The things I struggle with the most when decorating my home is getting high quality items and the expensive look i want in my home for an affordable price. I also struggle with meshing my 15 million ideas I have in my head and on Pinterest with real life and making a cohesive room.

You could try grabbing a paper and pencil crayons, or get an app (we use Paper for iPad), and draw out the space! I recommend drawing 1 wall at a time, like you’re facing the wall, rather than a floor plan. It really helps with visualization. If you are unsure of placement, I recommend doing a to-scale drawing of your floor plan or wall (depends on what you are struggling placing), and then cutting out to-scale paper drawings of your things. You can move them around as much as you want on paper, swap them out for other ideas, and then try it in real life. I designed the bedrooms in my house using the first method, and designed the seating and table arrangements for my wedding using the second method. Both are so helpful for getting ideas off Pinterest or out of your own mind and make them feel more tangible. And no, you don’t have to be an artist to make this work! Simple, child-like drawings are all that’s necessary to give you an idea and visualization of your space and how to use it! I hope that helps in some way!

Awesome video! Helpful tip, take photos of spaces/shelves that you want to decorate, so that while in the store, you can narrow things down a bit. This is especially helpful for those on a budget.
One thing I struggle with is making my apartment look masculine while also feeling inviting without there being hairy lights and flowers everywhere.

Most difficult challenge - There's many! What do you put over a bed?
When you move to a new place, what do you do with art pieces that you framed for the old place but now don't have a place/ don't go with the new place?
In our old place we had a gallery wall of mixed family pictures - but now those are in a box in the basement bc they don't have a home. If our basement was done, I'd make a family wall. I also am seeking more minimal clean larger scale art, and having a ton of random frames doesn't fit our house now.
But when you like home decor, how often do you switch out your styling pieces? You can't just put shelves up everywhere to make a styling moment - there has to be neg space to breathe. When do you switch things out - other than holiday pieces?

Great video! I could definitely use more bookshelf /house accessorizing ideas. Would love to see a "Good, but better" video! Where you accessorize one way, but then show a even better way. My taste is very similar to yours and sometimes I have a hard time bringing in contrast because I like light and neutral. I would never have thought to put a little black teapot on the shelf because I would have thought it didn't look as good as tone-on-tone.
When the word "perfect" popped up on your video I realized I really could use some professional decorator ideas! I think I do pretty well for an amateur but maybe not thinking outside the box as much as I could.

Great video! I struggle with just having too much stuff and can't decide what (or how much) to use. I have collected hand-blown glass for years, I have inherited my Grandfather's paintings, and I used to work in a custom photo lab and have tons of stuff from that. I don't want to have to store what I don't use, but I know if I do, that allows me to change it up whenever I want. I'm just getting tired of having too much and because of that I don't feel like going out and buying new stuff...

A struggle we have is knowing how to incorporate color into the space. We go for neutrals, but we’d like to add more color to make it feel more warm, interesting and exciting. We don’t want to commit to a color unless we know we’ll love it for a longer period of time! Or maybe we could incorporate it in places where it could be easily changed (blankets for example - but then we’d feel like we need several different sets of matching decor).
Your help in choosing and incorporating color would be very appreciated!

I struggle with lighting...after 2 years in my home I still haven’t found the “right” chandelier for my dining room and the right bathroom vanity. I also struggle with trying to match my darker hardwood floor with my furniture. I like light colored wood pieces but feel like it contrasts too much but the darker wood pieces don’t show up as well. And finally I struggle with what look I ultimately want in my home. I love so many different styles but can’t seem to settle on just one so my home looks like a bunch of mismatched pieces.

It’s been a month since we moved in and my bathroom is still not the way I want it, it is very bare. The finishing touch to our bedroom was a new comforter and a gallery wall of our wedding. My "greatest challenge" is a bit unusual. I'm generally a confident decorator, but I've take on decorating my son's first house. He's a bachelor who has worked very very hard to pay off student loans and pull together a down payment, so I want to create a really beautiful masculine space for him. The pickle is that he lives in a remote community waaay up north, and I have to work on Pinterest to create mood boards, collaborate with the one local store, pay outrageous delivery fees, and manage the project without actually having seen it with my own eyes. The actual placement of things will happen with my son walking around the house with his laptop, and us designing together. We have learned to do everything through skype and facetime. I don't think you can necessarily help, just have a good laugh with me over the different challenges even the most confident decorator can face! :D

I'm currently finding difficulty selecting lamps for my rooms. I don't have a confident sense of the height, width, style (including shade) so it elevates the look and function of the space. I've spent a lot of time looking at design pictures, lighting websites and spending what seems like hours in lighting departments in stores. Great video as always:) I have a really long (2m) shallow shelf above the tv, like a mantle. I strugle with that all the time... except for christmas, xmas decor hide it all 😅

Very good! I'm loving your videos! Already recommended your videos to my closest friends! :) I'm Portuguese and currently living in Milan in a small rental apartment. We are looking for other as this one has been already sold. It's hard to find something nice that we can afford. The rents in Milan are completely insane and they ask a lot for houses full of old forniture and a ugly floor. I'm watching your videos to get inspired for the mission I'll have ahead! Hug! 😘

My top 2 challenges: 1. rugs! they are so expensive and I'm scared to make a decision and regret it. 2. Gallery wall! I have sooooo many pinterest ideas and I'm not sure how to commit to some prints without spending a fortune.

Hi! I just moved into a new house and have an open dining room with a built in buffet with a window above. Having the hardest time with this space.
