THIS Is Why Former Navy Seal Andy Stumpf Hunts!

  • Andy Stumpf, former Navy SEAL, and avid outdoorsman, was never interested in rifle hunting. In fact, he wasn't really sold on hunting at all until his buddy Joe Rogan wouldn't "shut up about it." After learning to bow hunt with Professional Archery Athlete, John Dudley, Andy was hooked. He continued to bow hunt until he was forced to rifle hunt. The forced switch of tools caused Andy to grapple with rifle hunting ethics as a trained, elite marksman. His journey led him to honor the animal through harvesting and to be the most respectful participant with the wild, in the wild.

    What Andy didn't tell us, that his weapon of choice his last deployment was the Javelin =)

    One of the many great things about Andy, is his humility. He doesn't pretend to have answers for the listener, and he's self deprecating in the respect that he jokingly claims to not have the answers for himself either. But you can tell by his zen, that everything he does is well thought out, well prepared, and nothing is left to chance. He didn't survive in some of the most hostile places on earth by accident. Discipline, preparation, and surrounding yourself with professionals is mandatory. The bottom line is I would consider a purchase based on his recommendation because you know damn well he put enough thought into it for all of us. Well done.

    Andy,
    What a phenomenal video. I was thrilled the whole time. Hunting and fishing have always been apart of my life. I was raised on a farm in Kansas. I was fortunate, My 5 brothers taught me the skills needed.
    Some of my best memories growing up...
    hunting and fishing w/my siblings.
    Being 1 of 8 children, with extremely young parents... the meat was vital.
    Great 👍 show,
    Sincerely,
    Sandra Le La Cheur

    Don't know if you would ever read this Andy, but after my time in a classified job in the Navy, I have felt the same way ever since I came home decades ago. It's not just SEAL team members that feel this way. Never found that special click outside, but it should not stop a person from trying. I am a hunter and a fisherman also and so I immersed my time in those things as well as our farm

    I'm not one to compare people to one another but I can honestly say that with Mr. Stumpf's personality, humility, interpersonal skills, humbleness, and integrity, this guys is my generations (millennials) Jocko.

    The MPR looks freaking awesome . Hopefully you make one that uses 300 WSM. I've been wanting a modular chassis Precision Rifle for 300 WSM.
    Also in hoping that you guys will make 6ARC Carbon Barrels .

    Average range is likely well below that in most environments, more like 75-150yds.

    • @LRRPFco52
      @LRRPFco52 2 года назад

      Not in the Mountain West region. We see significantly longer distances due to the more open terrain. 300yds is pretty close, especially for elk in CO, WY, and UT.

    how many times can he mention factory farms. I think he needs to interview a few ranchers from Montana to broaden his outlook.

    • @SUNNofODIN
      @SUNNofODIN 3 года назад +4

      Given his context of respect and hard work, I took it as he is referring more to the types of factory farms negatively associated with consumerism and brands like Tyson where the worker and animal conditions can lean toward the criminal and any respect for the kill has been sanitized from the process.

    • @leecro83
      @leecro83 3 года назад +1

      @@SUNNofODIN I got the same feeling. Tyson was the first thing that popped in my mind when he said factory farms.

    Yes, I fully agree with Andy on Archery! I have killed alot of large mammals, Hogs, Deer, Bear but it has always felt like a rifle made it unfair to the animal! Don't get me wrong, I shoot 3-4 days a week long range precision...but it just doesn't feel right to me to hunt with my rifles. I'm not against anyone else doing it, I'm speaking on a personal satisfaction level here. I'm 50 and have severe RA, so my perspective may change with my health...but if I'm capable (even if its much more work and pain), I'll do it with a bow!

      To be honest though I don't think the Christensen Arms 338 Lapua was mainly created for hunting deer... or animals at all for that matter .. or finding yourself in the outdoors... Almost makes videos like these kinda cringe.. like can we just get to the point .. like maybe actually discuss the real capabilities of the weapon ...
