As far as thick grips go, I think it depends on the size of your hands & personal preference. I use an oversize grip on my putter and I think it helps with stability. I have tried full swings with irons with thicker grips and I didn't like it.
This is not a secret Most pros drag the handle - hardly news. Eddie Merrins taught "swing the handle" for years. Amateurs are always trying to hit the ball. Good players swing the club.

Its just a loose grip and then cocking the hands "forward" before you cock your wrists , and this helps you cock them....
that's a pretty good description of what's happening, some people call that first move a forward press, or a trigger

Marina Golf, in Mojacar Spain is a HORRIBLE designed golf course...absolutely horrendous. Needs to be remodeled by Stirling & Martin.
