Have any of you guys had something like happen before? Please comment down below your worst music lesson experience 😂
this was me pretty much every week during the years I took piano lessons tbh
(kidding, but also not kidding)
@@jashepoon same;-;; especially when I was younger. Once I got a more strict teacher the procrastination went away tbh lol
My weekly experience
I was in college, and once I didn't practice for recital seminar, and I just got up to the piano and said, "I didn't practice, so I can't play today." Prof actually praised me for being so brutally honest, and then asked me (in front of 100 people) if I was sure I was in the right major.
That is wild 😂 Good on you for being so blunt! That takes some courage hahaha
@@PiergiorgioWilson goodness....i felt so stupid.... it was the Chopin 10/1.... not the sort of thing you can bs your way through!
@angie Well, yes and no. I graduated and had a very brief concert career, which was literally making me crazy. I discovered that performing for deadlines simply wasn't something I was able to do. It stressed me out way too much. But at some point, I could pretty much play anything; so I was very capable, I just didn't want to do it for a living. I quit playing for about 14 years, and started playing again a few years ago. Some of my recordings are on RUclips in audio. Hit or miss, really, but I nailed the 10/1 as if I had written it myself....if I do say so myself;)
@@peter5.056 ehhh it takes a solid 15 mins of playing to warm up to play that anyways…should’ve blamed it on not being warmed up 😂
@@We1Yu welll....prof was only asking a tempo of 88;)
When I was learning this piece, it was literally the same passage as in the video. My teacher grilled me on that. It took about 6 weeks for me to finally get passed the beginning without her stopping me. And even then, she didn't seem impressed.
Oh no! That trill in the left hand after what I played in the video would stump me for a bit. The Ballade No. 1 is very deceiving haha
@@PiergiorgioWilson For sure. I've done Hungarian Rhapsody No. 2, Chopin etudes, Beethoven Sonatas, but the Ballade is the hardest challenge I've come up against so far.
Same here - was practicing the same measures! If anyone figures out how to do that LH trill, let me know - I am procrastinating hard on that one 😂
"I'll just do that and I'll be good to go, i don't need to practice" is literally the MOST accurate description of me ever
I lived in Russia that time and my teacher was Russian… I love her, but sometimes she was harsh on me saying with her very soft voice “such a shame” and shaking her head. Once I cried and she stopped saying such things… then I understood that she used shaming for improving and motivating me ahahaha
So freaking relatable. 😂
What also happened to frequently was that my teacher was pleased by something I played while in actuality I hadn't practiced. When he told me how contempt he was, equally I would say "yeah, I know, I had a tough time getting this measure right", secretly knowing I hadn't done dip shit the entire week and the only reason I played it well was pure luck.
Anybody with the same experience?😂
Absolutely!!! A few weeks ago my teacher told me that I really had to practice this one part of the piece more since I couldn’t play it too well. I genuinely spent almost no time at the piano the upcoming week, but at the next lesson I played the hole thing amazingly and got a “wow, great job” from my teacher!
@@alizzia04 good work! 😂
1:15, what song is that in the background?
Hungarian Rhapsody no 2
Happened to me once
Jokes on you, i'm self taught so the only person berating would be myself.
Wait, then this video literally describes me.
🤣😂
😂😂 You can´t fool a really good teacher. 😄😄

Dude, your videos are good. I am studying piano right now as a senior in high school, and can play kind of hard stuff but I listen to everything and it is so nice to see people who are young and so involved in music. I would like more people to be like this, and to make it more popular, but Scriabin Rachmaninoff. Liszt Chopin And everyone else or just not for everybody. Love to see your work. Keep it up bro.
Another banger! Love seeing fellow classical musicians killing it!
Once I had an assignment to arrange a folk song and I didn’t practice it all week. During my lesson i just made up an arrangement and my teacher said “wow I can tell you worked really hard on this” :P
I think the idea is pretty good and the script good, at 1:18 I'd edit it to make clear it's a memory (by say, the throwback harp sound, a different filter, maybe some echo in the voices)
That's a great suggestion! Such an important audio queue I should've put it in!
@@PiergiorgioWilson it did confuse me and I was like, why's the teacher there before the lesson even started xD
I'd say it's not too late to reupload the video, depending on how perfectionist you are and how big of a deal it is for you. Not saying that you have to, of course^^
I learnt this piece without a teacher, because I had GCSE’s, so in the period from February to October this year, with no teacher, I learnt this Ballade, Beethoven 9, Rach prelude C sharp minor and started learning Moment Musicaux no 4. When I brought the Ballade to my current teacher who I’ve now had for two months I distinctly remember him saying (about the passage just before the one Piergiorgio plays) “it sounds lovely, and you’ve nailed the coda, but the piece is not whole if you don’t even have a sense of pulse in the first 0-14 bars”. I felt destroyed after that 😭. I then proceeded to play a mock up of the Ballade to my year (as played in the pianist because the whole piece was too long for the allocated time I was allowed to play 😂) needless to say after finishing the coda I briefly became the most popular person in my year for about a day 😂😂😂 the Ballade is truly one brilliant piece!!
(Edit: I put four months instead of two regarding my new teacher 🤦♂️)
I feel called out after seeing this being recommended to me when this happened to me (although on the violin) literally today 💀 why did I think I could play the Wieniawski Variations without practicing?? Anyways loved the video, looking forward to the next one!!
I have the perfect "get out of jail free" card you can play, in situations like this. Simply say, "my hands hurt." No teacher worth their diploma would make you play on sore hands. In such a lesson, you can learn about the piece in different ways: what it means, why the composer wrote it the way they did, and maybe theoretical analysis of the music.
I think we found our 2setpiano
As I got older, my piano lessons became sightreading lessons.
Verry accurate..
This was hilariously relatable lol, great vid :)))
I’m learning this piece right now!! This was so funny!! I’m at that part too and it’s been 2 weeks lool
my left ear enjoyed
Yup relatable
Yeah, practice is the mother of all studies 😍
This never happens. I love the piano and it's all I want to do.
My teacher: you practised without the score this week didn't you?
Me: Hole in 1
This isn't the worst experience but when one time I went onto my lesson all ready (because I practice 40 hours a day). I played through the music that I got through and she said it sounded good. Then she turned to the next piece......That I didn't practice at all because I forgot about it 🙃. Thankfully I was able to sight read through it with minor mistakes but I remember that my heart dropped when she turned the page 😂. But now I'm just honest with my teacher. If I didn't get to something I just tell them and it's not an issue since I usually try to practice daily. There's my long and boring experience. Sorry if I bored you to death lol. 😅
You could be a standup comedian
Entertaining. A good topic to get lots of responses. Common sitch.
Man got destroyed in smash
😭😭😭
What record did you use in hungarian rhapsody no 2
Love this content!!
omg if i am unable to get the things that i was told done, i literally cancel the lesson for the week xDD
had my piano lesson today, just like it. My teacher was gone for a week and I didn't practice once, the next week I was gone so I think you can guess how it went...
This twoset but for Piano?
👀
Wait, how old are you?
How old do I look to you? 👀
@@PiergiorgioWilson Well if I had to guess… around 19 maybe?
Can't relate.
