the people who call this performance “cringe” will never understand the beauty of lana del rey. the lyrics, the pure emotion and pleading in her voice is all so beautiful!!
@@sakurasfish2115 i agree the constant trying to sound different from the real song shes definitely improved (still love the one for the money part tho)
@@cyberwriter21 if you’ve listened to her most recent lives, it’s hard for her to reach higher notes prob because she smokes a lot n that really messes w your vocal chords in the long run. I’ve noticed her voice, while it improved a lot in the studio versions, got a lot like weaker/quieter in her lives. It’s prob just there to support her vocals and when she doesn’t sing. I miss watching her lives when she’d actually sing all the lyrics even if she messed em up haha
What do you mean? Authentic how, when she lies a lot? Also, she sounds like many singers from the retro era, and intentionally imitates Hope from Mazzy Star a lot.
Fr I don’t think she was necessarily glamorising it but presenting it how it was, how she felt and showing it in a point of view that she saw. You can see clearly in ultraviolence how “he hit me and it felt like a kiss”. She wasn’t glamorising anything, just singing her life. People just shit on her because she’s a woman most the time. Many men sing about doing the abuse and they get praised.
This is my favorite version of “Million Dollar Man.” You can hear so much emotion in her voice, and I love the “I know I like you and I love” and “For the very last time, I’m fine, and I’m ready to go!” additions. 😭🤧💗
"For the last time, I'm fine, and I'm ready to go" has such an insane amount of impact for me. It's such a gorgeous line that evokes amazing emotion and visuals. She's truly a genius.
it’s chaotic, flawed, and messy. and so…. so beautifully captivating. passionate. draws me in and keeps me wondering what’s next. all at once. - I understand why this performance is criticized. at the same time, I personally truly believe that a performance like this is engaging and captivating. it feels raw and unfiltered as the passion isn’t trickled down through making it more digestible to the masses. I don’t vibe with a lot of her deliveries here, but god damn she has an impressive stage presence and can take you to another place through her lyricism/storytelling
My daughter's favourite singer. She showed me this performance. Since then i cannot and will not stop listening. She's our time's most talented artist. It's crazy it's very much oh my god. I hope she'll come to Sziget again. May Lana and her music live forever and ever!
this is the lana i dont see anymore. her performances were on the peak. now they are good but idk feels lazy. like will she be willing to sing MDM this way today? i dont think so. but hey NFR is amazing.
Yeah, she’s always been more of a writer than a performer, you know? Like I think she enjoys the part of her job that’s in the studio and in her notebooks more than the part that’s on stage
NFR is her best album since BTD in my eyes, but so far, none of the NFR tour videos I've seen have impressed as much as those old videos. Yeah, it's almost like twenty years have passed since then. ^^; She relies too much on the crowd, for example. Come on, Lana, you're still young.
my dad watched this with me and called her "pure talent." and said "nobody will ever be able to recreate what she has, but they'll try to emulate it for decades, at least."
