I feel like some of the addons you use mimic the mindless ease that people complain about retail. Like the arrow and the speed run guide. I get that as a streamer you're multitasking a lot though. Maybe that's just not a part of the game you ever enjoyed. For me, I like playing without the visual or step by step lists, though I'll reference them from time to time. But quest limits--I never understood that! Definitely something I'd happily have them change.
Layers really ruined the immersion of vanilla classic for me. I know it was helpful at 60 and made materials more abundant, but I prefer the private server approach of everyone stuck on the same layer fighting it out. I remember the first time I went to SW on vanilla classic and it was empty - it felt so bad. Private server launch days were awesome.
Definitely. I will attack a mob and get layered while in combat. Or clear an area out of mobs to do a quest only to be layered underneath a fresh group of respawned mobs. It's not as though it feels like it breaks immersion, it directly does. Instead of making the items or spawns actually more abundant, they just avoided the problem they were trying to fix to create another. Everyone loves classic and yet it died so harshly. There's a reason they never wanted to give it to us, and why they gave it such a small team to manage it, then tossed it aside like a dirty sack of laundry as they intended to from the start. After all, why would we want to play the game that we love, the one that set records incomparable to any other expansion or release they ever had, or ever will have. So popular that these records transcended the game and even set viewer ship records for streamers. Literally 300,000 people tuned in to just one of the guys when it about to drop, let alone all of them added together. Millions of people who were waiting and watching for the moment it goes online. For classic we got broken promises and bought a yacht for Bobby. For another fresh we will do the same, only for Bill. Again they will prioritize the sub par retail, and niche expansion servers over the one who has the most promise, rooted in nostalgic memories and a genuine desire by numbers comparable to their entire current subscription count. They don't want a great game, they want mindless wallet openers and GACHA loot gamblers.
