Ajahn Chah was a Thai Buddhist monk. He was an influential teacher of the Buddhadhamma and a founder of two major monasteries in the Thai Forest Tradition. He was reputed to be an Arahant.

I was sat meditating in the woods of Oxfordshire UK. I take a lunch and a flask of tea each time.. I enjoy chilli's and on this day had several in my bag.
After my meditation i began to eat some food. I noticed the salad was hotter than usual. The sensation of the chilli increased in my mouth and spread to my lips. It was very hot indeed. At one point I thought the heat may become so intense I would feel unwell.
I sat still and closed my eyes. I observed the sensation and the feelings and thoughts at that time. Gradually over 10 minutes or so the heat began to reduce.
Eventually it was gone and the mouth just tingled.
That moment was profound. Everything made sense. The nature of Dharma.
Listening to this reading of venerable Ajahn Cha confirmed my experience.
