- How to Painting Mi-24 HIND Scale Helicopter Model Kit. How to make simple, realistic and easy weathering techniques on a 1/48 scale helicopter model.
In this video, I will show you how to make a Mi-24 Hind helicopter scale model as Macedonian colors, become detailed with simple and easy painting and weathering techniques.
As you can see from the video, I used many detail sets from RESKIT and also the Rivet set of Eduard to detail this model. All paints are from Hataka Red Line acrylics.

Thats cool you did a Macedonian one. In 1994, I was in the Army and we went there as part of the U.N.. I was at FYROM HQ in Skopje as a guard for the command of re region and all he civilians trying to get Macedonia up and running. One day we had an alert, and my job was as a M60 gunner on the roof of the U.N. building. We popped smoke and literally THAT helicopter you made flew past us and then hovered about 200 feet away at eye level looking directly at us on the roof. Really cool experience.

I'm not going to lie. I was confused by the rivets going down after paint, but man that worked out great
I agree that it was a risky method. but with this method, the rivets are much better and obvious. Because the are no paint layers over them.

Thanks, i hope it helps, but note: I did opposite of the Eduard rivet decal instruction. You may want to go normal way😉👍

Decal quality is same as Eduard decal quality, i mean its nice, and it works with Micro sol-set. Difficulty is you need to cut each rivet section right the edge of related area or panel. That is time consuming.

Lights are normal clear plastic piecee. I painted them with clear red. Exhaust cover is made from plastic sheet then painted red and weathered.

Yes not cheap, but it must for that kind of model kit. Original model kit has no rivet. great shortcoming.

Doğru söylüyorsunuz. Zaten dekal manueli de aynı şekilde sizin dediğiniz yapılması gerektiğini tarif ediyor, ama benim yapmış olduğum boyama eskitme işlemleri klasik yöntemler ile değil. Gördüğünüz gibi boya bittikten sonra nerdeyse modeli tekrar fırça ile boyuyorum, zımparalıyorum, maskeliyorum vesaire. Bu benim kendi yöntemlerime, altta yatan rivet dekaller dayanamazsı diye tahmin ettiğim için bu şekilde yaptım. Bilemiyorum belkide dayanırdı ama riske atmadım.

Thank you. I used same colors, direct from them bottle or more diluted, depending on area. Masking material is Tack-it.

Boya-boya yüzeyleri yapıştırırken patex herhangi bir sorun yaratıyor mu yoksa boya-boya olmasına rağmen iyi iş görüyor mu?
Bir de perçinli yüzeylere kendi renginde dry brush yapmışsınız. Bu nasıl bir efekt oluşturmuş anlayamadım. Dry brush yaparken farklı renk ile eskitmeyi biliyorum fakat aynı renk olayını çözemedim.

Boya üzerine patex konusu çok belirsiz.Bazen hiç etkilemiyor, ama bazende primer boyaya kadar söküyor. Çıkartırken çok hassas davranıyorum.
Perçinler konusu: normalde Eduard ın gösterdiği tarif; önce perçin dekali yapılıp üzerine boya atılacak. Ama ben tersine önce boyadım sonra perçin yaptım dolayısıyla boya üzerine perçinler çok siyah kaldı, bende kendi renkleri ile siyah görüntüyü kırdım.
What did you do to the front glass? How is it yellow, just a yellow transparent paint or..?
Yes i airbrushed it with Tamiya Clear yellow and Tamiya X-22 mixture.

Where do you buy the airfield base? Does it come in 1/72?
The plates are from ICM models, it is 48 scale, but i am not sure they have 72 scale ground plates.

I used copper wire, attached with CA glue. Then painted.

Its Eduard’s rivet decals. They sent me directly after production. Search at Eduard website as Mi-24 Positive Rivets.

man, weathering is hard. I started to learn it. first i paint the whole thing with water based gloss varnish, then i paint the panel lines, screws, etc with oil based silky black, wait a bit until it dries but not fully, then use a Qtip soaked in paint solvent to gently was the black paint off, leaving the lines black and giving it a wind blown oily finish. now i need to learn the part you did at 4:40-7:30
Actually it is only painting with brush, i use a real reference photo, and i paint what i see. Just, i use more diluted paint.
