Squid roast

Squid (kanava/ koonthal) - 250 g
Shallots - 20 ( medium size)
Crushed garlic - 5 ( medium size)
Crushed ginger - 1/2" to 3/4" size
Coconut bits - 1 tbsp
Grated coconut - 1/2 cup (6 tbsp)
Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
Green chilli - 5
Coriander powder - 1 tsp
Pepper powder - 1/4 tsp
Garam masala - 1/2 tsp
Fennel seeds powder - 3/4 tsp
Mustard -1/2 tsp
Curry leaves
Hot water- 1/2 cup
Oil

Hi Sneha, just sharing a tip, while cooking squid or prawns, you may use masalas(shallots,green chillies &:spice powders) in a nominal way, in order to enhance the taste of squid or prawns in the curry, and do not over cook them to retain its juiciness. Once the masalas are done, toss the squid/prawns into the pan, close lid and cook for 7 minutes at the most. Off flame, garnish with fresh corriander leaves and serve. Suggest try this method,in this way the taste of the mentioned seafood will surface than the masalas...

Hi Sneha , I have never made vaytappam by myself , although it’s something that I enjoying having . Always thought it as a long process & scared of flopping it .2 days back I tried making it the way you mentioned in this video . It came out ok for a 1st Timer . My dough was a little watery , still it was ok . I used brown rice so my vattappam looked not pure white like yours. I feel the next time I can add little water . Now I am more confident in making this easy version of your vattappam . Thank u 🙏🏼
