My takeaway from this movie is those two priests in the original sacrificed their lives protecting her and helping her daughter, but in the end, it was the patriarchy and their misogyny that was the true evil.
It made me hate Ellen Burstyn's character in this one. Did the writers not realize how terrified she was in the original to even be around her daughter? And then the one time she tried interfering with Pazuzu, she was slapped right onto the ground. Yeah... sure that was the priests' fault.
I think Adum is right that the original exorcist came out at the right time so audiences won’t be scared like they were when that movie came out.
I still think the original holds up though today. The filmmaking, the acting and the story/pacing of the film makes it a great watch still.
Exorcist believer is like 10 minutes shorter than the original but it’s so boring because nothing happens and the pacing is so slow that it feels like a 2 and a half hour movie. The only sequel that holds up to the original is part 3.
I would rather sit on a toilet bowl for two hours straight instead of sitting through this poor excuse of a movie

After I watched this movie on Peacock, I got bored and this movie was pretty wasted. I'll be forgetting this movie when I am possessed away from the brainless mind. Oh for the love of Christ, compel and forget about this movie.
