As someone who has experienced a psychotic episode I can tell you it is incredibly difficult, often horribly shameful and scary to hear what it was like for your loved ones who witnessed it. It’s something you don’t really remember. And you never consider that maybe they were concerned and scared. Maybe they cared and it was hard for them to see what you went through. From the inside, you think people all know, they all know something, they know something is deeply wrong with you, and you might as well be a leper. So it was hard for me when I watched this documentary because what happened to me was at the same time, same time frame. I have empathy for everyone but myself living with psychosis.
I’m in a similar boat. I’ve had psychotic breaks of psychedelics where I’ve ended up in ERs with family around me. Luckily I came back. But nothing was like the sinking feeling of realizing how much you hurt those around you and how much you lost yourself. Nothing will ever be as traumatic as those experiences. This happened to me a year or two after lean’s experience so I had a deep resonance and discomfort watching this. I hope you are better, there is light.
I ram around my ex girlfriends neighborhood thunking a sniper was going to kill me, I didn’t want them to get shit in the crossfire. Another time, with another girl, I thought she was sent by the government to get me to kill myself and I almost did. Another time I was hospitalized and I remember waking up in the hospital to flatlined EKG, I denied the existence of god in my head and it stopped. All helicopters are watching me, all people I make eye contact know what I’m thinking about. You are the object to a big show where we display how much you can mentally break someone for entertainment. That’s no longer my reality. Glad to be back ❤️
