People always comment that I write at 90-degree angle. I taught myself to write like this when I was small because I kept getting bad grades in my handwriting class. This is a very satisfying interview for me. 😊
Thanks! I have tried so many times and quit, but there is hope for us left handed, sadly not much information and tutorials. But after seeing this video I got some ideas and I am giving it another try!
Best info I've heard for a lefty. I've have casually lettered in the past to get some custom results for my illustration and design work but it was very frustrating just trying to get through it. My results sufficed but the experience was horrific. I stayed away from it because of the experience but after 30 years I find myself back to realizing how much I love fontography and lettering, so I am trying once more to enter in on a professional level. Thanks again so much Klahr for sharing your experiences and detailed tips. It has given me a much better place to start from.
Thank you for this video. I have two left handed calligraphy students who are fustrated. My two lefty son and daughter figured out their own way over time but my current students will find much needed encouragement from your film.
Thanks a lot to master calligraphy. Got a feeling you start practicing at a early age. Right now you are way more experience than most calligrapher. Good job lo l
I needed this video. I’m left handed and I want to teach myself. I am struggling to learn how to manipulate and control the pen. I have hope I can learn.
thanks for this video! I am self taught as well, it took me a couple years to figure out which methods helped. I found for myself creating the letter shapes, not only right to left, but start at the bottom right of the letter towards the upper left... I have more recently discovered the method used here, and it is nice to know that other lefties are doing this as well. many thanks.
Yeah, this gives me hope because I'm in the beginning stages of learning as a left hander. It's so frustrating! But I noticed that all great left handed calligraphers write with the papers 90 degrees like he does.
+Calligraphy Masters yess please find more lefty id like to see how they do calligraphy the tips n tricks would help me out big time im really serious about getting into this beautiful stuff
yesssssssss finally its here,i think this is going to be a rough ride for me i do write downwards in my normal day to day writing but with a calligraphy pen i guess in going to do some practice god please help me
Well there are many ways mate ! This isn't the only way ;) But if you already do write this way, i don't think it will be that rough ;) Hope it was worth waiting and got some helpful info out of it ;)
Calligraphy Masters well i dont write like this often when i do i usually just sketch out the letters n then ink it up with my drawings but after coming across your videos i told myself this is how it should be done n the video did help out alot it was worth the wait THANKS
I am so impressed , but as a side writing lefty I’m hooped. I can do beautiful copperplate with a pencil ,various styles with a calligraphy felt no problem but trying to use a dip pen for copperplate, forget it
I'm confused, Klahr keeps talking about "writing down"...for blackletter- having the paper at a 90° angle, how are you writing down for all of the now horizontal lines, like the letter M? Again, with the paper at the 90° angle as that makes the majority of the letter M horizontal lines...?
There are English Automatic generated subtitles which you can turn on... they are not perfect, but I don't really have the time to them so if anyone else reading this is willing to help is more than welcome to edit the subtitles :)
thats what i want to do i wrote some poetry, poems n i want to write them down in calligraphy n hope to sell them as well i need to leave a foot mark before god takes me from this messed up world
I'm left handed... And this video has really helped me.. I'm glad i found this 5 days into starting my calligraphy journey.

I love penmanship, but never could follow the old books nor use the pens because they were designed for right handed people. This is awesome!
Excellent interview and absolutely amazing work even this guys practice sheets are top notch.

I love writing with dip and fountain pens but yes, being left-handed, writing normally is nothing but smudges.
I am so impressed , but as a side writing lefty I’m hooped. I can do beautiful copperplate with a pencil ,various styles with a calligraphy felt no problem but trying to use a dip pen for copperplate, forget it
You just need a workshop with Paul Antonio
@@CalligraphyMasters so how does one pull that off?
Thanks for this. I'm just starting as a left-hander.
You're most welcome 😊😉✌
So even with the top-down method, it is not possible to achieve flow as a lefty, correct?

i think this will help me greatly. thank you in advance.

There are English Automatic generated subtitles which you can turn on... they are not perfect, but I don't really have the time to them so if anyone else reading this is willing to help is more than welcome to edit the subtitles :)
Great story... i'm mixed hand

There is nothing wrong with being left handed. Nothing.
