You know Tom's a based Brit when he still calls the country Burma in Myanmar, the top of the license plate refers to the city/region it's registered in. In the case of GO (which is actually BGO), it's referring to the Bago Region, a region just south of Naypyidaw. While colonized by the British just like India, Myanmar has been driving on the right since 1970. Why? Well, besides being a decision by the military regime, the answer isn't clear. They just one day decided "Hey y'all, you drive on the right now!" and it happened
I've got the Solomon Islands one with 4989 pts. The star on a blue background made me thinking of island nations near Australia (it's a common feature on the flags in the region I thought), and with a bit of luck, I got in!

18:55 rwanda is becoming the singapore of africa. Its copying a lot from them, for example they have Rwanda Airlines just like Singapore Airlines which is in hands of the government. Also they make sure the streets are really clean
Made the rookie mistake of not looking for the dot and accidentally assumed Mandalay to be the capital of Myanmar and lost 957 points there & also got 0 points on Solomon Islands, but otherwise perfect scores for the other 3 rounds. Love the play alongs. Keep em coming!!
on the bank of Kigali round you could've used the writing on the left curve of the building to finish the word ki-gali but I only know where that is because of the travel vlogger sabbatical
This was so exciting, Thank you Tom! And yes, I was one of them who got four perfect scores and one with 331! I put my luck on Gabon, because there was a japanese flag next to it. Glad I saw that one and you didn't :p
I had two guesses for that flag and tbh they were with no huge confidence. I guessed either Soloman islands or Seychelles. I probably would have just went for Soloman islands since I remembered that the Seychelles flag has diagonal coloured stripes so I would have been right but a very lucky guess at that.
11:27 if you have a nvidia graphics card there’s software you can get that allows for replays up to 5min (may be able to make it longer idk) and save it as a clip if you werent recording btw
1 point away from the perfect store! That driveway in Honiara was near impossible to spot on the map. 70th place overall though, can't complain about that!
Really enjoy these play along challenges! As for my performance this time: I was a bit careless in Myanmar and didn't even attempt a perfect score there, ended up 1.9km off, got lucky with the Solomon Islands round, was only about 50% sure about the flag but is was the best guess I had - would have never found the exact spot so chose a random location in the capital and ended 2.2km away. Other rounds where perfect, Cambodia with the full address + the ABA bank on the map made it easy, Monaco was easy and also instantly read Bank of Kigali - didn't even see the Rwanda clue you found since I went straight into the map when I read Kigali - total score of 24983 I'm happy with that.
Finally my pointless flag knowledge came in handy! I would have got that and the Monaco one because I've played enough Gran Turismo to know that's the track
dang, I got 24994 points. I couldn't figure out exactly where we were in the Soloman Islands, so I guessed the American War Memorial. I was shocked that you got the perfect spot in the first guess, but amusingly, when I clicked on mine, I got the perfect score too. you're very good with finding yourself on maps and you know a lot of meta info, but come on Tom, you should study more geography outside from Europe! haha
Fun Fact: As a British colony, Myanmar used to drive on the left. Even after independence it continued to do so till 1970 when PM Ne Win decided to switch to driving on the right for no apparent reason (some say his astrologer advised him to do so). Trouble is most of the cars are Japanese imports which are Right Hand Driven. So RHD cars are driven on the right side traffic making it quite dangerous.
Come for the GeoGuessr rounds, stay for the ABBA jokes and Tom's singing... Listening to ABBA songs is like having potato chips, can't stop at just one

For once, I actually knew something Tom didn’t know. I love flags, so the Solomon Islands was my first thought. However, looking for an African country was not a bad tactic!
Great map, hope you do more of these! Here's how I did. Round 1 - 5000 points, 5 meters Looked South East Asian, and narrowed it down to Myanmar by the script. Looked at the roads and the way it curved and, to my surprise, got it bang on. Round 2 - 5000 points, 6 meters Literally had the address right there. Round 3 - 5000 points, 5 meters Recognized Monaco after having visited years ago. French language with a large yacht port thingy. Found the road by looking at the proximity to the coast and saw the Casino Supermarchet with the pharmacy the next street over. Round 4 - 4994 points, 1.3 km Was about 78% sure it was the flag of the Solomon Islands (it's a weird hobby, shut up). Tried to find a road that looked similar, but didn't find anything that added 100% up. Didn't see that the road to the south must have been the main road, and didn't think the coast was that close. Went further inland to the south west of the correct location. Round 5 - 5000 points, 7 meters Saw "Bank of Kigali" and figured it was Rwanda. The street names were given on the signs, so found the spot. Total score of 24994
I beat you by one point with 4995 for Honiara haha. Was a tossup between Solomon and Marshall Islands flags for me but the terrain ruled out Majuro. The rest was pretty much the same except me being confused for a moment while I forgot that Monaco existed. Well played
18:45 there's an interesting video somewhere on youtube called something like "How Rwanda is becoming the Singapore of Africa". Despite knowing that I still didn't see the rwanda sign or get the right country though.
1st round: thought it looked like the thai language, eliminated thailand cambodia and laos because it was not official coverage. Correctly guessed myanmar, but on another intersection (pretty similar in my defence, same orientation) 4977 points 2nd round: whole address written on that shop, found the road, found aba bank, 5000 points EZ 3rd round: it felt like monaco straight from the beginning, orientation of the port correlated nicely, found the casino in the corner, 5000 points 4th round: knew the flag, zoomed in the solomon islands, thought it looked like a hotel. Zoomed into the capital clicked the first hotel that showed up, a heartbreaking 4999 5th round: thought i was fucked up, when about to give up and guess anywhere in africa i see the bank of kigali in the distance, another 5000 points. 24976, heartbreakingly close to 25k, great map, just really happy i beat tom
Finally I beat your score on a playalong!!! Managed a respectable 21499, lost a few points in Myanmar then lots on the Solomon Islands! Really enjoy watching you solve them in seconds when I have spent 30 minutes looking at every inch of the screen in zoom to find clues 🤣

Managed to get 3 perfects but the 4th one got me, too. I noticed the Japanese flag, however, so guessed somewhere in the south pacific and was only about 1100 miles off.
This is a great format! Somehow got the capital of Burma wrong and found a spot that looked perfect... 156 miles away. Never would have guesses the Solomon Islands!

I called napidaw about 30 secs into the first guess! Thanks, top gear burma special :) red and white kerbs, uk style traffic lights while driving on the right, and massive roads with no traffic 👍
18:55 rwanda is becoming the singapore of africa. Its copying a lot from them, for example they have Rwanda Airlines just like Singapore Airlines which is in hands of the government. Also they make sure the streets are really clean
Tom Davies, you are a true madlad
Made the rookie mistake of not looking for the dot and accidentally assumed Mandalay to be the capital of Myanmar and lost 957 points there & also got 0 points on Solomon Islands, but otherwise perfect scores for the other 3 rounds. Love the play alongs. Keep em coming!!
on the bank of Kigali round you could've used the writing on the left curve of the building to finish the word ki-gali but I only know where that is because of the travel vlogger sabbatical
By far the most entertaining series in a while.. lovely to see the notification in my inbox of this video. Great going!
Oh I can tell this will be a good video!
I loved that the Myanmar one was like an actual guess, and a freaking insane one too
11:27 if you have a nvidia graphics card there’s software you can get that allows for replays up to 5min (may be able to make it longer idk) and save it as a clip if you werent recording btw
I think it goes up to like 15 minutes but the file sizes are really large
AMD also has that built in so it should work regardless of what graphics card he has! (you may need to enable it for Google Chrome though idk)
You can just use OBS with replay buffer, and set whatever fps/bitrate, and thus filesize you want, at any recording length
1 point away from the perfect store! That driveway in Honiara was near impossible to spot on the map. 70th place overall though, can't complain about that!
woah. nice!
Yes, the first part of 'Kigali' was on the front of the Bank building and the last part was on the side.
Hey tom, tip for finding jerusalem, in jerusalem you will see everything made from “jerusalem stone”
Once you see the type of stone you will notice it is implemented into everything
It's my first time getting such a high score, 24890!!! I am so happy!!!
I spent my summer learning off all country flags and their capitals, glad it paid off with the Solomon Island one in Honiara
For once, I actually knew something Tom didn’t know. I love flags, so the Solomon Islands was my first thought. However, looking for an African country was not a bad tactic!
This is a great series! Please upload more of this!
Great map, hope you do more of these! Here's how I did.
Round 1 - 5000 points, 5 meters
Looked South East Asian, and narrowed it down to Myanmar by the script. Looked at the roads and the way it curved and, to my surprise, got it bang on.
Round 2 - 5000 points, 6 meters
Literally had the address right there.
Round 3 - 5000 points, 5 meters
Recognized Monaco after having visited years ago. French language with a large yacht port thingy. Found the road by looking at the proximity to the coast and saw the Casino Supermarchet with the pharmacy the next street over.
Round 4 - 4994 points, 1.3 km
Was about 78% sure it was the flag of the Solomon Islands (it's a weird hobby, shut up). Tried to find a road that looked similar, but didn't find anything that added 100% up. Didn't see that the road to the south must have been the main road, and didn't think the coast was that close. Went further inland to the south west of the correct location.
Round 5 - 5000 points, 7 meters
Saw "Bank of Kigali" and figured it was Rwanda.
Well played
Tom, these capital cities challenges are very entertaining. Like you said theres so many that it keeps it fun and we all learn.
10:00 and me sitting here recognizing the start/finish straight from F1 games :D
I really enjoy watching your videos, especially the old ones maybe because it has a different vibes compared to this present time.
Correctly guessed myanmar, but on another intersection (pretty similar in my defence, same orientation) 4977 points
2nd round: whole address written on that shop, found the road, found aba bank, 5000 points EZ
3rd round: it felt like monaco straight from the beginning, orientation of the port correlated nicely, found the casino in the corner, 5000 points
4th round: knew the flag, zoomed in the solomon islands, thought it looked like a hotel. Zoomed into the capital clicked the first hotel that showed up, a heartbreaking 4999
5th round: thought i was fucked up, when about to give up and guess anywhere in africa i see the bank of kigali in the distance, another 5000 points.
24976, heartbreakingly close to 25k, great map, just really happy i beat tom
Finally I beat your score on a playalong!!! Managed a respectable 21499, lost a few points in Myanmar then lots on the Solomon Islands! Really enjoy watching you solve them in seconds when I have spent 30 minutes looking at every inch of the screen in zoom to find clues 🤣
get yourself a streamdeck, so can configure an indicator right in front of you where you can see if you're filming or not!
Excuse me, but are you proposing something that will end the legendary "am I filming" checks?
How will we ever know if Tom is recording if he doesnt check though?
15:14
Meet Swampletics, my Morytania locked ultimate ironman. After recently maxing my ultimate ironman I decided to up the ante, and forge my own journey from scratch. No banking, no trading, but this time I can't leave Morytania.
Well played!
*he says 30 seconds after the video was released*
First time playing along with you, Mr. Wizard. 1st guess was way off, didn't spend enough time on it and thought the text on the car/billboard looked Greek so hastily chose Athens! Managed to get 3 perfects but the 4th one got me, too. I noticed the Japanese flag, however, so guessed somewhere in the south pacific and was only about 1100 miles off.
Nobody:
Fifa players , knowing who Aubameyang is and what Gabon’s flag is: 😭
I very much enjoyed the ABBA Tom, made my day :)
I got 18,466. 3 perfect scores and guessed Laos for the Burma one and Marshall Islands for the Solomon Round. Great vid fun as always
This is a great format! Somehow got the capital of Burma wrong and found a spot that looked perfect... 156 miles away. Never would have guesses the Solomon Islands!
That's funny. Played today, and the footage is different. Idea for episode maybe? Revisiting those challenges. :D
20:43 Which, in a way, is also perfect, since it could not be any lower.
Congratulations on 1 million subs. You sir are a gentleman and a scholar. To many more..
