The fact is Germany was finding it hard to manufacture tanks in large numbers because of constant bombing of their factories and manufacturing tanks cost lot of manpower and resources and technology which was very precious so they started experimenting with tank destroyers by mounting there field guns or AA guns on tank chassis which turned out cheap and effective since the AA guns had good pen at very long range and they where now mobile (SPG), if you look carefully most of their best tank guns were derived from AA or where some sort of derivatives, Blitzkrieg was a great offensive maneuver but was never meant to be defensive, At the start of the war Germany favored from it but gradually when Germany started finding it hard to defend against attack from all sides specially heavier soviet tanks they upgraded their tank destroyers to be more sophisticated and to hold ground and defend against mass attacks, and to answer your question precisely they used existing tank chassis since they did not have time or resources to develop new ones and as newer tank designs started emerging the old obsolete tanks could be put to better use by converting them into antitank role (a turreted vehicle can only carry a gun the turret design can handle and is taller however a chassis design can handle a heavier gun and has a considerably lower profile hetzer is one such example), Hope that gives you an idea about what the situation was during ww2 and why you find a lot of AT Derivatives of German ww2 MBTs.

This person is terrible. I have 7 tier 10's including the Jagdpanzer E100, I felt invincible in that thing, never lost a battle with it. You need to be a little more risky, especially when you are the last person on your team alive
this guy wastes his shot to shoot a 72 hp m103 when he would have gotten more damage done by shooting the e100 instead.... well there 20 seconds worth of damage gone...
