Standard T.V. Is dying. The reason why this show and so many others like it are able to not only go for a whole season, but be renewed with a second season is because there just isn't anything else worth showing.
They, no doubt, paid a ton of royalties for all the Batman tie-ins. To drop it now would be a waste of all that money so I expect them to struggle on for another season in the hopes that enough gay women will watch it. Hell, put Gal Gadot in it and I'll watch it just to look at her beautiful face. At least don't pick an actress that has toothpicks for arms and legs.
And there it is. Sorry, but in my mind, Batwoman isn't scrawny. She's muscular, fit, and athletic. Batman always had some pretty ridiculous plot armor too, but he was big enough and fit enough to kinda pull it off even when it's a bit far-fetched. But Ruby Rose is a twig of a woman. Even with the suit, it's hard to buy her as a someone who wouldn't get hurt and nearly paralyzed.
To be fair, quite a few are hired for their ability to look cute/sexy/hot/macho too. I like quite a few Arnie films but he didn't get the roles for his acting ability.

While sexuality isn't really a physical thing that can be seen just from looking at an actor, acting is one of the few careers where discrimination can be allowed. Viola Davis will never be Batman. Some roles can be race and / or gender swapped more than others, but in general it shouldn't happen too often. Having said that, Hollywood is a really gay town and gay actors and actresses have been playing straight characters for literally 100 years, so who cares about the sexuality of an actor as long as they can perform the role?

Batman always had some pretty ridiculous plot armor too, but he was big enough and fit enough to kinda pull it off even when it's a bit far-fetched. But Ruby Rose is a twig of a woman. Even with the suit, it's hard to buy her as a someone who wouldn't get hurt and nearly paralyzed.

While sexuality isn't really a physical thing that can be seen just from looking at an actor, acting is one of the few careers where discrimination can be allowed. Viola Davis will never be Batman. Some roles can be race and / or gender swapped more than others, but in general it shouldn't happen too often. Having said that, Hollywood is a really gay town and gay actors and actresses have been playing straight characters for literally 100 years, so who cares about the sexuality of an actor as long as they can perform the role?
