    So sad hearing Captain America died. It's such a shame that you'll never be able to play as him. I mean, how can you? He's dead. Dead people can't play games, dead people can't fight. Besides, this is a comic book video game, death is permanent, so we're obviously never going to see Cap again. Ever. Because he's dead. He died in the Hellicarrier on A-Day and now he'd dead. RIP Captain America.

    but I love how they changed from captain vs iron man, to a bit hulk vs iron man. I love that bruce is the one to say that the avengers are a threat, because he is the only one who is fit to say it. Bruce is the one who knows what is like to be a danger, most of his life he as the hulk was a threat, so after a day and what happened, he felt that the avengers were responsible for what happened there, and he agreed that the avengers were a threat.

    • @Chuck_EL
      @Chuck_EL 2 года назад

      that's Bruce to a T he always brings up the worse case scenarios in anything because he wants everyone to realize what's at stake
      Reed would either say "we don't know yet" or "this will do it" and it's why even in the comics everyone goes to Bruce for any scientific evidence or advice
      He's also like this in the MCU endgame he was a mix of both hulk and banner but he still pointed out what would go wrong with the quantum realm manipulations

If you’re using a realistic art style, than you’re leading people to believe everything else will be grounded as well (and I’m sure they said that at some point). So it’s on them for either not clearly telegraphing what they’re going for or they failed to deliver on their goal.

      @@mrshmuga9 I think it's the writers that didn't really understand what they were writing. You know when they think that what they're writing is super deep and cool but it's actually really boring and annoying? That's what a lot of this game had. The Civil War line could work if it was used properly, like Captain America reminding Kamala of one of his biggest motivations to be a hero, but instead they wasted it on a weird comeback against a pathetic bully. The idea is there, but the execution is pretty bad. At least they didn't have Hulk get his head caved in at the beginning of the game and have that be the main story.

    Maybe I'm just showing my age, but I've grown to strongly dislike games that want you to grind the same content forever for an endless stream of bland numerical upgrades. I don't feel like dragging my feet through 50 hours of meh gameplay when I can go to so many other better games for 10 hours of *great*. There comes a point where you have to ask yourself "Am I having fun, or am I just continuing to play in hopes of having fun in the future?" and a lot of times games like Avengers just don't make the cut.

    • @mrshmuga9
      @mrshmuga9 3 года назад +6

      I think there’s enough content in the story mode and various character-specific side quests that if you stopped after that, you would get your money’s worth. Then when a new characters gets added you could always pick it up and play through their story content for free.
      But I get where you’re coming from and this is even the first live service game I’ve played. I couldn’t really care for the, in general.

    I think Avengers has a lot of issues, and they're all well documented so I won't go and list them all here... but i think there's a great game buried beneath them all somewhere. Each hero has unique play style, and for me personally outside of the Hulk, they're all a blast to play. I remember when Destiny came out it was had a few similar issues and it got this major update that revamped the game quite a bit and then it seemed to really all come together for them. I think this is going to be the same thing. Maybe it's when it launches on Next Gen or maybe it's when we start getting more heroes added in, but I think this game is going to eventually get a MASSIVE update that will make a great game.

  • @shism28
    @shism28 2 года назад +2

    My changes for the game would be:
    1. Steve is dead. He isn’t revealed to be kept alive, he just dies, but Captain America doesn’t. We could have Sam have his character arc be stepping up to the mantel of Captain America cause A. It keeps that theme of hope living on and B. The combat would be fun.
    2. Involve the Inhuman royal family. It confused me as to how when Earth is full of Terrigen mist and Inhumans being abused and mistreated, that Blackbolt and co. never try and step in. You can introduce them in a fight against them but they learn to trust them.
    3. Have the Kree be the true villains. It bugged me how there was all this mystery of what the thing in the bay was, revealing it to be a Kree Sentry and then not do anything with it. Don’t forget, Terrigen was partly the creation of the Kree. It also bugged me how Kamala never meets her idol Carol. So here’s my change. Carol is on the hellicarrier on A-day and goes missing. She “dies” just like Cap. Then we fast forward to reveal that not only is Carol alive, she has become the Kree’s weapon. Modok who was working with them, tells the Avengers this, using the “bigger evil” excuse. The Avengers work together to defeat Carol and the Kree and we get a moment where they all try to snap Carol out of it. Maybe Ronan can do a “WE ARE YOUR CREATORS, YOU BELONG TO THE KREE” shpick to Kamala.
    Admittedly, I am not in any way qualified or better than the actual creators in any way. This is just my two cents.

    I often disagree with you about various things for movies (including some of your proposed changes), but I always appreciate your passion and interest. I'm so glad that - this time - our thoughts/feelings about this game align. This story really touched me, and I really fell in love with the game during that A-Day opening, playing as Kamala Khan and meeting the Avengers, with some of the moments we experienced later on really solidifying my love of the story and the characters they wrote. There are some gameplay issues (heroes don't feel quite as powerful as they should, for one), but some of the set pieces and moments are fantastic. My biggest problem with the story is that it feels like Kamala gets sidelined a bit as the last few Avengers become playable characters, though that's just because they start focusing a little more on those Avengers even though it had - until then - really felt like it was her game, featuring the Avengers, if you get what I mean.

As a Marvel fan it’s epic and amazing, the original story completely comic inspired is amazing, the characters lose everything, disband and go through dramatic changes and cast are perfect especially Nolan North as Tony Stark. MODOK getting the AAA treatment he deserves was great and the set pieces are epic, flying into space as Iron Man, fighting a giant Kree Sentry. I laughed a lot at the banter between the team. The gameplay is fun and different for each character, Iron Man is my main. Still the Canto Bight stuff wasn’t my favorite part, but it made TLJ a lot better, and i know is nit the perfect SW experience, lime this Avengers game, but it goes to show how a piece of media, flawed is it may be, at the right time can take a whole new meaning when seen at the right moment or context

    I actually have to say I completely agree with this and was starting feel like I was the only one loving the cheesiness of the game.
    There’s a couple story beats I didn’t like (feel like the writers don’t *fully* get Iron Man beyond MCU, Tony’s ‘first love’ was FAR from Pepper or himself, it’s his mother ffs. Even the movies get that right.) but like you said the emotional core of the game was really solid! I loved Kamala (for the first time since she first appeared in comics to be honest), and especially her relationship with Bruce which is very much the focus of it.

Hearing about how the various avengers play differently did get me to pick up warframe again. that's a free to play games as service thats been around longer than destiny, has just the best community, and has a ton of frames which each play uniquely.

      This game is a completely different game than the Lego Marvel games so that isn't a fair comparison at all. The Lego games pride themselves on having large character rosters that no other game has at least that I know of, and if they do it's because they had multiple updates. Avengers is a live service game so they'll add new villains to fight and heroes to play in the future.

      Warframe is good, much better than this game imo, although the whole Marvel Avengers branding slathered all over it means at least some folks will dedicate themselves to it while never giving a different game a chance.
      Just go play Warframe if you like games like this but want to see it done well, it's free and on PC, Xbox, Playstation, *and* the Switch. It has been out for years by now so has tons of content, there's PvP, the main gameplay is actually fun and can be played co-op or solo, there isn't any content that is absolutely guarded by a paywall (ie everything can be acquired for free if you know how to go about it), etc. If for whatever reason you don't like it, stop playing. No money spent, just a little time invested to download/install and try it out.
      I know this reads like an ad, but I dedicated 4 years of my life to Warframe starting within the first month it came to the Xbox, and while I did end up getting burned out on it, I'll never say that I didn't have fun or that it wasn't worth it. When I finally made the decision to stop playing, it felt easy since I'd only ever invested my time and never my money. It never felt like that was asked of me or was required in any way.
      Also, because I hadn't booted it up and logged in for a year or two, I was fully expecting for my account to be wiped for inactivity. Turns out all of my stuff is still there just as I left it, which does feel really nice in case I'd ever feel like getting back into it again at any point in the future without having to start from scratch.

      @@jupiterapollo4985 My original comment was in response to Mysterio explaining his master plan and while it's silly, I think it was refreshing after all the seriousness that happened in the MCU. The scene made me remember old comic book stories where villains explain their plan to the audience. Don't get me wrong, I grew up with Ultimate spider man and the like. But I do also enjoy the old comics from the 60s when stories were simple and didn't always make you question society. Today's comics try to be serious but it's actually more cringey and more satire because of it's forced political BS and pandering. I'm also tired of stories where there has to be a scientific explanation for everything to the point where it just doesn't make sense anymore. Sometimes simple is just better.

    This just feels like more of the same cut n’ run game design that led to Destiny 2, Anthem, and Fallout 76. Stories are great! But creating a product that respects your consumers, to me, is much more important.

      Live service games are fine if they deliver enough content at launch which this game did. The game didn't need anymore than 6 heroes at launch if you expected more than you have unrealistic expectations for video games, and you must rarely be pleased. As far as only having three comic book villains go. This was the story they wanted to create for the launch of the game and that story only included three villains. Marvel movies are the exact same way. It's one thing if they were charging for extra villains, but they aren't. We're gonna get more villains and they're gonna have their own story. Also I don't know about you, but I bought the game literally right after that huge patch, and I've only had one bug which wasn't even that game breaking. The microtransactions are all cosmetic and all the post launch content is free so I don't really see the problem there.

    I didn’t really get many glitches while playing the game besides when facing Abomination anytime besides in the story the other characters would disappear into the floor. My major problem is that the story is short and the game is repetitive within its small missions. I don’t feel like we actually had to work to get Thor cuz he kinda just pops up at the end with no real reason and the same kinda with Iron Man and Black Widow. Also leveling up your characters is extremely long and you have to repeat missions over and over. I actually liked the gameplay itself and the dialogue was fine plus while the suits could be better it isn’t bad enough to take away from the game. I’d give the game a 6 out of 10 maybe cuz I’m also annoyed with the fact I preordered it and didn’t get any of the bonuses it said I would and I had to get a refund

    People need to stop comparing this game to the MCU Avengers and movies. This is not supposed to be a movie game, this is its own entity. There’s more to Marvel than the MCU. Insomniac’s Spider-Man for PS4 wasn’t compared to the movies. Why is this one being held to that standard?

Just reached 70 hours and I'm ready to put it down until the first dlc comes out. Can't really recommend it as a whole, but the campaign was really cool. Very standard MCU story telling, except that they needed to polish and rewrite some of those quips and jokes, as they rarely work. I could totally see it as Avengers 5 movie (after some major changes of course given the current history of MCU) with the focus on Kamala, who I knew nothing about and she's easily the most fun and interesting character personality wise, the most relatable one as a fan of the avengers, rather than the militant, combat ready type of personalities all the other avengers have after years of experience. But hey, if you see it like 50% off grab a copy.
