Very nice video. Btw, does the bag quality (sheepskin, hide bag, goretex, synthetic) affect on the final sound ? i've got a canomore Hybrid Bag with a zip, completely air tight, and blowing steadily, and still not able to reproduce that sound you produce with your pipe.
Andrew, I love the channels. I have seen a lot of videos about testing the bag for air tightness, but have not seen you approach what to do, if you find there IS a small leak. Any links?
Hello Andrew, thanks for your posts and breaking things down. Very frustrated with blowing, transitioning etc. appreciate the air tightness you get with your bag. For a newbie can you demonstrate the airtightness with a “Synthetic bag”
Andrew, I've been watching your Blogs since last season and have enjoyed the episodes. I'm not even a Piper but always like to see how the leading Pipers practice/guide/instruct/play their bagpipes. Congratulations on the Worlds...I was pulling for IDPB. You guys absolutely killed it in the competition. I've listened/watched many of the performances at the Worlds repeatedly (RUclips and BBC.co). I don't play the bagpipes but really like to listen to the instrument when it's played well. My question to you is this. I am intensely trying to learn to play the Scottish snare drum. Is there the equivalent of the Piper's Dojo with a great Host/Instructor like you, for the Scottish snare enthusiast??? I have many questions and would really like to see/hear about the instrument from leading drummers. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Keep up the great work on the bagpipes. I'll continue to watch the Pipers Dojo. Thanks.
I have the standard Canmore Gore-Tex bag. Feels like I don’t have the stamina I used to. I’ve had my Shepherd pipes for 18 years and it’s the original bag. Might have a leak maybe, if so I might try a zipper bag.
