  • 'Illuminations' - Architecture transformed into a meditative choral work
Saturday, 12. March, 18:00, 2022, Minorite Church Krems,
    Exhibition, March 12 - April 13 2022, Kapitelsaal, Krems
This video was shown at the exhibition in the 'Kapitelsaal' in Krems Minorite Church, Austria, as an accompaniment to the premiere of 'Illuminations'. It takes the viewer into the creative process behind the work. 'Illuminations' is a piece that revolves around the theme of ecstatic visions, using the voice as a vehicle for these illuminations, drawing compositional strategies specifically from the architectural form of the Minorite Church in Krems. The exhibition invited one to explore the creative process, with 3d models, architectural drawings and sound samples.
'Illuminations' is a choral work based on the architecture of the Minorite Church in Krems.
Nadja Kayali, the Festival Director of 'Imago Dei' in Austria, approached me with a commission to transform the architecture into sound. As I am trained both as an architect and composer, this was a very natural process for me and I was stimulated by the request. I have always had a symbiosis of these in my mind, as I have spent years studying both simultaneously.
