Another great video. I’d like to see how you set up the taddle flag. Took me a while to figure out a setup to detect when those 12” walleye hit. Hate dragging around a dink when you know there are bigger fish down there
Thank you for the detailed descriptions of the boards and their potential uses. Very helpful. I'm new to trolling and primarily on big water. I really appreciated the live demonstrations of the release actions and setup descriptions.
I just got my first set of planers for musky and put or18 releases on them. I’m wondering how you set the tension on them, having them so the line doesn’t slip seems to damage my mono but when I loosen it to where it doesn’t noticeably damage my line it seems too loose
An alternative to the OR18 (if you're worried about damaging your mono) would be to use two OR16 (red) releases. The board might have more of a tendency to slide, so you can wrap the line once around one of the jaws (I usually go lower jaw) of the release - that usually helps hold line that likes to slip. Wrapping the line around one of the jaws of the release works on the OR18 as well, and is how I run mine (with braid) for muskies. Hope that helps!
I bought a set of planers for use in salt water. In all of these presentations, I have not seen anyone use these planers in salt water. Any issues with doing so?
I USE 30 LB POWER PRO BRAID HOW DOES THE LINE ON BACK CLIP OR 16 HAVE BE RIGGED SO THE BOARD DOESN'T FALL OFF THE LINE??? I FISH LAKE ERIE WOULD LIKE TO USE THE BOARDS WITH BERKLEY FLICKER MINNOW SZ 11 DEEP DIVER MAYBE WITH 1-3 OUNCE SNAP WEIGHT. I BELIEVE I HAVE OR 12 BOARDS NEVER USED THEM. INTIMIDATED!!

Thanks for the advise I've never used planer boards to troll, but might go pick some up now.

Luhr Jensen makes these for what you want. They're pink. We use them for rivers n salmon/steelhead.
