Combination of trend-volatility and oscillator indicator is very good strategy, like Bollinger bands and CCI for example

I like using a range of MA s and from chart to chart I try to stabilish which ones follow the prices in the most useful way. For some instruments I see that they are too volatile to be followed even by the longest MA s(ie.1000+ daily bars). So in such instruments I believe one should try to work in a different fashion or choose a different time frame.

Couldn't you use an incline and decline measurement (20% or more) of the MA as a filter to stay out of sideways markets and also to target the better trends?
