Do you think our attention spans are getting shorter?

Thank you Karen. We have all stopped watching shorts in our house for the attention span problems, both adults and children.

Yes, I had to also. I saw a big difference just in myself after making the change.

I like the shorts when used as an ad for a longer video because sometimes my feed doesn't show the long videos, but the shorts seem to always be there and then i can click to the long one.

I just ran into your channel accidentally and LOVE that you have a moral compass, something that seems to be lacking. I also love your suggestions and the reason behind your suggestions. More, please!!!

You've really inspired me in this area Karen! I enjoy reading but you've inspired me to start mixing in some classics. I'm finishing up Pride & Prejudice and thinking about what to read next! I can absolutely see how short form content has totally ruined our attention spans (and IQ). Im a moody reader too...i have multiple books going at once to grab depending on what i feel like.
I read The Great Gatsby & TKA Mockingbird in school but everything is different and you're an adult.

That is true, we are different people as an adult so you’ve encouraged me to give Gatsby another try!

I just recently read "To Kill a Mockingbird" for the first time; it was just a book sitting on my shelf for years, but I really ended up liking it. I thought "1984" was SO boring, although I definitely get the point to it. (I loved "Animal Farm," though, and had my son read it this year.) Right now I'm reading "Anna Karenina" for the first time...Wow. The author obviously was a powerful observer of human nature! "The Little Princess" is a book I loved as a teenage girl; I had a bungalow bedroom and pretended I was Sara. I'm reading the Anne series aloud to the family...I read them all so often as a girl that I could find any sentence in the book at any time. Thanks for a walk down memory lane, and for your continual book recommendations! They are very helpful.

Great book choices! Your selections are like old friends, and you are right - those shorts are not good for our attention spans. Interesting video:)

Yes, as a society, the attention spans are getting shorter. This is sad and troubling. I really appreciate your choice to stop some of the content you were producing as a way to not add to the problem. I respect your decision

Thanks for asking this! I hadn't heard of it, either...I do admit, though, that I definitely and by choice live under a rock! I never pay a lick of attention to the news...but then occasionally I miss something I do wish I had known. ;-)

I have to say, The Great Gatsby is my least favorite book ever. It's a poorly constructed storyline. The characters are all terrible people. There is not one redeeming quality in the entire story. The writing style is average. I have no idea why this book is still constantly recommended. It's really bad. I read it in high school and didn't like it. I read it as an adult and I like it even less.
