I just did the passager side and it definitely was not this easy. It was like the outter tierod was seized on there. I sprayed pb blaster on it the day before and spayed more right before I started. The inner tierod was turning inside of the vice grips and I broke the break line trying to find a space to hold the vice grips. Steady while I use the pipe wrench to turn. I end up buying two other pair of vice grips because I thought the one that I had wasnt good enough. Then I added heat and it turned a couple times so I just kept adding heat and that how I got mine off. I do the driver side tomorrow hopefully it goes better.
There are two designs to the tie rod stud. One where the shaft has a hex on the end as seen in this video - and the second, where a castle nut is held on by a pin, and the thread goes right to the end of the stud. If you are replacing this part always replace it with the hex end design. My problem is that the castle nut is seized onto the tie rod stud (which secures the tie rod to the wheel knuckle). The whole nut and stud move together, and there is nothing on the end of the stud to counter the rotation.
I was told that I would need to replace my rack and pinion bar as well as the tie rods. Could I just replace the rods without having to replace the rack and pinion?

Recommend you do your measuring (and adjustment) before you secure the 21mm ball joint nut.

Do you need a special tool to change the INNER tie rod? I don't see a video from 1A for this.
Yes you need a special tool to replace the inner tie rod. You can usually rent that tool from your local auto parts store. 😁
