut outs into those clips they do require a bit of pressure sometimes.
You have made my mind up, K5 it is but are the sizes the same as my K3 as i have a XL and hope when i purchase my new K5 XL its the same size, 👍 was the Sena easy to install also.. John
Aerodynamics are pretty much the same across the three due to the fact they have almost the same shell design. However the K5 is made from better quality materials than the others.
@@Pilzi02 Yes, I know about the K6. I saw a review from Champion Helmets two months ago, and the helmet looked amazing. And few days ago where AGV finally released it at their website, looks amazing again.
The K1 is good it is slightly different to the K3 the K3 is the cheapest of the line up and is made from a polycarbonate. And has a ratchet style strap which is garbage imo. Where as the K1 is in between the K3 and K5 The K1 is made from a different material it isn’t carbon fiber deposit or polycarbonate it’s made from a thermoplastic which isn’t ideal because it tends to bounce on impact. And imo the vents are easier to use than the K3 and K5 design And the K1 doesn’t have the sun visors like the k5 and k3. But it does come with a pinlock visor and you can always buy tinted visors like what i do regardless of the sun visor. The K1 is comfortable and worth the price. It also jas the D rings like the K5 But i still think you’re better off going the K5 for the extra 100 or so $$
I currently have a K5S but am getting a K3-SV 2014 Misano soon. My Sena SMH 10-R fits great in the K5, I was wondering if I would be able to put a Sena in the K3-SV and it fit as well? It's been tricky finding an answer on forums. Thanks!

Does the k5 run big or small, is it really snug? And can I use glasses with it?
I couldn't agree more on the K3, but the noise level is a big, big deal if you do traveling. For everything else it is fantastic value.
Thanks for doing this. It helped me decide which one to buy.

How can I get that agv k5 helmet with that graphic?
How do you get the liners back in properly on the K5 I can't get the bottom pads back in properly
The liner has little black locating pins. That clip into the shell of the helmet.

Congratulations on the weight loss, but how would that drop your head size from a Large to a MS?!
Thanks.
It’s not the head size that changes. It’s the weight held in your cheeks and face preventing you from wearing a smaller helmet.
You have made my mind up, K5 it is but are the sizes the same as my K3 as i have a XL and hope when i purchase my new K5 XL its the same size, 👍 was the Sena easy to install also..

Hi John did you get the K5? I have the K3 and am looking at K5 for next year. My K3 is XL I am wondering about the size also?
Can I swap agv k1 visor to k5 or k3 ? ...are the k5 and k3 visor interchangeable to k1 ?
Yes they’re. K1 K3 and K5 can all have the same visors installed on them.
Can i use k1 for touring?
if the agv k3 fit me well (in shape), will the k5 fit well as well?
Yes they’re very similar.
Are AGV helmets quiet? I had a hjc, on a quiet bike and my ears were ringing in the helmet. I could only cope with earplugs. I don't want HJC anymore.
The k3 is noisey.
The K5 is quiet when it’s new but does get noisey as it ages. But that’s to be expected as things wear over time.
How about K3 SV? Or that’s pretty much the same?
K3 SV is the exact same as the K3 however it has a Sun Visor inbuilt that’s what the SV stands for both of the helmets in the video are SV options.
Great review. Thanks
In *terms of aerodynamics,* is the *K5 S* better than the *K3 SV* and *K1?*
