Montagueduck48 WMSR runs a single train per day, save for the few "dinner" trains it does every once and awhile. Lately, some of the locals in the area, namely the ones near the service yard, have been complaining about 734's "emissions". And as such, WMSR responded with having 501 and 502 added in to the trains so that on the return trip, 734 doesn't emit as much "emissions" There's also speculation that 734 is extremely past due on a rebuild and as such, she's become too weak to pull the trains herself and needs help from 501 & 502. Thankfully they have been in talks about doing a major overhaul in the past few years. Who knows, maybe 501 and 502 are just there to provide Head-End Power.
From what I've heard 734 will go out of service for overhaul sometime in 2015, luckily 1309 will be coming over, but it will of course be a while till its working again. :|
Yes, it does sound like 611 whistle that's because 734 wore a Hancock just like the 611 in 2013
734's whistle sounds like 611's whistle!
It does. I have rode behind that engine at Strasburg in September 5th 2021.
Who knows when 734 will be back on the tracks again.
Awesome I have to go check that out!
Thanks Man!
Anytime I just went up there not to long ago got the diesel nice stuff!
I can see when I go back up there
?
Great!!!
Thanks!
At 17:05 is that spot easy to access?
Yes, just requires some walking from the lot
@@Mike77E9 maybe like a 10/15 min walk or less than that?
What's the point of turning the steam locomotive on the turntable if it's not even going to pull the train back to the starting terminal?
Probably so it can get ready for the next trip.

They follow the train back as light power, engine only.
