  • The last edition of Evening Magazine on KPIX in San Francisco hosted in the field by Jan Yanehiro and Richard Hart. Following this broadcast it became a studio based show. Evening Magazine in SF was the first locally produced magazine format program produced entirely outside of the studio with portable ENG equipment. Now, any kid with a mobile phone can do it!

Talk about memories. I miss the old Bay Area of the 80's. Wonderful place and time to be a teen.

I loved this show as a kid. I remember on my 10th or 11th birthday they did the show from Raging Waters in San Jose and I was in a few background shots.

I'm with djc17, this takes me back to my childhood in the 1980s - I also watched this quite a bit back then. I loved the team of Jan and Richard. It was a shame that this series with this team stopped in 1989. They were a great team and the show a good one. Apparently this show was the first in US to have a magazine style format. This kind of show is missing from today and is why I loved TV back then.
I read that all the tapes of the shows were sent from Group W or KPIX to Pittsburgh and destroyed leaving only copies from hosts, viewers that survived (wiki). I would love to see more - hopefully more will emerge. THANK YOU for posting this!

This broadcast aired on Friday, October 27, 1989 (based upon the references in news coverage at 8:58 to Game 3 of baseball's World Series).

When this show debuted in 1976. They replaced the game shows that aired five nights a week, and also 1:25 to 1:26 shows Sir Rex Harrison.

I love the technology of the 1980s the stuff today in the 21st century I'm sorry to say but it sucks the technology back in the 1980s way better than now
