In 1996 I was tripping acid and I heard A Tear for Eddie at a friends house and I said "whoever this is I will buy there CD tomorrow " I bought chocolate and cheese the next day and I've been a fan ever since.
Mine was push the little daises and big Jim... But it was the stallion part 3 that snagged me. Even got the honor of catching the stallion pt 3 live!!!!
Haha, I remember the 1st time I ever heard of Ween was back in 2004 or something like that. They were playing at the will rogers theater down the street from my high school in OKC. Real small crowd, and some lady fed me mushrooms right at the entrance when I was going in. I’ll never forget it, one of the best shows I’ve ever been to, I don’t know how many times I’ve seen them since. 🤎)))))))
I remember buying pure guava just because the cover always caught my eye. Took a chance on it and was in love from the first listen! Seen them live several times and they are one of the best bands ever. Matter of Fact not Opinion.
Got to see this live a week and a half ago. I love how much they are playing for either the first time or the first time in decades (Vallejo in Oakland, anyone?!?). Hail Boognish.
I have my fair share of hillbillys in my family, in fact; they make the entirety of my mom's side. I remember The Weavers and the Bluegrass Country Folk performing at every single event and I always thought it was creepy. Ween has successfully taught me to appreciate many styles of music by taking all of the dark seriousness out of it and simply showing them for the awesome jams they are. I love the rustic fiddle on this song and I have found a new found appreciation for an awesome sound.
The original cassette where this song was recorded has the date of May 8th 1993, its name was "creme de menthe". There's a picture of this around there on the Internet. Not sure if I'm allowed to link an image from another site
I always ending up liking the bands whose throw away b-sides are much better than anything popular right now,Ween is probably the best example of this.
There are way too many unreleased Ween songs. They can’t all fit on one album unless they made it like a Beatles Anthology with 10 different parts. It’s possible that they even forgot about this one in reality.
trent reznor of all people turned me on to ween. in a old interview about his top 10 favorite music videos of all time, Freedom of 76 was up there, i forget what place. i checked them out and turned brown.
@panzercat39 Maybe they were trying to avoid putting known b sides on Shinola. I agree this is one of my favorite Ween songs. It's amazing how even with the simple chord progression, the fiddle and the way it's sang makes it sound so reflective. I picture watching the landscape roll by you as you drive through countryside or something. There's a rustic meditative quality.
To me this song is about an addict who has hit rock bottom, from the perspective of one of their loved ones, who still has hope that they can turn it around and have a happy life. Very beautiful

I don't think their styles relate as much as the fact that they both have that uncanny genius for being poignant , SILLY and Rockin the fuk out all at the same time.

They played this in Del Mar on the second night. Pretty sweet
ween can go from really good heartfelt hoe-down country to dripping wet spot on prince and it never sounds corny or anything.
Cornbread red keeps my spirit goin.... it's seriously my therapy.
I’m a 10 year fan of this band, and so pissed I didn’t discover them earlier.
