Man, the fact that Aemon never got to meet Daenerys absolutely breaks my heart
I know this is a late response, but I listen to the audio books pretty much every night for years now. And am just at the part where he dies and is talking about how he must help her….it hits me so hard every time, I love his character in the books and show so dang much, and long for how their meeting would have went 😢

Sad that Aemon never knew who Jon was. But maybe he knew on a subconscious level with his wisdom and all, which is why he did seem to revere him

Thoughts while watching the video:
The Dothraki have a prophecy of the Stallion that mounts the world.
Also the sphinx has the head of a woman, the wings of a bird and the body a the lion. Maybe Daenerys the woman, John the Crow and Tyrion the lion?
i do like the idea of tyrion being the lion, but he has no valyrian blood, which would serve for the "dragon" parts of the prophecy.
@@faemewmi Tyrian’s father might not be Tywin though…
@@ghostgate82 yes i was just speaking as far as we know

I like to point out that people dismiss Stannis but he is actually putting in accion everything Jon is given credit for... Who let the wildlings cross the wall?, the union of freefolk and the north is made by Stannis, as flaw as he is, Also he is uniting the North & the Iron Islands
I think his daughter is part of the prophecy, and things will go wrong when Melissandre tries to burn her.
@D D who says he is?
If you go back to Dying of the Light, there is a description of the Prince who was Promised. It's pretty early in the book, too. The sigils mentioned point at House Baratheon. FWIW, I don't think it's the same as Azor Ahai.
@@sleekoduck uh intresting, I have to look for this, thanks sleek =)
Jaime has dreams where he wields a flaming sword and fights the undead. And he is a lion. If Jon is the human head, Dany the wings, Jaime could be the lion part of the sphinx.
Fun fact: “The Sphinx is the riddle” is also a Greek phrase.
The Greeks were talking about it’s opaqueness as a symbol. It became such a joke that it was a common Athenian phrase at one point.
The way I've always interpreted the prophecy in the story is that Dany IS Azor Ahai (literally no other character fits the criteria like she does and its stated multiple times) but yes, there will be three dragon riders absolutely because there has to be.
But regardless, these dragons are in question Danys children, whom she birthed (woke) from stone herself. Perhaps Drogo/Rhaego were her Nissa Nissa sacrifice needed to give birth to HER Lightbringer(s) - weapons used to fight the darkness - dragons.
This is obviously giving Dany more importance than Jon (who is absolutely the 2nd head of the dragon) but like I said shes the one who fits the criteria best
I round that statement very curious, because Daenerys finally accepts her Targaryen side while riding drogo burning dothraki in the valley, she will not going to be a Hero or villain and more or less an antagonist
I think lightbringer is yet to be revealed, and it will be drawn in one of the 3 fires Dany must light. Mel's version of the prophecy says it happens when stars bleed and "the cold breath of darkness falls heavy" which on my mind means during the long night and a meteor shower.
Lol Jon is dead, whatever he was supposed to be, he is definitely not going to be anymore
Human face Danny, body of a Lion Tyren, and the wings of a Hawk Young Grif.
Daenerys is the wings, tyrion is the body of a lion, john is the head of a man.
İsm Ata I love this!
THIS. I think you nailed it.
Close.
I thought Jon might be the wings because he is a crow/night's watch and Daenerys might be the woman head. But I agree with Tyrion as the lion.
So....are we dismissing young Griff then? Because I'm all for it! (he's always been Blackfyre in my head) Daenerys, Tyrion, and Jon were always the three-headed dragon to me...but then season 8 destroyed all good theories.
I think that maybe there can be more than just one “Azor Ahai reborn” person. Kind of like how there are multiple versions of the Azor Ahai myth, there can be multiple incarnations of Azor Ahai reborn. Instead of there being one single savior who does everything themselves, maybe Jon and Dany are both Azor Ahai reborn, and each play a huge part in ending the Long Night, neither of which would’ve been possible without the other, if that makes sense (but who knows, maybe it’s Patchface lol). Anyway, really love the video, amazing job!!!
EXACTLY I do believe that
Would make sense in the context of the books, too - you can't win a battle alone
What about this:
Daenerys=Fire's fighter, mother of dragons
Jon=promised prince, the one who has the song asoiaf
Bran=the last hero, the one who finds the the childeren
So this is how the fandom has often rationalized it, they have known all along the answer has to be several players. And the logic is there what we have to do is identify who the original three heads of the dragon were during the original long night, and chances are one of them was Nissa Nissa. This would explain YiTish legends of a woman ending the long night (even though they have an Azor Ahai hero called Yin Tar) and even in the original lightbringer forging she was also essential in ending the Long Night as it was her strength and soul and courage that was required to forge the blade. This is why Dany is given both Azor Ahai and Nissa Nissa symbolism and why Dany got the pointy end in the show like Nissa Nissa (even though she fulfilled the Azor Ahai prophesy and hatched dragons from stone beneath a bleeding star). Because Nissa Nissa was also one of the three heads. What we have to do is sort through the monomyths and identify the three heads from the Original Long Night (and the Last Hero definitely figures into this as part of a larger collection of long night legends and ancient heroes). The answer will then present itself as to the identity of the three heads in the present timeline.
The third head is Arya, but she won't be riding any dragons. She tried to use her Needle in the Riverlands (water) and nothing happened. In the Mercy chapter, she has stabbed Raff the Sweetling, a Lannister soldier, and nothing much comes of it. Who does she love most in the world? A fire wight, who might just end up as a thrall of the Great Other.
Bran's arc is heading in a different direction.
I agree with you. My theory: Bran is the 3rd head of the dragon, but he will not ride Viserion. Instead, he will warg into Viserion, thus "becoming the dragon". In book 1, Bran dreamed of the 3 eyed raven, who told him that he can fly instead of walking, so I think the books are strongly hinting that Bran is the 3rd dragon head. This way, the 3 heads of the dragon will be equally balanced with components of fire and ice: Dany is all fire, Bran is all ice, and Jon is both. Just my theory :)
@@jennyli5360 Viserion is Aegon Blackfyre's dragon. Rhaegal might be Jon's, but I think it's more likely to end up with Cersei so we get Dance of the Dragons 2.0. Jon does not have dragon dreams. Viserion and Rhaegal will either kill each other or burn when Kings Landing blows up from wildfire.
Yes! Amanda coming out swinging y’all! 🤯 That was awesome. Cheers! 🍻
Jon is a dragon, a wolf and a crow.
As far as the book is concerned, he doesn't have much of a dragon in him. He is more part of the old gods. His wolf dreams, and etc
He is three in one - never thought of that before!
@@samirmuhammad1781haha what? He's literally half dragon, half wolf, all crow, and dead AF
For me the third head is Faegon, he is a blackfyre, not targaryen ... but he is from the blood of the dragon. Then there are Jon, Dany and Faegon. Jon is the reborn, Dany is the one who awakens the dragons and Faegon is the one who brings the Blackfyre sword. It is a theory that seems good to me.
Never heard the reasoning for this theory. I really like it 👌🏻
Nice work, Amanda! If you'll forgive the plug... coincidentally, I am actually working on a video about Azor Ahai's possible connections to the works of Tolkien right now. It's great to be able to learn from you!

@@TheDisputedLands There will be a shoutout for this video in there :)
The Sphinx was the riddle not the riddler, conformed alleras is sarella
And she/he has blood of the dragon!
But Alleras is neither talkative or annoying, unlike Sarella. More likely Alleras is Oberyn's only son, twin and opposite of Sarella. Doran's hidden dagger. No way a girl shares dorms and locker rooms with boys.
The Disputed Lands video and a Jelles Marble Runs video on the same day. Today is a good day
I think if Melisandre saw Stannis at all in her flames before taking up his cause, it may have not been him AS azor ahai, but as a key figure to finding that person (or persons) who is (are). Future telling of most kinds is really more like a scavenger hunt than a road.
In other words, as John the Baptist was a precursor to Jesus, Stannis is a fantasy precursor to Westeros' savior.
Woohoo! Amazing video. Thank you so much;)
I like the theory that the prophesy says dragon = the dragon has 3 heads = therefore the prophesied saviour is actually three individuals. That's a great theory
I love your videos, I love the faint music in the background. Thank you.
Excellent, Amanda 😃 you always have fantastic theories!
Thank you Chrissy! 😄
V Money her name is Amanda, her channel name is The Disputed Lands lol
V Money 🤣
the "misinterpretation of prophecy" is a recurring theme in the books.....so it is very possible that the prophecy is referring to multiple people, "Azor Ahai" and "the prince that was promised" might not even be the same person, also note the fact a dragon has three head, so I say we'll get three people each contributing to a piece of the puzzle in defeating night king, example: Dany's dragon forged the flaming sword, Jon uses it to stab the night king, then Arya/Aegon/Tyrion/Stannis would be a third head, and do something to "remake the world".
I genuinely let out a "SQUEE," when I saw this video! Fantastic analysis, & mind-blowing literary evidence, as always!! Can't wait to see how you explain the next theory!
I've always wondered why there was this insistence on "the dragon has three heads" because to me it seemed like House Targaryen was superimposing their own family history onto this prophecy, especially since we haven't actually heard the text of TPTWP prophecy like we have the Azor Ahai prophecy. Maybe everyone has been assuming that the three headed dragon House Targaryen's banner is referring to Aegon, Visenya, and Rhaenys but what is it is actually referring to this prophecy? What if Aegon had some reason to believe that this prophecy would be fulfilled in Westeros and that is why he invaded?
And now that’s proven in house of the dragon
Excited to hear your take, thanks for the videos and please keep them coming!
Welcome back! (:

Great video, as always!!
Love traveling through the Disputed Lands.
Azhor Ahai wields lightbringer. Lightbringer is the term to describe the Planet Venus which is called Morningstar. Sometimes, morningstar is also called the evenstar, because Venus appears right before dusk instead of dawn.
Its not farfetched to think that Azor Ahai is the guy that ushers in the long night and is also the one the heralds the coming of dawn.
She/He is both the villain and the hero.
Kinda reminds me of leto atreides II
So so happy you are back!
Great video. I've always been fascinated by the two Sphinx/riddle references in Feast, and what the author might be suggesting. This is the best discussion of that topic I've heard yet.
Thanks for a great new video!
Each of your videos is a treasure! I'm so happy you're creating new ones. Looking forward to your theory on the third head of the dragon.
Tis a slippery bugger is prophecy
It's ever vague and never clear
And every aspect of all you see
Whispers proof into your ear
And every time you think it's time
You discover yet it's not begun
And when you are waiting for its start
The prophecy reveals it's done
Never trust it 'cause it's written
To blindly follow is but farce
For he who's led by prophecy
End up with teeth marks on his arse.

Thanks for commenting! I appreciate the correction.
I think Jon and Daenerys will meet, become allies, get busy, then have a break like in the show because of his true identity when he takes his true name. But I think Dany will be pregnant - and since they aren’t married and will be born in the North - will be named Snow - and be Azor Ahai

That prophecy at the start feels so exactly about Dany that I can't imagine who else it might be
I had never heard "O-edipus", and then I had to hear it thirty times.
I think Jon is the trueborn son of Ned and Ashara, the irony of Catelyn hating the "bastard" is too rich. Don't forget, Ned Dayne wants to meet Jon badly.
I love listening to your videos when I'm out for a walk or driving somewhere. Thanks for creating them!
You're welcome!
Always great to get a vid from you Amanda and this was excellent as usual. Definitely agree there will not be one savior / messianic figure in this narrative and I have long suspected there will be a hindsight discussion after the conclusion of ASoIaF of multiple characters who embodied these prophesized roles in one way or the other. With GRRM I never thought it would be a simplistic this character fulfilled this particular hero role , in some ways Jon and Dany both embody both sides of the AA prophecy and I could see one or both not only being the savior figures but I would not put it past either to sacrifice themselves for the greater good if need be in the more Nissa Nissa aspect. Interesting take to suggest the three heads of the dragons could mean there could be three Azor Ahai / PtwP figures.
Granted I agree it will not be a simplistic this character is this hero / figure but personally Dany to me embodies Azor Ahai more than anyone in terms of the actual prophecy itself - literally woke dragons from stone under a bleeding star (the red comet) and she was born amidst salt and smoke at the volcanic island of Dragonstone which embodies both (salt and smoke) and in some ways could also work with her sort of rebirth at Drogo's pyre. The PtwP from the GoHH's perspective assuming that is a separate hero figure (which we do not know fur sure yet) to me seems to be more about Jon , who with me being a R+L believer JS is of Aerys and Rhaella's line and the embodiment / manifestation of ice and fire who will likely have an important part to play against the Others. If they are separate I would say Dany lines up more with AA and Jon more with the PtwP. But I do expect it to be somewhat more blurry regardless with multiple characters being considered either fully or partially occupying these heroic role / figures even beyond Jon and Dany , even in a lesser extent those like Stannis , possibly Jaime , maybe even Tyrion and / or others could be considered at least partially fulfilling such roles. Look forward to your future vids about this and any other concept.
I love how you put these theories together!
Thanks Alicia!
Watching your videos is just a delight :)
That's definitely mindblowing! Like, when you can't choose between 2 things, choose both)
My choise for the 3rd head would be either fAegon (though a Blsckfire, still a dragon) or Tyrion (if rumors are true and he is not Tywin's son)
I think both prophecies are red herrings: They might come true in some insignificant way. But the books have hinted that prophecies are more like curses to lead people astray, especially when they prophesy about seemingly good things.
New Video! Hurrah!

Crowfoods daughter....you are our Mhysa.....Man that cute kid at the end never gets old😇. I know its not a popular theory but this is why I believe Egg went to the other side of the coin and led to Dunk killing.him. Dunk was a true knight ala his last acts in each of the dunk and egg series'. Dunks acts are always noble. King slayer! What does that say about Jaime. Knights who question their knighthood!?....hmmm. It wasn't til Mel came along that we see Aemon come clean about what he knows the monologue with Jon aside though they are both relevant. What does this have to do with AH. Exactly tnree candidates none which are certain. Well done Crowfoods daughter(Amanda)😍 soo happy to see new vids from you. I think there will be a surprise character, one that we know already that's going to flip this story in its head. Crowfoods daughter!!!!🙆

Great job Amanda👏👏👏💜have wanted to do a video about the Sphinx. At the Citadel. Fascinated💙✌Aerys I was into prophecy. I'm finally learning more about Targaryens since doing Dunk and Egg book club💜🐲just finished The Hedge Knight and was talking about the Targaryens worried that they'd loose their power because there were no dragons. At that time
PTWP prophecy makes lineage of Daena important for me, as I believe her son Daemon was son of Baelor the Blessed, and before GRRM built Blackfyre family for Twoiaf, the show named Daemon's wife Serena, whose name is smilar to Serenei, maybe at some point Daemon's Essosi bride was a descendant of Saera, there is also Serena Stark the pregnant woman from Bran's vision, she was rightful Lady of Winterfell once but was passed for her uncle, we don't know what happened to her children.
There are some really interesting things going on with the Sara, sera, serenei characters. Several connections to the free cities.
The riddle over Alleras is that he is really Sarella, a highborn bastard of the Summer Isle and Dornish parentage. She is getting a magical education as well as a maester's education while tracking developments in Oldtown. According to Doran Prince of Dorne she is playing a "game" of some kind.
How did I not notice you were back till right now!!
Holy shit, you really did some great research here! It never occurred to me that there may be more than one Azor Ahai. Subscribed!

Quentin hoped it's Quentin. Sadly the frog can't jump that high.
Unless Aerion Brightflame's vision are true and we got Jesus Quentin.
Quentyn Martell
Asshai was likely a part of the great empire of the dawn who were most likely the predecessors to Valyria. So in that case the prince that was promised and azor ahai could just be different names for the same person.
Ps i wouldnt take anything in that stupid show seriously.
The quote about a comet being seen on the night Aegon was born was interesting. It could be said the red conet also heralded Grif's revealing, and his return to Westeros

Nicely done
Great breakdown!
Everything keeps pointing towards Daenerys. Born and reborn amids salt and smoke. And she literally woke dragons fron stone. She is special. Now let's see if in the books that's a good thing
Weird idea, but I just thought of something. I think it is important to note that while Azhor Ahai is one person, one body, in actuality it discusses 2 souls, his, and Lightbringer's (formerly Nissa Nissa's). It takes 2 to be the Prince that was Promised, the sword and the sword hand, so it makes sense that we need 2 contenders in a way
Found you from Bend The Knee! Loved your episode and am loving your videos.
Hey thanks!! Welcome to The Disputed Lands!
That was great. I never saw someone explain Maester Aemon's "the sphinx is the riddle not the riddler" in relation to Azor Ahai so well. You've earned a sub from me.
Thank you so much!
So we have Jon and Dany..... and tho most refer to him as Faegon, we have Aegon, whom I think is the genuine article.... So with some creative baby swapping going on, we have confusion. Aegon with Connington is now back at Storm's end... Dany with Mormont and Selmy is still in Maureen... and Jon is at the wall... about to be resurrected. Talk about weaving a web of tales.... So the Viserys who died with the golden crown had been swapped out somehow? and then we still have the Dayne's sword of the morning who needs to make an appearance.... and we can't forget Howland Reed either. This is so complex.
3 features
1. Face of a woman- Danny
2. Body of a lion - Tyrion or Jaime
3. Wings - crow jon
Excellent
Great work, even more evidence that AA is several people.
I still think that Maester Aemon has his dreams invaded by Marwin & Sarella with their glass candle, thus mentioning the Sphinx, but your added interpretation really kicks ass!
- One note though, the O in Oedipus is silent ✌️
This is going to get me in trouble, but I personally believe that Azor Ahai is a red herring. The real Shaggydog. Great video, though.
The human face = Jon/Dany ¿?
The body of a lion = Tyrion
The wings of a hawk = Bran / Stannis? Stannis has proudwing, Bran is the winged wolf
Who knows maybe I'm reaching
Tryion could represnt the body of a lion, but im seeing the three heads from the context of the original long night instead of in the context of the sphinx components although that may be playing a factor as well. If AA has three heads in the present timeline, AA probably had three heads in the original long night meaning nissa nissa was one of the three heads which is why dany got the sword through her heart even though she fulfilled the azor ahai prophesy, and gets all the NN and AA symbolism in the books. NN was one of the three heads of AA which is why we get tales of a woman ending the long night in YiTi even though there is an AA hero called Yin Tar from the same region. NN's soul and strength and courage was needed to forge lightbringer so she was an essential part in ending the long night. This is how dany can essentially be both AA and NN, because the dragon has three heads.
@@TheDisputedLands I sometimes believe Jon is a red herring, but winds will let us know
The Disputed Lands
This is how I see it as well. You don’t get Lightbringer without Nissa Nissa-she is an important piece of the prophecy. But is Jon Nissa, or is Dany? Will she quench a sword in his cold, resurrected heart? Or will his heart burn hotter after Mel resurrects him with fire?
It could be that the legend was mingled over the years, whittled down to give all credit to a single figure: Azor. While in reality Azor was a group effort, so to speak. That argument makes good sense. I kind of think ‘the one’ prophecies are completely overdone, so I hope it’s a group effort.
I will say, Bran being the third head makes some good sense. He will never walk, but he will fly. Perhaps warging into one of the dragons? He also has a more overtly magical/mythical storyline, in the same vein as Dany.
Oh, when will the Winds of Winter arrive? Hopefully before the world ends. Forecasts are looking grim.
Other fantasy series kind of pale in comparison for me. I’ve tried Kingkiller, First Law, and a few Sanderson offerings. The closest for me is the Farseer books by Robin Hobb. But it’s still second best. Not ASOIAF.
Wait so could Dany herself be the three head of the dragons? She has so many 3 symbolism, she has three dragons. And she might fulfill three prophesies. Azor ahai, prince that was promised, and stallion who mounts the world?? She is a little bit of this... a little bit of that. She is called mother of dragons, daughter of death, bride of fire, slayer of lies, etc etc. Especially with GRRM saying dany is "someone who makes the magic up as she goes along. She really might be someone who does anything"
Idk I've never thought of dany ALONE being the three heads of the dragons. But the fact they were discussing Dany and the multiple tales they were hearing of her. Then they said "ALL about dragons and a beautiful young queen (Dany)" Then they brought up the three heads of the dragons outta nowhere? While talking about hearing of dany freeing slaves, being with the dothraki, etc etc. All about dany being and doing multiple things at the same time.
The dragon has three heads may refer to creatures with human, wyvern, and fireworm DNA.
I think it’s interesting that the idea of the sphinx comes up. The house of Balaerys’ coat of arms is a sphinx and they were dragon lords from Valyria like the Targaryens. For me, I think the indication of the sphinx being the riddle means it’s possible other dragon riders still exist, and with Arellas’ mother being from the Summer Isles it’s possible a member of house Balaerys, possibly a bastard, survived the Doom and carried on the blood, and Arellas might be descended from the long dead house. The Summer Isles are quite close in proximity to Valyria after all.
It could also be a reference to the way dragons were created, being born of blood magic and unholy mashups of humans with beasts as well.
They are probably all Azor Ahai, or at least I don’t think we ever get a concrete answer of who it is !
So child of three is quite amazing like is it Child of her parents and the storm. Child of her parents and flame. Or Child of her parents and herself (when she is reborn in the pyre). Or maybe of all three Child of Man(or dragon) , of storm and of flame (and herself).
Or is she one of three children, one of three AA.
@@TheDisputedLands I did think about that but because I am bad at symbols I kinda am always like or a child of three, then there maybe 3 people (or children) of Targerian (3 dragon riders) still alive in the world and for me the kinda feels like the other two are inserting themselves (whomever they are) into the prophesy. Although I feel like that is just me.
Brilliant theory - as always!
By the way, in Christianity, God is also made up of 3 "parts" - The Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost. The Holy Trinity. And the son is also this savior figure.
It's also important in paganism - the the three phases of the moon, triple goddesses, etc
Amazing
Thank you!!
Azor Ahai could be several of the characters. I think it will be at least three of them.
