Nice video, thanks. The Warm Audio DI box made a sonically pleasing difference. I have a 192 as well, and been thinking about the WA active for a Mexi Strat - similar to your video setup. In any event, your demo shows the impact of a direct box. And you got me thinking (which happens occasionally)... I wondered if and how the 192’s instrument DI differed from XMAX mic pres on the 192; p.4 of the 192 user manual indicates they are separate & dealt with differently, did not go into how nor why. Presuming same DSP is going on in both channels, that may account for some of the difference we are hearing. Irrespective, your vid shows me either: 1. the shortfalls of the 192 DI, or 2. how nice the mic pres are compared to the pres used for the DI, or 3. the impact of the WA, or 4. a combo of 2 & 3. Make sense? Request: Have you thought to do the same exact A/B comparison, but with an acoustic piezo pick-up? Again, nice job.

The Warm box during the crunch test really jumped out at me. The lick between rhythm playing was super clean. I'd roll off the top a bit more personally, but starting with that fidelity is better than never having it.

is the switch on the unit up towards the "lift" or down towards the "ground" off/not engaged.
Same with the switch down towards the "phase" or up towards the 0. Im not understanding what is on/off for both of these switchable parameters..

Thanks for the video.Really nice set up,and detail! The Warm box sure makes it sound for want of a better word.Less thin.I have a sansamp psa-1 going line out into an Audient ID 14 using both mic inputs.Would it make a big difference to my sound do you think?

Preface, just a home recording hobbyist here trying to learn, so my comments may be ill informed from lack of experience. Both sounded good to me (listened through Sennheiser HD 280 Pro headphones through a Focusrite Saffire Pro 40). The Warm Audio DI most definitely added color that sounded really good - well - warmer - more mid-lows or overall balance giving more depth. ? But the direct didn't sound bad, albeit lacking the Warm DI depth. (Is depth the right word?) In fact, I thought the direct crunch would sit in a mix better. So I thought the Warm DI is a great tool but in the end, does it all depend on what the song and mix need for that track? Good stuff! Let's hear bass next through that bad boy!

thanks for watching. yes, what matters most in my view is how it sounds in a particular mix. for example you may want a nasty, garage sale sounding guitar on one track and a clean "country pickin" type tone on another. a DI box like this is a tool to use when it fits. Bass example coming soon.

The warm audio makes it sound like you’ve just put brand new stings on the guitar, the other sounds like two year old strings. Didn’t expect to hear much of a difference, even on my iPhone it’s night and day!
