I read this to my coworkers during break time and I received a round of applause. Thank you Neil Gaiman for inspiring me and giving me the courage to share my love of literature with others.
One thing I love about his stories is while they can emphasize a cycle of guilt and cruelty without redemption or change they can ultimately be about the necessity of their opposites.
I had just read this story and was looking for a link to send to a friend, This is infinitely better. I am curious though, It appeared that Neil was teary at the end, What was that about?
I understood that he is torturing himself. When he says "time is fluid here" shows that past, present and future are concepts that don't exist in there. Note that the new person also wears expensive clothes as the ones he was wearing before the physical torture.
After a thousand years of torture, the man becomes a demon. The demon who tortured him was clearly a man before, who endured the same torture. And so it goes on.
I'm not sure, but I think your old animation stuff is pretty cool and also I'm pretty sure I was inside of that fire dome from your Charleston video when it was at regular burning man a few years ago.
I feel so heartbroken. This is my favorite piece. :(
Is anybody here just to enjoy the soothing sound of Neil Gaiman's voice? I still find it very soothing
Guilty.
Oh yes! It's so relaxing!
I also love this story. But yes his voice is soothing af.
Yup that’s what I’m here for
@@steffortney4246 He is guilty. Yes.

A man born to be a storyteller❤️
to me Neil is the greatest storyteller, and I usually abhor superlatives.
@@crsm42 Neil abhors consent.
Goosebumps hearing him start "time is fluid here..." my favourite story, the one that regularly haunts me❤
This man is a genius!
One of my favorite stories. I don't think you've written anything I don't like. Thank you for reading. 🤗👋💜

Hypnotised by his soothing voice. Beautiful!
Millenia upon Millenia upon Millenia upon Millenia upon Millenia.
It all ends with a warm hug in the darkness of space.
Favorite short story of his, I've read it for several friends.
The voice is the story in it self
I love this story!

I guess it's just the emotional cost of interpreting a character in an emotional history
The fear that this is not just inside his head.
This story haunts me regularly
He's amazing storyteller
No one is innocent.
💜
Steve👋❤😌
He's starting to look like a fictional God.
He is Dream....
Of the Endless...
He reminds me of Alan Rickman for some reason.
Wow
I have always wondered why the man put up no resistant and simply resigned himself to his fate
holy shit
so is it that hes torturing himself, or that he's torturing the next resident of hell?
Yes
@@zacpugh6100 what yes? there is an "or" in a sentence

He is becoming a new demon so he can continue the cicle
Ho Ly Shit. That voice.
I already spend every day obsessing with all the ways I hurt the world. Does that confirm I’m in hell?

@@WhoIsVerminSupremeI appreciate that, sadly I will never see myself as good.
Yeah, I know the feeling. Then again, things can change. Sometimes for the worse, but other times for the better.
Here for the ASMR
Oh, the irony!
When Neil goes to hell…….
Jesus is the way.
there's always this type of comment lmao
