I have a theory. I know that the reason why this song, although it is epic, is very calm, slow, is because that is the tone that Haloboi wants to manage, and it is great. But according to the script, Sans realizes before the fight that the human CAN NO LONGER RESET, so wouldn't it be interesting for that fact to determine why this fight OST is so calm? Sans knows that he is going to lose at one point, but he fights the human with satisfaction, because he knows that the result does not matter, he already won, the human can no longer reset, and the souls are destroyed, so he cannot flee from the underground either... So the human is indeed in their own funeral. Therefore, Sans would not have a reason to feel more encouraged, determined, or for the song to be much faster, because before the fight, Sans knows that the human has no way back. I feel this song is Sans mocking out the player, a way to let off steam.
I love how it sounds more like credits music than final boss music. Shows that the world's fate is already sealed, and the final battle is effectively a formality. Everybody knows how this goes, so let's get over it and let's get this over with.
“I don't care, this world means nothing Life has no meaning, my feelings are numb Faceless masses filed like gravestones Sacrificed for the glory of one Funerary cities, flesh press factories Corporate maggots feed on the carrion Funeralopolis, grey morgue apocalypse Black clouds form to block out the sun”
The tone of this song goes so well with it's own pace, it surely feels like there wasnt a CHANCE to win from the start, which... It's fairly accurate from the other comments. Man your take on dusttale is so good and so simple, liminal, a shell of it's former self, perfect!
I love how the majority of the dusttale community are making metal / rock songs references within sans's traditional megalo theme, it switches the traditional megalovania for something unique and even a unique setting, i love it. Keep the good work, hope this comes as a fangame so i can play it!
This (semi-) final track really expresses the atmosphere of this final standoff. For once, both of you are on equal footing, Sans savours every ounce of what he dishes out against the human because as it stands, he's already won. Despite knowing the inevitablity that he'll eventually fall in this encounter, he relishes in the reality that there is no going back for the human, because whether or not it was because of his own doing or because of an outside force, there is no going back for the human. They will be trapped in an isolationist hell carved out of their own doing, and in the end... *Nothing matters*
I think that instead of Chara leaving for an unknown reason, it should be because the DT extractor stripped the player of enough DT for Chara to not be able to cling onto the player's SOUL.
i actually love this bc its different. i like slow goth music already so this is perfect for me vs the 1000 other dusttale takes that just use a megalo remix

This reminds me of the end of the Snowgrave route in Deltarune where the music slows down and you are unable to defeat Spamton all the way until you call for Noelle. The difference is that here there is no one to call to.
The Soundcloud page of the song specifically credits "Reality Check Through The Skull" by DM DOKURO besides the original "Funeralopolis" by Electric Wizard. Maybe that's where the motif comes from... (I am not sure since I'm pretty bad at recognizing motifs)
* you kinda like being "curious", huh. * killing all of monsterkind, alphys, undyne... my bro papyrus. * heh... but kiddo, you can never get out of here without the SOULs. can't you? . . . * well, lets just do this. i don't want you waiting, bud.

It isn't anyone, it's chara leaving you because they found out that you aren't a human truly anymore nor their partner.
i thought it was cause chara was moving on (passing on from their ghostly afterlife)
Gotta love calm themes that show signs that the boss is victorious rather than have a pointless fight which only leads to their death eventually
