Great video. This deserves a part 2. So much more to see in Ecuador. The coast has so many diverse climates: You could be driving through a very humid area with mountains and an hour and a half later you are in a dry tropical area with dry cliffs, and then back to tropical forest. It is crazy. That's what's great about Ecuador it is so small but yet so diverse, you can visit 3 regions in one day and all done by car. Come visit us, the people is also very welcoming and always willing to go out of their way to provide service and assistance. And don't start me about the food. Healthy, nutrición and slow cooked. It is basically healthy, warm confort food. 🙂
It's actually funny how Ecuador is slightly larger than Iowa but has so much more things to see. Iowa only has one climate zone. Mountains are truly God's gift to the Earth
A mention of Cuenca would have been nice. It’s in southern Ecuador, third largest city and nestled in the Andes next to the Cajas National Park. Also a UNESCO Word Heritage Site.
Holy crap, Iglesia de la Compañia de Jesús is unbelievable. Wow. For that matter, all of those cathedrals are beautiful. I'm 44 and I *just barely* learned about the farthest-from-the-earth's-core thing a month or two ago when my friend and his wife climbed Mt. Kiliminjaro.
I am ashamed to say that I discovered you almost half a year ago, and only subscribed a half hour ago; there is no excuse for the delay. Your videos are rich (almost decadent) with information, that must have required many hours of research for each minute of my benefit. You have restored my faith in RUclips, and I wish you a long and prosperous life. Thank you!
I have the feeling that you just missed, when talking about Quito, the absolutely amazing statue they have on top of a hill in the middle of the city. La Virgen del Panecillo, which depicts actually a Woman of the Apocalypse.
1:59 rotate that image when you use it! this is a geography channel afterall. Why do everybody's video show this stock image of Quebec and New Brunswick as a mirrored image? It always makes me wonder, just how much the creator actually knows or cares about geographical accuracy. 😄
You failed to mention "Our Lady of Good Success," the Shrine which celebrates the appearance of the Blessed Virgin Mary who predicted many of the events that are lurching society from its equator of equilibrium!
Interesting video. I should point out that you Spanish pronunciation is cringe worthy. Your accent would suggest southern USA with English being your primary language, but with Spanish pronunciation, you aren’t really trying.
Great video! I visited Ecuador in 2019 and was blown away by the sheer variety of landscapes at every turn. Its an incredibly beautiful country. I need to go back to spend some time in the Galapagos and also hike a few more mountains and volcanos.
It couldn't possibly be any worse than the podcast I listened to yesterday in which the narrator put the emphasis of Yakima on the middle syllable rather than the first (and repeated the word at least 100 times). Ya-KEE-ma ya-KEE-ma ya-KEE-ma. It drove ne bonkers for an hour.
Nature having constitutional rights should be a common sense thing all over the world. Thank you Ecuador, for going first and being a role model on that front!
In paper we have one of the most progressive constitutions in the world. But in practice, useless governments, rampant corruption and illegal mining and trafficking just destroy any attempts of enforcing it. Its pretty sad actually, because the beauty of this little country is unique and something worth protecting.
@@Pulpos999 I think it still matters to have written down how things should or could go. Even in the greatest mess, I think it is vital to have an idea what the goal must be and why. This way it is easier to understand what has to change. In some countries there were never any proper constitutions, let alone political education, so people do not even know on paper what a better government would look like.
I agree 100%.. Fact is, we are all part of nature hence, this law of Ecuador's cover us all, animals, oceans, plants and humans alike. The state of Ecuador however, seem to have 'forgotten' to comply with the ruling of the court case which Nature won a while ago, - one if the reasons for the resent paro, correct!? We are a group of people and the Ecuadorian Embassy in London who have a question about exactly that, waiting with the state of Ecuador right now and, I truly hope we get a positive answer to this very soon....thanks very much in advance dear Ecuador..
South America is underrated in my opinion. The Andes region is my most favourite natural place in the world. Besides all the things Geography Geek mentioned about this region, I would point out that the Andes has a lot of active volcanoes. Some of them are comparable in size and power to the Yellowstone supervolcano in USA. Yes, the Andes has a lot of supervolcanoes. As a matter of fact, the region is still in the process of either creating new supervolcanoes or transforming normal volcanoes into supervolcanoes.
I love that my troubled little piece of land gets the attention it deserves and I thank you for this video, but 10min videos and stock photos will never do it justice. This is something you have to experience.. I feel blessed to live in such a beautiful and culturally rich country.
@@GeographyGeek When talking about Mexico, it would be wise to mention the destruction of Rainforest by Tren Maya. A complete video about this in """El mal llamado Tren Maya devasta la selva, cenotes y acuíferos de Quintana Roo, Campeche y Chiapas""
Quito was the first world heritage site declared by UNESCO. It was a model before the thousands of special sites around the world. There are more than 100 volcanoes in Ecuador. It has the largest number of rivers per square Km. And many more facts. Thanks for your nice video.
You have done a great job of showing Ecuador, where I live. I settled here after traveling about the World. It is the most beautiful country and has the nicest people in the World. The 4 mainland areas are so diverse. However, you did get the volcano count wrong, but many stories about Ecuador do that.
I did an abroad year in Quito last year. Now as i came back I feel heartbroken and have this crazy desire to return to Ecuador. This country is the diversest country nature and culture-wise, it pains me to see it through the eyes of media. You have to visit it (at best live in it) to see what great of a country this actually is
I had no idea the Salasaca are Indigenous to the Galapagos. I visited some of their towns and their weaving studios many years back..... in Tungurahua Province; nowhere near the coast, much less on the islands.
I would love it if you make a video of Chile, keeping in mind its longitude, which covers a large amount of climate and diversity.
¡Si, Chile por favor, y Bolivia!

Can't wait to make Ecuador my home.
Quito is actually the most populated city. It used to be Guayaquil for a long time but Quito surpassed Guayaquil’s population in 2020

You forgot about Ecuador's coastal microclimates.
I don’t know why, but it blows my mind that a place along the equator, with no seasonal temperature swings, can experience snow.
Thanks!
Muito bom

Can you make a video of Island countries in the Caribbean?
The same can be said if I95 .... Construction will never end!
