I really enjoyed this one Lee! Garry did a great job of showing you round the establishment. Mint Jelly is my favourite with mutton or lamb. We have an excellent family recipe for it and grow the mint in the garden😊 I'm glad you finally got a good meal lol
Lee, if you're still here, or when you come back from wherever it is you're going to, I'd recommend that you stop in at McSorley's Old Ale House, at 15 East 7th St. It's the oldest Irish pub in New York City. I don't think there's a great deal of food besides well-aged cheese, hard boiled eggs, and pickled onions, but the ale is their own brand. It's fairly safe to say that a lot of the clientele go there with the express intent of getting plastered.
Real old school NY joint with genuine history. Thanks for sharing this one. Slightly surprised by the lack of potatoe with the mutton. A small jacket would do the job nicely ... It's hard to find mutton in the UK nowadays so good to know its a thing at Keens!
Best video I have seen from you. I have noted restaurant for next time I visit New York. Would love to have seen crab cocktail. Thank you. (Do love Silver Fox)🇦🇺
*Finally* some good food! Long (long) ago my NYC routine was sidecars at the 21 Club then dinner at Keens. While the 21 Club is sadly no more, it's great to see Keens is still upholding its high standards! 💖
Hi Lee I practically grew up on mutton. I was brought up by my grandparents who always used to cook Mutton and similar types of meat. Chicken, Turkey etc were very expensive long ago. I think also by my grandparents having been through the war. They didn't waste anything.
I have to say... I was completely salivating watching this one. I love NYC and the next time I go I will make sure this place is on the list! Great Video
Lee that mutton looked really nice to be fair but the price is a bit steep, I remember getting a mutton stew crusty cob& butter in the Old John Peel in Bowness on windermere for £ 4.99 and it was Amazing!
I used to work for a very rich family in brig house and the MD said this place was class and if he said it was class it was class, definitely on my bucket list
Here in NYC we are educated, we understand Englandshire is part of Scotlandshire, even though Scotterland is part of Icelandshire, or is that Swedenshire? Who cares, it cold. Amazed you come from Englandshire, your Engliiiish is so good. Sorry, Engleesh.
I wasn't keen on it Lee, it was just meat, it needed something else.,.... vegetables or potatoes, something to make it a meal 😊...... enjoyed video and HAPPY valentine's Day ❤️❤️❤️💎xx
Another quality video, I’ve recently subscribed to your channel. Loved the Benidorm videos you were spot on there, we go all the time. NY looks ace…..brilliant mate!
These establishments have been around for so long cos quite simply they do what they do the best,no frills or drama just proper good service and amazing scran.
An old and interesting place and the meat looked tender and juicy, it could do with some roast potatoes though. Makes a change from the other food you have had to eat recently.
A 10 plus, WOW! I was surprised, though, that there was no choice of potato with the meal and other greens other than lettuce. I'd give it a 9.5 because of that. Definitely a character restaurant.
Lee looks a cracking day, glad to see we are having another fantastic tour of NY love it. It giving me a list of places to visit when I visit hopefully 2024. Keens looks a quirky restaurant a must to visit on my list. Omg god the guy who telling you about photos etc is a fountain on knowledge. Omg as a lamb lover I think that looks absolutely delicious I bet it’s cooked to perfection so tender and juice . I give it 10/10 for the food and another 10/10 for the ambience of the place. Another cracking video Lee 👍👍😀😀 keep them coming.👍👍🏴
Lee I’m glad you had a nice meal that hasn’t been gone so well for you I was in New York in November and the food was dreadful I’m glad you had a better experience today so County Dublin
The best I've seen our friends across the pond put before you to date. That chop was screaming out for mint sauce though and where were the new potatoes ? Love lamb but prefer a lamb shank with mash potatoes and runner beans.....I'd have been on the plane home after the first day 🤣
A different vlog this time, and a much more satisfactory one too food-wise! I love history and for a relatively young country, Keens had it in bucketfuls! Really interesting stuff, and the food looked amazing too….pricy but I’d say worth it for the experience alone
I always wanted to go to a restaurant that serves Mutton maybe your find one in uk to review when I'm on my travels especially around the Midlands I have started visiting places you have reviewed
That’s a 15/10 all day long. Looked bloody gorgeous. One of my favourite meats. I am going to look into the history of this place - I am a ‘Keen’ as well, and I know a lot of my relatives emigrated to the USA back then. If I’m ever there I definitely will go.
Hi Lee I haven’t been to Keens since the 1980s and it doesn’t look much different from then, almost going back in time ,except for today’s prices! We used to go there after frequenting “Blarney Rocks”Irish bar on 33rd street (it has since closed down) something to do wit Penn station!Nice memories take care
Glad u enjoyed your dinner Lee, everything looked very spot on…A little word of advice for the future- u can’t have lamb without the mint jelly. It’s like having bread without butter, the side dish u had a very interesting history lesson to wash it down. Cheers, 😎👍🇨🇦
Babe Ruth I was the first American who had a voice box , he smoked a 1000 Cuban cigars a day lol , Lee where's everybody gone in New York . Lol , can't wait RETURN OF THE MACC so let's have a f.ckin party lol for you American viewers you're version is Ramell lol .I LOVE America 👍🏻🙏
Auch well Lee, least you gave me n the Mrs a great laugh with this vid, fatty mutton chops, undercooked, dripping wet and then you added jelly to it, the Mrs was boaking n I couldn't stop laughing, she said was the jelly a moist maker!!
Keens is a must visit restaurant in New York. I was happy watching you enjoy a fantastic meal after the many disappointment I got meals you have had on this trip.
Well Lee bout time you had a nice meal...the restaurant looks very nice..your meal looked very nice..if you are a meat eater...Im a veggie...Gary knows his stuff aye...enjoyed the video looking forward to the next one..:)...Martin missed out aye..:(
At Last Sunday dinner done New York style Lol Glad you enjoyed what you had but I didn't see any Yorkshire Pud on your plate, are you waiting to get back home to have that..
That looked amazing mate and the history of the place I found fascinating. I loved the way the juices just dripped off the mutton. To be honest, at somewhere like that I thought the bill would have came to a but more. So glad you finally got value for money these past few vlogs. I’m sure you paid not far off that amount for some of the poor meals that you had in New York. 10/10 for me. And let’s just say I’d be very “keen” to try there😉😂. Thanks for sharing again buddy.
We were so happy to see you finally get a meal that you enjoyed, up to that point I was feeling bad that it was all going south, the managers education was unreal, you can tell his heart n soul is in that business, a first class review, loved it. America really has changed especially in the last 2-3 years, its not just NYC, food quality is down, prices are up and the greed with tipping and service charges is beyond belief, everybody has their hand out, we have certainly cut back on eating out, the prices are killing us., Id sooner stay home and have scrambled egg or beans on toast than drop close to $50 for a no frills one course meal, it all goes down the same hole.
Another famous old NY bar is Pete's Tavern in the Gramercy Park neighborhood which began officially in 1864. Writer O. Henry lived nearby and supposedly wrote his story "The Gift of the Magi" there.
What a fascinating place. Thanks for letting me see it. How does the food compare with DelMonico’s - my New York favorite when I used to visit some years ago. Mutton is so difficult to get nowadays and, when cooked well, it is outstanding. Excellent vlog
My thoughts exactly! This place had everything that every other food venue Lee's visited on this trip hasn't had: quality of food (the Chinese he went to was probably the closest to this, but still leagues off), service, history, and surroundings. Keen as mustard to go here!
You could put that lamb back in the field and it would run away bleating. That was way under medium. But that said, nice to see you branching out into different food.
I don't do lamb/ mutton I'm afraid, but great vlog as usual. I tried to buy a mug from your merch store the other day. They sent my money back as none in stock 😮
Your cut is very similar to a Barnsley chop. I think Lamb Mutton has seen 3 spring seasons. Cracking value too. Great video, the ambiance is something else.
I'm so glad you found something in New York that you really enjoyed.. and it did look delicious to me too. I hope you enjoy the rest of your trip. And I hope something else good comes along to eat. And for God's sake be careful.
Hey Lee! I love lamb as it’s my favourite meat. But never had mutton before. Quite a lot of meat but being English I would want some other veg besides - was that cabbage on the plate. Gotta put some stooge with meat there. Expensive in my eyes so I’m a bit meh on that. But as long as you enjoyed it that’s the main thing. Great filming today as always. A relaxed video compared with the heights of yesterdays 100 storey premiere. Take care 😘👍🏻
If you have had a curry in an Indian restaurant then you would have had mutton, most "Lamb" curries at traditional tandoori restaurants are in fact cheaper mutton.
Finally the curse is broken. And the fact it was mutton brought back memories from when I was a kid probably my absolute favourite meat slow cooked with mash broccoli and cabbage. Great work pal 👍🏼 MORE MORE MORE SUPERB!!
I’ve had steak there twice. Can’t wait to try the mutton chop. Mr. Bernstein was amazing. Hope to see him there later this year while staying at The Pulse. Great presentation.👏👏👏👏
Thank goodness you got a decent meal at last ! What an amazing place and how knowledgeable was Gary, he was excellent. Food and wine looked great too !
@@thornbird6768 I totally agree. Mashed potatoes would have been a good accompaniment with the mutton chop and sauce. Lee 👍👍 ,Keens Steakhouse such history and a beautiful establishment and the mutton did look nice. Glad you enjoyed your meal thankfully they had no fish and chips on the menu 😄

Interesting to here the history of this place. A rather beautiful building with a very cosy feel. Food looked good, I like pink lamb. Thanks Lee
Looked great Lee. I would’ve had mash and fine green beans too.

Giving that a 10 certainly doesn't seem unjustified. Meat looked very nice, great venue and history lesson 👍
Keens is famous for their Mutton. Their Prime Rib is amazing too. One of the few NYC fine dining establishments that is worth their cost.
Loved the Maître d explaining the history of the place. It would definitely enhance the dining experience for me. Food looked good too!
typical American voice so soothing lol great video keep up the great content
