Finally back on the road again after a bit of abscence. Well, now I'm back with a new video every Sunday for the next 9 weeks or so from this fantastic tour. See you next week, whenI'm headed toward Florence!
Good to see you back. I am amazed to see you Europeans traveling by bike with a lot of safety and comfort from the campsites that exist everywhere. Here in Brazil we do not have infrastructure for cyclists, just as there are almost no campsites or bike paths, which makes my trips quite dangerous and expensive for having to stay in hotels ... I dream of a day riding around, especially in Italy. Good trip, I'm here always following.
Beautiful video Mikael, it was a pleasure to ride with you and a personal satisfaction to see you happy with our company and the places you have seen, sure that you will take with you a good memory of us and our country
Again, thank for your hospitality! You were so kind to me. And I'm sure I will come back to ride my bike in Italy again. Say hello to Christina for me!
Your hosts were such nice people. How fortunate for you. The streets look so narrow but everything is so beautiful and it's very cool to see the Leaning Tower in person. This looks like it's going to be a wonderful trip.
It's a pity you didn't take the cycle route fro Lucca to Pisa. But it would have been longer (almost 30km all together). It's good to see you again on RUclips😃
Yeah, I was pretty tired by that time. It had been a long day and it was the first day of the tour which is always rough. So I just asked Komoot which way I should take and ended up on that one. But it was ok, except for the tunnel.
Thank you for sharing your trip with us Mike. This was just wonderful. I appreciate the work you put into these and that you speak in English (so articulately). I went to Pisa 20 years ago but somehow did not notice you can walk around the wall on top 😬 You made me want to have a gelato and glass of vino. Looking forward to part 2. If you recorded 15 hours you must have about 30 episodes. It’s awful that those restaurants have all the beach space. It’s the same along most of the coast.
Great first day Mike , some great bike infrastructure in some of the towns . I'm glad you managed to get pitched for the night as that would have been a mare looking for somewhere else . TFS atb Dave
Once again I'm watching your videos while relaxing in my tent. Seems to be a tradition during my bike backing and bicycle touring trips ... Thanks for sharing your experience and adventure in Italy. I haven't visited Pisa for 20 years now. And it would be nice to cycle in Italy.
Thanks Mike. I've cycled across Tuscany from Pisa to Perugia in Umbria and so it is great that you are covering some of the sites. It is pretty hard terrain continually climbing and then losing height to have to climb again. Thanks for showing the lovely Lucca. Your hosts were fantastic. I look forward to your next films and hope that you are going to both Florence and also Siena (and perhaps San Gimignano.
A good calm in your content, Mike. I was cycling and camping in these parts a few years back. It was brilliant but the roads, not so calm 😀 Keep em coming.
Thank you for sharing Mike, That was great video and it has convinced me to follow in your tracks and do my own cycle tour in Italy next year. I may tro to do it in May/June and watch some of the Giro d'Italia as well.
What a good first day. What a nice couple on a nice bike. What size panniers are you running? Are they bigger then normal? Looking forward to your next video. Nice job editing and the music was great. Take care, Al
Keen eye Al. Yeah, those are Ortlieb's new Back Roller Pro Plus Panniers. They are 35 litres each if loaded to the max. They have worked out great for me so far. Review coming soon.
Such a great video Mike ! Looking forward to the next one :D ,but I have a question .. where did you find this beautiful music for your videos ? Thanks !
Thanks for yet another great video of your adventures. Do you have any hacks for flying with your bike into one location and out of a different one without having to carry an expensive plane bike bag?
Sure. I always use a CTC bike bag for this reason. It's foldable and takes up very little space in one of my panniers, plus it's cheap as well. Costs around 20 USD. @@BikeTouringMike Thanks. I have plans for international bikepacking once Covid restrictions are over (Asia is far behind Europe) and could never put that part of the puzzle together
Hi Jens! Yes I did. It was actually not expensive at all. It cost me around 2300 SEK or 230 Euro for me, the bike and all my gear between my home (Skellefteå) through Stockholm and to Milano/Rome. I checked my bike as a regular luggage and, used the 23 kg allowance very well. I strapped of the panniers to the frame of the bike, with most of the heavy things and took the other one as carry-on luggage.

Same problem here in India 0 infrastructure for camping and bikepacking.
Have a great trip Mike and please take us along with you.

nice first day Mike, and yes Italy is not like the north of Sweden, there is more traffic, but it is warmer. Enjoy your trip, thanks for sharing.
Welcome back! Too much wine and gelato! 🤣🤣🤣 Thanks for sharing the beautiful sights and the historical insights with us.

Wonderful first day back on tour Mike, and a great way to finish the day, gelato and wine.
But tell us Mike, I forget, how do you feel about tunnels?
A good calm in your content, Mike. I was cycling and camping in these parts a few years back. It was brilliant but the roads, not so calm 😀 Keep em coming.

That's an awesome tandem :)
Such a great video Mike ! Looking forward to the next one :D ,but I have a question .. where did you find this beautiful music for your videos ? Thanks !
Thank you George! All the music that I use in my videos come from Epidemic Sound.

Hi Mike did you fly the bike to Italy or how? How expensive was that? BR Jens

@@BikeTouringMike Thanks Mike - that was very interesting. I wish you have made a vlog about how that was done :-). BR Jens
First impression Italy's a beautiful country but tough cycling
Well, you pretty much hit the nail on the head there. This bike tour was very demanding physically. It's not for everyone.
Dou you like your new panniers? Are they not too big?
He needs to store his toilet paper 😆 Better not throw the other roll away, but put it in the toilet of the campground 💩
0:38 how many calamaries you need?
Too many adds Mike.
