I got the same bass and the same finish! I swapped to Rotosound strings for that Chris Squire tone! Roger Waters was the reason I absolutely wanted one! It’s got some dings on it meaning that it has been used! I love this bass!
I just received mine yesterday and really love it. Mine came with the same stuff as yours. Here we are two months a few days later and I found myself playing the Rickenbacker 90% of the time. One more thing, the sustain on it is unreal.
You’re correct! The S in 4003S means special:) because in the way they were originally made “special” for export to Rose - Morris in England for sales in Europe.
My Ric Bass is a regular 4003 but I think the binding and sharktooth inlays works well with it cause its a mapleglo. But I recently got a 330/12w and Im really digging the look of it without binding and with the dot inlays.
Great job playing the riff consistently throughout the pickup changes. Also, I really appreciated how you dug that pick into the strings and gave them a proper play! That bass sounds fantastic.
I’ve got an old 4003 from the 90’s that doesn’t have the vintage pull knob, but I run that sucker through the Rick O Sound and dial the bass almost all the way back on the bridge pickup’s amp so I still get that same vintage tone. Nothing comes close to the sound of a Rick to me, best bass ever made. Good video mate.
Video was just fine Brother!📼👍 Gotta admit, Fireglo looks pretty fly without the white border!👌 Good Googily-Moogily! THOSE TONES!!🤗👂🎶🎶...😇!! I have a 2020 Mapleglo in transit as we speak!!🤗💖!! I CAN'T WAIT!!📆🐌 (Seller claims it comes with all the candy. I did see an extra set of Labellas in the case.👀)
@@jackdonovan4343 Well, I found a seller on eBay for the Mapleglo. Unfortunately, that one fell through.😒 I was able to get a 2019 Walnut 4003 for $1900 (eBay) it was in great shape.💪 And it is in my hot little hammies👐!! I love it🤗
You and everybody else that tells people that it’s pronounced the way it’s spelled are a joke. Geddy Lee pronounces it as Rickenbacher so go and tell him the correct pronunciation. The name was anglicized. The original spelling is Reichenbacher.
Also I forgot to mention: If you’re gonna play with your fingers I recommend putting a clear Thumb rest on top of the middle pickup to get the warmest of tones:)
I have 2013 model and few things about this bass. First of all it is awesome but over prized. You can buy new around 2200 € and real prize should be at least 800€ less. I also took my bass to shop for couple modifications. Bridge was first thing to go. Even it looks cool but it is a mess. There is also SO MUCH varnish on the neck it is almost unreal. Also mine had 7 frets higher than others. So i payed about 1700€ for used Rick and it was hardly ever played so condition was awesome . After sanding frets and all that extra varnish off and bridge change it became WAY better to play and sound is better too. Rick is icon brand just like Harley Davidson or Triumph so that might be the explanation for over prizing. I wont sell mine for a million years even it had flaws and too high prize. Good video and nice playing dude /
The photo mistakenly noted as Chris Squire is actually bassist Ray Bennett of the group Flash. Ray Bennett at one point played with Peter Banks a former guitarist of Yes, which explains the confusion.
get a Harley Benton ,its a fraction of the price ..and is just as good ?? well almost ,, you need good ears to tell the difference..old man bass player of 50 years Conan UK xx
@@bretter9935 FYI, I got my Fire Glo last week, and sadly had to send it back. Between my girlie little hands and the thick chunky neck I could barely play it. Oh well . . .

I just picked up a 4003s myself and I can’t put it down. It sounds like no other bass I’ve ever had! I am so glad I finally got one!

Put thomastik infeld jazz flatwounds on it. Perfect balance between growl and low end punch. Long lasting. Compliments the rick perfectly
damn. I just bought a 2019 model, I did not know they changed the bridge!! arg!! I still love the bass though. Its best instrument I own
Awesome-great choice, congrats! Sounds and plays like no other bass out there. Love Rickenbacker basses!!!
Hey my man, thanks for this review. I had no idea Rickenbacker finally upgraded their bridge. I might just pick one up now.

Finally a decent bridge on a Rickenbacker.

jason benford thanks and congrats!
Awesome video! Thanks for sharing 🎶✨ Keep them coming!
amazing how many people get name wrong, say B A C K E R , you own a Rickenbacker
You and everybody else that tells people that it’s pronounced the way it’s spelled are a joke.
Geddy Lee pronounces it as Rickenbacher so go and tell him the correct pronunciation.
The name was anglicized. The original spelling is Reichenbacher.
Congratulations, cheers.
Great review man!! I plan on getting one. Played one the other day (same model and color) & I am in love!!
Its close to the 4001c64 but hasn't got the horse shoe pick up. same as the one macca & Chris sqiure. i just got one.
Not quite as the neck pu was a toaster on the 60s basses plus a few other bits and pieces
Nice! The 'S' stands for Standard by the way.
Sweet bass! I’ve had my eye on the exact same bass
about as exited as i was when i got my ricky back in 73.........wish i still had it.
Great video - thank you !
Excellent review, I’m thinking of getting one. I’m a finger style player but working on developing a pick style as well.🤘😎
what a beauty. enjoy your bass dude!
She's a beauty alright.
Nice review man. I want one big time!

Do you still get the ric sound without the extra jack?
Dude! Be careful with that headstock! If you bang it up you'll be very, very sad! 😢
I would probably miss the body and neck binding and the sharkfin fingerboard inlays, which to me are essential to the Rickenbacker bass look.
what is the thickness of the body of the Rickenbacker 4003s? ? I really want to know
Hi
Why did u not demo the bass pick up ??? I didnt hear much bass tone but loadsa treble .Nicely done vid though .Entertaining
Ill subscibe ......just to see what you got coming up.
Dude, keep the cover. Super difficult (like go straight to a tech) to put back on when you change your mind and want it back on.
Would be nice if the bass was actually tuned

Who was the Squire pic of?
Definitely wasn’t Chris Squire.

@@theboofin have a listen to Flash’ 2nd lp “in the can”.
Great album, and some fantastic Rick bass playing from Ray Bennett.
How much was it please?
S is for standard, its cheaper than the 4003.

Nice Bass...... Good Job. BTW.....It's RickenBACKer. The Decal HAS to go. 😷
No rings with my Bass!!

I have a 2017 2003, I like the modern sound of the bridge pickup personally.
I didn’t get a truss rod tool either, I my 4003 in 1917. I love the Ric-O -Sound feature personally.
