I think part of the problem with industry plants right now is that a whole swath of genuine, promising rappers got killed, locked up, or cancelled in the past maybe 10 years. Off the top of my head there was Mac Miller, Xxxtentacion, Lil Peep, Juice Wrld, Pop Smoke and too many other Chicago drill rappers to name, YNW Melly, NBA Youngboy (he’s free but afraid of violating probation), Bobby Shmurda (got locked up in his prime), and Pooh Shiesty. 6ix9ine and DaBaby were cancelled. Once 6ix9ine was cancelled, Trippie Redd had to dial it back. DaBaby still makes hits but the industry doesn’t promote him. All these dead and incarcerated rappers leave a void that gets filled with industry plants. A similar environment existed in the late 90s after 2Pac and Biggie got killed. With some of the recent allegations going around about the price to cozy up maybe one doesn’t want to “make it.” In this day when anyone with a phone or digital camera plus some sound gear, a laptop and a little editing skill one might be able to build up a following as an Indy. Didn’t Bieber start with little YT videos? And Reb Black got buzz. Too bad the industry has a grip on distribution platforms. Awards shows likely are now for the elite and insiders by the elite and insiders and at the behest of the “industry.”
Here’s the harsh truth: To be successful in today’s industry, you do not need to please your fans. You need to please the industry. If you’re a chosen one, the industry will generate the artificial media attention one requires to be famous. We call these people industry plants. To Doja Cat, all of this is worth it because she’s “putting her foot to the pedal”. However, there’s one thing she overlooked: The ride she’s on has no brake pedals. The only way to stop is by crashing. Ask Britney and the countless other “it girls” that preceded her.
When will it stop? First, “authentic” is a matter of definition in this age of backing tracks, a-tune and miming (lip sync).* Is the music traceable to to real people? Still likely yes and so “authentic.” * Nothing wrong with this if one is upfront and the audience is there for the dance moves, costumes and visuals. But no so if selling the artist can sing and/or play an instrument. But soon performing artists may need to be nothing more than animatronics or holograms (“live shows”) and CGI (videos) synched to AI generated sounds and voices. The only real people will be those “hip” or “pretty people” who sold their likeness and image needed for in person meet and greets (no doubt the VIP tix package will be $1,000s or less if via “zoom” with an AI CGI).

Since xxxtentacion, juice wrld, pop smoke, lil peep and king von died the music industry turned into trash. Miss the legends.
I'm just tired of greed being the status quo
Where's the cap?!💯
love the content
Why is this sounding so much like offset ol gurl 😢😢😂😂. This is her literally
i got a like and comment from ice spice on my song called bame, it was on my soundcloud page, i wondered if it meant that i would be the next industry plant, and i wanted to do it but then i was hurting and felt depressed, so i thought i was too lazy, when really it was all just the constant fatigue i felt and feel all the time,
Doja Cat is beyond talented. You tried it.
Her album Scarlet sold 6k pure albums but her streaming is so high
Prolly more plants than nons
Lil nas grinded though
On dck
grinded on meat
💀💀💀
Nas buckbroke. Just as close to being an industry plant for me.
Bullshit
When are y'all gonna start making videos about the fans are also the problem because they don't consume actual substance but STAAAYYYS complaining about it.. stop listening to Ice Spice and Bobbi and listen to actual podcasters and actual rappers if y'all feel so deeply about it. The industry only does what they see will sell, so then why invest in a Noname or Rhapsody because YALL DONT SUPPORT THEM but ice spice gets maadd views. The fans don't want to make the necessary sacrifices to make shit better
Chance kinda was a industry plant tho……
How? Acid rap is a cult blassik
Yeah nah acid rap is legit
how? did you even read up on his story…?
He was underground for a minute before he got signed. You just didn’t know him
His dad was a big time person in chicago. They had ties to the emmanuel family. Hes a plant for sure
bro does not know what an industry plant is 💀💀💀
Næh i don’t care we’re the artist came from or who have boosted them. Do I like a song then I like that song and that’s it.
In the 80’s we had crack cocaine in the Black communities. Now in the 2000’s we got gangster rap/ hip hop music! You figure it out!
How you gonna do MC Hammer like that bro lol 🤣💀
"Authenticity" 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
All this industry plant bs will stop when the public wakes up and refuses to accept mediocrity!!!
I love how lil nas X is in the Thumbnail
Yea cuz he’s the biggest one of them all.
@@kendall6515 He’s not
Why is Doja in the thumbnail? 😂
They did the same thing to 80s rock and 70s disco
Great analysis and narration/style mate!
Doja Cat not a plant
People just need to accept that its quicker to blow up in 2023 😂
Hip hop was never made to last
Hip hop had run its course!! I am sick and tired of hip hop!!
in the 2000s american music dominated the charts everywhere in the world . here in latinamerica the top songs where mostly fromthe USA and few latinamerican artist nnow you to find a song written by an american you should get atleast to the 50th place..
That “journey” wether hard gained or given on a silver platter none the less lead to a cross road occupied by a being with horns and a “pitch fork”!💯
They made a pact! Bottom line! Without their submission to the beast there is no fame and fortune💯
Please do recall the temptation of Christ..
Lil Nas X is not a plant...
Agreed. He’s an amazing artist
Industry plants been around since the 40s
Commercialisation killed real music….🧐
Ice spice got cake
This is why music is trash these days coz it's not from the ground up it's not real
Like Tula just came on the scene and she already got a Grammy???? How is that??? Cause of one hit song? Some artists have been around forever like Miley Cirus and she just got a Grammy!!! Strange right?
SNITCH 9, lil mabu, blueface Chrusran and Jaiyden all seem to be olants‼️
Shoutout to new artist that actually grinded....denzel curry...etc
That's what them record labels get for harming the culture let em all burn
Nobody has lasting power in the last almost 20 years
I have plenty artists I listen to that have been putting out consistent quality music over 10+ years and millions of one hit wonders after the other because of what these labels push
Imagine selling out and failing and you have a face covered in tattoos LMAO and I thought neck tattoos were bad😂
With some of the recent allegations going around about the price to cozy up maybe one doesn’t want to “make it.”
In this day when anyone with a phone or digital camera plus some sound gear, a laptop and a little editing skill one might be able to build up a following as an Indy. Didn’t Bieber start with little YT videos? And Reb Black got buzz. Too bad the industry has a grip on distribution platforms. Awards shows likely are now for the elite and insiders by the elite and insiders and at the behest of the “industry.”
This is not what and industry plant means
8:25
they just lost ice spice too, people finally realised how bad she is.
Their not destroying it ppl that support it and by into it are. Wouldn’t be a surge if it wasn’t working.
I will save the music industry
Here’s the harsh truth: To be successful in today’s industry, you do not need to please your fans. You need to please the industry. If you’re a chosen one, the industry will generate the artificial media attention one requires to be famous. We call these people industry plants. To Doja Cat, all of this is worth it because she’s “putting her foot to the pedal”. However, there’s one thing she overlooked: The ride she’s on has no brake pedals. The only way to stop is by crashing. Ask Britney and the countless other “it girls” that preceded her.
Ice spice winning awards in commercials but only have one album that did nothing
How about the German cooking 20 yo who recently moved outta her parents but had an entire stocked kitchen
Real hip hop is done
this shit crazy yes i agree. But ice spice can really get it
Great vid again bro, can’t stand plants if u can’t get there by ur own talent u shouldn’t be there
When will it stop?
Ice spice didn’t work hard…came on
Nice
Some Hiphop fans are just cry babies tbh
back then they would make better music to make a point
You sounding like a industry plant 😂😂😂 sike naw fam
