- becomes leader of the Vespers through a 94,7 mission success rate "ugh, i have to organize operations now?" - immediatly relegates all comanding duties to his number 2 because he doesn't give a shit - nobody has the authority to overrule the decision - maintains reputation as the single greatest pilot operating on Rubicon until some freak with plot armor defeats him - turns out he wasn't even augmented To cap it off he even shits on Snail while fighting you (as a treat) what a lad
He's probably my favourite pilot tbh. He's doing it for the same reason we are: piloting ACs is just so much fun. If the mission was just fighting him I think I'd agree with him, I would love to keep fighting like this forever
It makes him muting Snail all the more hilarious. He hangs up on him like we would that one annoying teammate in online voice chats just so we can focus on the game.
I initially didn't think much of Freud as a character. He sort of struck me as a one-note bad guy who fits the whole "hardcore warrior at the top of his game who seeks a worthy opponent above all else" trope. The more I think about him, though, the more I wonder if he serves as a sort of dark reflection of what 621 might have become had they followed a similar path in life as a mercenary. Freud is kind of similar to Snail in that he shows a casual disregard for life, killing Chatty and referring to the act as "getting this trash out of the way". But while Snail dehumanizes people out of sheer arrogance and contempt, Freud merely sees Chatty as an obstacle to fighting Raven... which he'd evidently been looking forward to for quite a while. As a silent protagonist, 621 doesn't leave us with too many clues regarding what they are thinking or feeling throughout the events of the story, but I think it's a little telling when Freud tells them they fight "like a hound on the hunt" as if there's a sort of wild, animalistic nature to how 621 fights. It's something Freud seems to admire or find intriguing. Possibly because it reminds him of himself... a rabid beast of a warrior who only truly feels alive in the heat of battle. Perhaps the most tragic thing about Freud as a character is that fighting has been his life for so long, that it's all he cares about... to the point where he's completely empty inside. He doesn't care about others, he doesn't care about beliefs or ideals. He only cares about fighting. Saddest and most telling of all, however, is that no matter how his fight with 621 ends... he's left unsatisfied. Either he wins and gets angry at 621 for dying, demanding that they get back up and keep fighting, or he ends up begging his failing machine to carry on and keep fighting, because he hasn't had enough yet... and because it will never be enough. That emptiness he feels inside will never be filled. Anyway, that's my pretentious, Patrick Bateman-tier summary of Freud's whole character. Hope you enjoyed. :P HEY, PAUL!
Dude this is DEEP! Great analysis. I never considered the idea of Freud being a dark reflection of us: someone who cares for nothing except battle and is never satisfied.
@@AlterFoxEast I don't know if his Arena bio meant he's not an augmented human, since he's the commander of Arquebes' augmented human squad. But he's at the very least not crazy about augments like Snail is

later in around mid-game AC boss can usr repair kit 3 times like player does they will heal themself when ap drop around 50% but if you can do damage before they heal they will just die.
He’s basically the exact opposite of Michigan. That’s kinda the point. BALAM and Arquebus are polar opposites. Michigan has all the backstory, war veteran, Jupiter wars, loves his squad, shows up the whole game, he’s basically the real No. 1 this time. But the No. 1 arquebus mech is the exact opposite. He’s just some guy, shows up once, fights like hell then dies. He’s basically the anti Michigan, and that why I love it. Makes the world feel big that they one badass pilot just shows up, then leaves. You never saw him before and in a lot of endings, you’d never actually fight him, so he could still be around. I like the idea that this world is so big that there are these top tier pilots out there that you’ll just never see.

Snail: "You can ignore the mutt."
Freud: "You're right."
Cuts comms with Snail.
I instantly forgive him for killing Chatty.
Snail's just a mutt in Freud's eyes. He doesn't care for the mission, only strong opponents matter.
1:20 lol both of you pulse shielding at the same time was fun to look at
This has to be one of the coolest characters after rusty.
Lmfao I loved okay snail I got you. Click let's continue.
Thank you.

Great fight, this boss is a skilled pilot
And a regular human without augmentations as well. He's just good

I killed him before he could use his repair kit
His voice is too sexy
He's the voice actor of aomine from Kuroko no Basuke, he's really good
Thank you.
/thank you for posting this, I missed like half his dialogue bc i killed him in 30 seconds lmao
No problem homie lol relatable

If you dont one shot him, this becomes one of the best fights in tha game!!!
And the fact that he shits on snail is so epic
compared him with no.1 rank in previous game i think freud is the worst no backstory or anything just come to you and quckly die
that's why he's great, just some random guy who got 1st rank through sheer skill, doesn't even have any aug, dude's just a regular guy lol.
