Markus Platt I play like a pro by myself but I just become sooo unconfident and unsure in front of my teacher Update: now my teacher thinks I have weak fingers, I feel you all 😬
Since I am a master of avoiding things I actually manipulated the conversation so that my teacher would be the one doing the talking and I turned into the therapist (when I was older ofc) so if by the end of the lesson we didn't have time to do much, her memory would tell her "u kept talking that's why" But after I became a teacher and saw how blatantly obvious these things are, I wonder if she actually knew and went like "she didn't study again, and she thinks I don't know. I pitty her. Oh well, we might as well chat a bit since she won't be doing any playing and I am tired of repeating the same lesson for three weeks in a row"
Me, too. My jazz piano professor once gave me a commercial free 10 minute speech about how it's my money, not his and I need to decide if I like piano or love it, then he left me there to practice for the rest of the lesson while he left to enjoy a walk in Riverside Park. Made me feel like loser and cured me of 95% of that issue. Oh, the shame...

I hate it when my teacher stays patient even when they can tell I didn't practice at all 😞
Last time I saw my as piano teacher, I didn't get to practice for months during marching band as a synth. He was cool with it as long I could show I was getting my part down.
Most of the time, I got clear, but sometimes, it felt exactly like this. Only he was nicer about my bs than I was on myself later.
This gives me anxiety
My viola professor would kill me
*this literally gave me flashbacks*
I feel attacked, you didn't have to out me like that
This is painfully true, oh my gosh. I honestly don't think us students have enough respect for the job that teachers do. They have to put up with us like this all the time. Thank goodness for teachers, though, or we'd all be hopeless.
10 seconds and I already felt called out.
This unlocked a primal fear in me I didnt know I had... I'm a vocal student but this still applies 😂😂😂
I always forget to practice and my teacher barely ever notices so I’m good XD
This gives me classical guitar flashbacks
This hurts even more because the last piece I learned was Claire de lune and of course that section was the one I needed to practice
hi yeah this is exactly how my vocal lessons went in high school istg my coach had the patience of a saint.
I hated trying to read sheet music. So if I knew the song I would ear my way through the part I didn't practice but my teacher would notice my eyes wonder off and call me on my bluff. Those were the days.
I’m to poor for lessons so I can’t relate but it seems relatable
The trick is to get your tutor to talk about their personal life😂😂😂
this is too relatable for me and i hate how he kind of looks like my teacher
For me it got to a point where my teacher asked did you even practice ?
