I have all the footage and notes for Spector of Torment. Just haven’t gotten around to writing and editing. Been a little caught up on other stuff but the interest seems to be there. Not sure about the Plague Knight one.
I always found it ironic how Polar Knight called Plague Knight cheap for using magic but Polar Knight only does three things during the battle (basically): 1. Throw snowballs at you 2. Run away 3. Cover the ground in spikes (which insta-kill you)
Not necessarily, no. Another big part of Polar Knight's boss fight is his ability to block Shovel Knight's attacks with his own shovel, thus making one of the most reliable forms of attack, the pogo jump, ineffective at best and useless at worse. This is coupled with the fact that every time he swipes his shovel to throw snowballs at you, which is often, the snow around him clears to form the spikes, thus making attacking him from the side also less than optimal, due to risk of instant death. Then, couple this with his snowballs, the fact that he can walk on the spikes, and having to beat him completely in one go, without items the fight can be quite slow and difficult. And this then extends onto the 'magic is just a cheap trick' point, as the only way to beat him without having to go through all the points listed, is to go the unhonorable and cheap route, and use magical relics. Thus, the only way to beat someone with honor is either pure perseverance, or to throw out your own honor.
The Doc Block Sure but I think the way he meant it is that he does three things but I’m different ways while yes blocking the pogo is cool only two characters use it. Plus in the fights dialogue shovel knight says “where is the proud warrior I once knew” thus saying that technically threw his honor a long time ago making your “use perseverance or throw away honor” making no sense in the case of polar knight
I admit, it's impressive how high King Knight got, even though his game isn't out yet. Wonder if Reize would have gotten higher, if you had done this after Specter of Torment was released? Also, Polar Knight is pretty annoying with his spikes, but the fact that he can block and counterattack Shovel Knight's shovel drop and that the diggable sections of his level contain a lot of bombs give him credit for clearly knowing Shovel Knight's way of fighting, proving the two indeed have a history.
@@TeejHero Well, technically Polar Knight is also, like Black Knight, a Shovel Knight. And since he has a huge as shovel and is trained to deal with the most powerful attack of Shovel Knight (they way you can pogo the crap out of Treasure Knight when he is under the roof is insane) may suggest that he is some kind of master to Black and Shovel Knight. Also in the PoS ending he is chilling with Black Knight and in the SoT ending he is tending to the Black Knights mount. So... who knows - I hope that those Single Player "campaigns" in that pvp Shovel Knight will explaine more on the motives of every knight.
King Knight is my favorite out of the Order of No Quarter, it's really awesome that he ranks so highly, and I personally would have tied him as number 1 :)
My biggest problem with some of these bosses is that you cant replay the fight after it's done, with the wandering guys, the ghost and kratos (I've just played on ps) that's it for that playthrough. I like going back and fighting the other bosses often
I'm kind of curious how one would rank all of the unique (i.e. Shovel Knight in Plague of Shadows, Shadow Reize in Specter of Torment)/ different versions of the bosses (mainly for Specter of Torment) from the two expansions. For an example, I think the Tinkerer Knight fight in Specter of Torment is so much better than his original fight, in both stages.
Huh, I'm quite surprised Enchantress got so high. I remember utterly hating her fight. Mostly from the fact that while she wasn't hard to avoid at all. If you screw up one...just once at the wrong place, or getting hit by the wrong attack. Your dead, I HATED the fact that the battle purely relied on her getting a 1 hit kill to win. It's the same reason I found polar Knight to be annoying. Not a hard fight, just one that relies purely on the fact that if you screw up once your dead.
My personal favourite boss is the one and only Michael Jackson wannabe:plague knight. I love plague Knight so much, his design is just amazing, he's a hard boss to beat, his setting is just plain awesome, he's a great boss and I just really love him as a character
When I think about it I could appreciate Shovel Knight bosses more during my no gold and no relic run - so basically you can count only on free health upgrades and your trusty shovel, matey. And I can say that the most tricky one from the order is Plauge Knight. When you cant just tank all the damage with phase locket and you cant heal with the goo from that fish you realy need to know his patterns. And since he is so freaking fast, random and chaotic it is realy hard.
Baz has some lore, he was going to be in street fighter II but he was cut so he is trying to find a game of his own, including being a playable character in Divekick and when the super best friends got the director for a day reward they wanted Baz in the game so they put him in
King Knight has always been my favorite boss, and I'm so glad to see him getting some much needed love I'm also a pretty big Wario fan, so the fact that his DLC looks like a Wario land game is literally a dream come true Great list 👍
Everyone says that polar knight is hard but he's really not, the spikes are easy to avoid and plus if you get knocked into them by polar knight you have Iframes, I've literally only died once fighting him across all three game modes.
thought i was going crazy hearing the "hee's" in plague's dialogue until it got to the "hee hee hee" and i realized what you were doing 😂 classic. love indulging my shovel knight obsession in 2022 lmao
I know how you said you were labelling the bosses by difficulty and lore, but I like Tinker knight as a character, in my opinion if it was a list of worst to best characters he would be up on best.
It's funny, I really disagree with some of your rankings but I understand the reasoning behind why you did them. For example, you put Specter Knight highly, he's my number 1, but you also put enchantress quite high, and I hated that fight because I play controller and the down key on the d-pad is really sensitive so I kept ending up digging through the ground and dying. Also, I would've swapped Mole Knight and Propeller Knight because I just much prefer Mole's fight and aesthetic (although nobody beats the Spookter Knight in that department). But I do understand why you put them in those places, and I agree that Black Knight is very good, and that Baz is pretty boring.
TEEJHERO: shovel knight is our favourite knight Plague knight: heh, I believe that title belongs to me. Also, I’m realising how useful it is for you to not rank the bosses by difficulty, as it means that all the bosses have more of a chance to be the best, as if you did, it would mean only the final area bosses would really be the best
@TEEJHERO you’re not wrong there. I was just saying that, in general, plague knight appears to have more fans than any of the other characters. For the fanbase, he’s only really rivalled by specter knight.

His role in the mix is just an extra character Idk why you find him hard, and he isn’t that good of a character. Reply if this is when king knight’s dlc is out already, then I might change my mind on the back story.
I literally say in the video that King Knight is one of the easiest bosses in the game. Haha. Look at that amazing design. Keep in mind, this isn't a list of easiest to hardest bosses.
Teejhero, in the begining of the video you said that you rank the bosses based on the battle itself, how it plays and its strategies and king knight doesent really have any of the things you said and his design isnt the best in the game, and the lore isnt also really interesting, if you ask me I would put polar knight just a bit higher because he in my opinion has all of those things, i get you have your opinion and you have mine
I felt that you didn’t give too much of a reason for the order. I can understand some of it, but others you talk only nice things about some of them, like Reize.
My list is quite different, but difficulty is subjective and I can see your points. However, for example, I liked Plague Knight way more than Propeller Knight, which felt like a King Knight with less charm and some kinda bullshit attacks. Treasure Knight was one of the least memorable bosses for me and not hard challenging when fighting the first time, while Tinker Knight is better at this. Black Knight wasn't that fun to me, it was more of a "'will you die already" and I found it too similar to our character to have interesting attacks with the exception of the last encounter. I would have gave his position to the Enchantress since she was a tough final boss, with a nice design and great build-up. I think she took me more tries than half the other bosses combined but it was a fair difficulty considering her position.
I can definitely see the Enchantress being high- especially with the Shield Knight reveal. I think what made me like the Black Knight was that he wasn't just a "I'm an evil version of you just because" type of character and thought the love triangle stuff was interesting. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

MOST important reason for high rank according to you was strategy and challenge, but you put the 2 easiest bosses at the top. You did say the non-combat reasons weren't prioritized.
I didn't say anything was the most important. I simply listed the criteria- perhaps I will do bullets instead of numbers to be more clear. A great design and setting on an easy boss may rank higher than a difficult boss that is boring for instance. Besides, just because those bosses are easy doesn't make the battles bad. They all play well in this game. While I have said non-combat reasons aren't prioritized in other videos where there isn't much lore- I did not say so in the beginning of this video.
