The Dawgfatha's BBQ I'm a new subscriber...I just ran across your page. It was even better; I'm a Texan myself..right here in Waco. Everything looks great and I love the shirt! Keep up the good work!💗😂
Can’t wait to try that, but I want one of those shirts you’re wearing 😍
Looks nice! Temps and time also make sense . I see videos with guys that are “smoking” at 250-275 and getting a bird done in 2 hours!! Lol
That spray oil is smart.
Do you cover as it rests or leave uncovered so the skin stays crispy? Cooking one this weekend
I like this guy. No show, no complicated rubbish talk. Just smoking with simple directions.
This guy is the Bob Ross of BBQ. So chill to listen to. Keep it up man.
I was thinking the same
Sure does look like a happy little chicken
@JIm jim Back under your bridge, troll.
Bruh I saw your comment before he started his video; the first sentence didnt disappoint
So true haha
You ever just see someone and your like…that’s a good hearted person. This guy is putting off those good people vibes. Thanks for the tips man!!!
He knows what he's talking about and is just so relaxing to watch. Smooth voice - he should do late night radio DJ.
I just bough a pellet smoker and made your rib recipe. My neighbors were in awe how amazing it was. You are so easy to listen to and don't talk down to people. I love your channel and keep up the great work!!
Thanks David! I appreciate the kind comments my man. What kind of pellet cooker did you get and how are you liking it? Tell the neighbors hello and thanks for watching the channel and commenting brother.
Ok- you continue to impress- your instructions are clear, your camera presence is awesome, and the food comes out amazing! You should have your own show on TV! I would watch it!
So, this is an amazing channel. I've been watching and subscribing to BBQ videos for over 10 years and I CANNOT find another channel that is as approachable to an average guy like me who just wants to make some DAMN good BBQ for family and friends. Thank you for your content and PLEASE keep on posting!!
Trying this today for the first time. Thanks for keeping it easy man, I appreciate ya!
Thanks bro! You got this!
“ Real men smell like BBQ “…..thanks for the recipe and the smile.
Nice, glad to see you're looking out for the the beginner. Keep them coming.
You can use any cooking spray. Try Pam cooking spray.
Got a whole chicken in the fridge...will be the second cook on my new Pit Boss pellet smoker. Gonna try your method, can't wait!
Watching his videos took my BBQ game to a whole new level. Ribs, Brisket, Chicken
Thank you brother!
I just got my smoker a few months ago and everything I've done is because of your videos, thank you from my family to yours ☺️
Ok, so today, I followed these directions and I am the hero of the day! It turned out GREAT. You can bet I'll be following your videos!
I made my first brisket few days ago following your steps and it turned out unbelievably. 8lbs brisket down to maybe 5-6lbs was gone in few hours. Everyone came over and tried it and loved it. Thank you! So: I’ve sent them your way and now I’ll try chicken :-) thank you bro
Followed his beginner's brisket video, turned out great and I'm watching everything this guy has now!
I just wanna say big respect, this is the best smoked chicken I’ve ever made.
Showing people how to cook meat they can afford is priceless! Good job man.
This man should be on TV
I've got three dry marinating in the fridge soon as this bacon thaw I'll add some wrapped beef and sausage dogs. Tomorrow evening it's going to be nice!
Great video! Your the Bob Ross of grilling! Thanks for the help brother, god bless and keep doing what you do.
B&B is the best flavored pellets that I’ve used. By far.
I've smoked several chickens using his method and the always turn out better than any rotisserie chicken you can buy period
Thank you for sharing and doing this video. I’ve done whole chickens twice and they’ve been great. Never in my life have I had a juicier chicken
Wow boss,,,nice looking bird there.
Great video as always.
Say I use a little trick with the ends of those legs that may be of value to you.
I push the bone end of the drumsticks through two very small slits in the skin in the lower end of the cavity. The more you can bend the knee and push the drumsticks up, the better.
Plus it allows ya to keep the small slits high enough so they don't tear out.
On bigger birds like a duck for example, you can criss cross the drumsticks to help you truss him as well. If it's a big enough chicken you can do the same thing.
Cut your little slits high up on that cavity skin and put the left leg tip through the right side and right leg through the left side.
It really keeps the legs protected and if you happen to have anything in the cavity it save you from having to sew that cavity closed.
Take it for a drive and see what ya think and please keep up the great work!
Bill
😎👍
Oh man the bark on that bird is incredible. Excellent job Sir.
Gave me a new perspective of seasoning whole chickens and turkeys. I never thought to put seasoning on the inside!
Finally! Thank you! There’s a lot of confusion out there. Very clear. Except, I would remove from stove at internal temp of 155 F in the breast.
I'm an Aussie who's just bought a smoker and tryna learn from the masters from the us of a!
cheers bro , awesome video.
You're a boss dawgfatha! I started out smoking on my kettle style grill and learned everything I know from your videos I've recently switched to using an actual smoker and all that knowledge translates over. I practically follow what you do step by step and my food comes out amazing every time thank you so much
I don't Cook, but you are building my confidence to where I will give it a try
Go for it ArKo! Just have fun!
Really enjoyed your video, and I like the idea of setting the chicken on a metal rack for ease of handling. Makes sense. Just got a new Masterbuilt Electric Smoker and just getting started with recipes and such. Thanks again for the tips.
Good luck with the Masterbuilt. My two priors quit after one season each. Heating element failures (3) and one control panel meltdown.
Thank you dor this simple video, you showed us how to do it without talking and taking so long, i did not have to fast forward
Thank you
You are a awesome teacher! Everything I have watched so far looks delicious! Yum Yum!!!
subscribed. EXCELLENT video - clear, concise, and easy to follow instructions with no extraneous information. Can't wait to watch more.
The moment his big mug came on my screen and spoke, I new I was at the right place 😎
I now say “whole smoked chicken” the way you do. Thank you for the video!
Thanks Dawgfatha. I really appreciate your straight forward, no nonsense talk through. I can tell that you really love what you do.
My wife gave me an electric smoker for Christmas. Never smoked before and can’t wait. This video convinced me to try a whole chicken for my first smoke. I keep seeing other videos that call for brining - I’m going to trust you that I don’t need to do that to get a tasty bird. I like the idea of keeping it as simple as possible!
like yourself I am a new B to Pellet smokers. This man has taken the fear out of SMOKIN
I have never been successful at grilling chicken until I watched your video on smoking a chicken. The chicken turned out awesome, thanks
AWESOME!!! Thank you...
Man this is the BEST looking smoked whole chicken on youtube👍👍 I watch it regularly!
Beautiful bird. And great description, highly detailed. What a man, what a bird. God bless.
Dude keep up the great work! Doing it BIG bro! Love the recaps.
Excellent job Dawgfather love your videos keep them coming!!!! 🙏🙏
for the wing, instead the ''over and behind'', try the ''below and under' technique. I'm not kidding, way better
Just subscribed. I very much appreciate the simplicity and detail. Will be using this method tomorrow to smoke a bird for my wife! This will make her smile! Thank you sir for this video!
Great video sir .. got my first smoker and thank the universe for RUclips and content creators such as yourself … your chicken smoke will be my first attempt .. gonna film it post it and mention your channel
I'm honored Kevin. Thank you...
Thank you for the vid on smoking a whole chicken - nicely done
We’ll be using our new pit boss smoker/grill combo for the first time this Easter Sunday. I’m nervous, but you made it look so easy. Thank you. Made me hit the subscribe button. ❤
I got to say this dude explains every detail he's very good
I'll try this on Saturday for sure. I tried your brisket for beginners. It was perfect and the whole gang loved it. Best BBQ channel. Thanks @Dawgfatha!
Definitely like how simple you kept it. Going to try this on Saturday. I also like that you showed what type of wood you were using.
Gotta be the most chill yet informative cue channel
What does daddy get for all his hard work? A big piece of Chicken!!! Great Job for real!
Loved the vid, just got my new smoker today and going to try a chicken tomorrow. What I liked the most about your vid was that you didn't yell at me in the intro like other RUclipsrs.
Thanks Mark!
The whole chicken looked perfect! So crispy and juicy! Also, thank you because your instructions are always simple and so easy to understand! Yum!! 😊
Thank you Lisa. I try to make it simple and easy. Glad to hear it is coming across that way.
I’ll be doing this tomorrow. I’ve did my first brisket last week and was really happy with it for it being my first one. I’m at the point where I’m very comfortable and confident in my pork shoulder. THANKS FOR ALL THE TIPS!!!!! You have really helped me with my bbq game!
So like I said, I did a whole chicken today. I pretty much stuck to this guide. The only real thing I changed was the rub and I tossed an orange in the cavity. This might have been the best thing to ever come out of my smoker!!! Thanks again!!
I just bought a Traeger and made some ribs and they turned out great. I plan on smoking a chicken this weekend and using your vid to make it. I love the energy and vibe you have. Looking forward to some smoke chicken. Keep it up
Great video. Simple, concise and thorough.
Cooked a whole chicken on my new camp chef pellet grill today. Just used a basic salt pepper and garlic and some butter spray. Went at 350 for about 2 hours. Came out perfect....loved it! Thank you so much for your tips! Going to try a brisket soon
Love it! Breaks it down and simplifies it! I have subscribed! Will continue to follow!
Absolutely love your channel sir, keep ‘em coming please!
Just received my first smoker as a gift. I am really exctied. I love your videos man. Very simple instructions with visual aid. Great presentations backed by a cool personality. Thank you man
Thank you for this, got my smoker the other day and this will be my first cook.
I just found my first Smoked Chicken Recipe.👍👍👍
Smoking a whole chicken, for time first time, right now. I have an old school OK Joe's wood smoker and can't wait to try out this chicken. I appreciate your videos and hope to take my experience to the next level! Thank you!
Awesome!!! Good luck and I look forward to hearing about your triumphs!
@@TheDawgfathasBBQ The flavor was superb! I still have to work on the temperature control of my fire. Again, thank you. I look forward to getting more tips and tricks from you!
Thanks man! Using your method today for the first time. Excited to see how it turns out.
How did it turn out?
@@tecstrengthandnutrition5233 chicken turned out great! I needed to get the butter spray on there more though to really crisp up the skin. That was the only thing I missed on.
My mom just butchered a whole bunch of chickens she raised and surprisingly with all the smoking I've done I don't think I've ever smoked a whole chicken so ima cook one up for her see how it turns out for me😆
I ended up making it for Mother's day. She loved it. Thanks.
Best chicken ever I put corn on the cob in using the pepper salt and garlic with butter wrapped in foil last 45 minutes of the cook it came out great as well the temp of the breast when pulling it out was 170 degrees but the skin looked great this was done on a Dyna Glo vertical smoker with an offset fire box with charcoal and hickory wood chips that were soaked in water for 3 days . Believe mee keeping the temp at 350 for two hours was a challenge but hey it was a lot of up and down adjusting dampers and the bourbon definitely helped the Dawg Fawtha definitely knows his stuff. Wil be doing this again Best tender juicy chicken with crispy edible skin ever!!!!
I butcher my own chickens, just got a smoker, trying this tomorrow 😋
@the dawgfatha's bbq... the very last 10 seconds of the video is what made my decision on doing it your method. "Mmm thats good" and the close up slow video.... wow looks soooo good
I've done many smoked chickens and to me bringing makes a big difference, not saying that yours not perfectly cooked but perfectly seasoned I don't know, I'm just going on what I've experienced when I don't brine or inject. If I have no time to do either I would at least raise the skin and apply season under that and try get it into the the thick thighbone area. I'm just saying as for me that breast and thighs are just to dense for the season to penetrate if just applied to the skin only. Even if I put it in the cavity it would usually sweat away, but that just been my struggle.
Rarely do I ever brine and I may inject occasionally. Nothing wrong with it at all either. With that said I don't have a lot of problems keeping the bird moist and flavorful either though.
Great video! Spraying butter on it, Genius👏🏽!
We followed this recipe tonight it turned out mint. The skin was un edable ( knife would even cut it )but the meat was epic.
Your m very first thing to cook on my new smoker.!
Nice. Doing two for the 4th of July. Thanks!
Another great video, I like the way you keep it all as simple as possible and explain every step. Thanks!
Thank you. Informative and helpful. Smoking my first chicken tomorrow, and watching all the "how to" videos I can. Yours was one of the best so far.
Alton my friend, you smoked that bird like a true master...great cook and great video!!
Thanks brother!
Wow do I watch your videos after lunch? I just feel like I'm starving until dinner!
You are the man! Followed this and the chicken was out of this world! Thank you please keep them coming
Awesome, I haven’t smoked a chicken in ages. Think I’ll have to do that soon!
I did mine as you described, it turned very good and so juicy.
Absolutely love your channel and videos! Love how you keep it simple and dont overthink/over-engineer BBQ. Gonna be smoking a bird this weekend--cant wait!
I must agree your voice is reall relaxing lol
Great looking bird. I would suggest not using spray oils if ever possible because of the propellant used in them. I would use a brush and some regular oil or butter. Just a suggestion!
Great video man. I’m smoking 2 chickens for thanksgiving to start a new appetizer tradition. I like your technique. I’m going to apply a couple of the methods
Awesome! Happy Thanksgiving!
Great stuff Alton! That bird turned out great!
Followed your method on my offset smoker came out delicious man. Thank you Dawgfatha and Happy Thanksgiving!
Awesome!!!
I got to admit it looks good I’m going to try it
Don't normally subscribe after a first video. Love your stuff so I did.
Love the commentary and explanations. Truly thorough and understandable.
Thanks Bro. Love the shirt too
I’m going to try it like this tomorrow night
My Man Big DF! You know a turkey is up next! Quick teasing! 🤠👍🍗🇺🇸🍺
Your video was helpful, because I'm smoking my very first chicken ever on my masterbuilt electric smoker next week.
Awesome!!!
Thanks for the wing tip, tip😉😆 I'll be using that in future 👍👍
Thank you for watching and for commenting. I really appreciate the channel support!!!
